I'm not sure what kind of advice you're asking for. If you mean advice for how to suggest features for Tanki Classic, then I recommend waiting for a relevant announcement in the News section and sharing your ideas in the replies there.

Coming back to the game after a long absence (last played seriously with this acc, my main, before Covid). I initially started playing less when matchmaking was implemented, followed by the new turrets. I finally quit shortly after Gauss was introduced and the old m1-m3 system was scrapped. Like many, I thought this game had taken such a drastic downturn from what it used to be in the 2013-2016 era when I started playing.

 

Coming back, it is evident that the devs are trying to gain a larger following. Was very surprised to see AI bots in the game and it honestly felt so weird. I guess it was seen as necessary to offset the massive player loss over the past several years. However, despite that, I do think battles feel far more balanced than they used to, although the PtW platform is still evident at times. The massive imbalances in 2020 era Tanki have been doctored slightly, but the game is still a shadow of its former self in my opinion. There are still so many imbalances with guns like gauss, Scorpion, and Magnum as well as the various in-battle augments such as overdrive that I really think we would be better off without, but I can appreciate that, from my perspective, the game actually seems somewhat playable again.

 

In short, this game has fluctuated from a popular highlight of nostalgia in its golden years to a highly unbalanced amalgamation of flawed updates that the dev team has now attempted to correct with mixed success. Even with some of the new improvements to bring more balance to the field, such as AI bots and a more competitive Mk1-mk7+ upgrade system for turrets and hulls, I don't think Tanki will ever regain its former popularity. At present it stands as a beacon of mediocrity - better than it was recently but incomparable to its to its former prowess as a bustling franchise that was so valued by us in years past. Fpr those of that have been here long enough, that Tanki is now considered a distant, nostalgic shadow of our childhoods.

If you were 'joking' with your posts, then the 'context' isn't all that important after all--I mean... if it's just jokes of course...

Not sure how that makes me misleading, disingenUous, a lawyer, dishonest or without humour.

TL;DR - I want to enjoy the game but the game won't let me, more stubbornly so after the recent patch. 

 

Android

Spoiler

Android naturally being limited in what it can do on a small screen, my equipment options in battle were less than what a PC player had.

 

Melee turrets were hard to use effectively so the only one I could decently use was Tesla. And even that came with its own gripes when compared to PC Tesla. Hammer was near unplayable for large periods of time because pellets would randomly miss enemies even when I'm right in front of them far less when they're moving. Twins was an option but a very specific, dedicated option. Android had no option to enter the settings in battle so if I wanted to play with Twins, I couldn't change my mind and switch to something else. I had to stick with it for the rest of the battle because using anything else besides Twins/Vulcan with auto-shoot would basically set me up for failure, especially in intense battles.

Ricochet was an option, but it sat at a crossroad. On one hand, it requires me to hold down the firing button with manual shooting and that took up one of my two very precious inputs while fighting. On the other hand, auto-shoot would kill my effectiveness against a lot of enemies for little gain overall. So it sat between two extremes. Either I suck it up and use half my inputs just to deal damage to the enemy, or I let the game decide when I shoot. The former was the better option overall. 

Smoky was the go-to if you had nothing else or if you wanted something that suited mobile. Smoky shines when you have high accuracy, and that's exactly what mobile allowed you to have with it. Thunder worked alright but for large portions of my time on Android, the garage augments sans Adrenaline and Subcalibre Rounds were bad. I have a Thunder-only account that I haven't properly used in a very long time. 

Striker naturally didn't work. Too much precision required and too uncomfortable to lead shots. Only MLH augment made it playable for me. That was another crossroads situation where having auto-shoot would pretty much kill the arcade shots but allow me to do the salvos, but I had little freedom of movement with it. Manual aiming allowed for uncomfortable arcades and near unusable salvos. Vulcan, like Twins, required me to be in the mood to play it because I can't just switch to something else. Despite them having the on/off switch with auto-shoot, I still had to put in a lot of effort to play it, to make sure the projectiles are going to this target while also using my other input to steer the hull/camera and supplies. 

Magnum was hardly an option. Vertical Magnum was useless on a phone and horizontal Magnums had little to no options. Gauss was alright. Railgun was a turret you could get good results with but you had to keep in mind all of the modules you'd be fighting. Scorpion, the latest addition, was great for me. An arcade firing mode with near hitscan projectile speed that flowed smoothly between the salvo firing mode. And Shaft, my favourite turret to use on Android, had many options and was fun to play.

 

 

All of this with both tracked and hover hulls. But over time, things would change. The game started becoming more fast paced. TTK started dropping across the board. Suddenly, dedicating all these inputs to tracked hulls fatigued my thumbs faster than before. Nail in the coffin for that, the Android impact force bug, where Android players received considerably higher impact force from Smoky and significantly higher impact force from Hammer, Railgun and Terminator's Railgun. Hammer during these past 4 years had been getting a lot of attention so its popularity was artificially increased. At any moment, my Hunter or Viking or Titan would just get flipped with nothing I can do about it, so it's here where I switched to hover hulls for good. That's my hull variety strangled there. Hover hulls had their own quirks with this bug but the game was at least playable with them. Instead of being flipped, the Railgun and Hammer would just instantly jerk your hover hull about 45-60° to the left. 

 

Lots of balance changes and stuff would happen throughout the years, but the important thing was that I generally still had a lot of variety at hand, at my choice. Out of those turrets that were options, the only one that became less of an option over time was Gauss, due to the reacquisition bug that appeared in the game in July 2022 and because of that bug, I also started getting no damage salvos. Countless, countless numbers of kills were lost these past 2 ½ years because of that bug. I no longer enjoyed using Gauss, especially since it was getting nerfed while other things were getting buffed. 

 

HTML5

Fast forward to 2024 with the HTML5 transition. Everything is different, and everything was worse. The performance, even on the lowest graphics settings, was worse, freezing my phone for 10+, 20+ minutes where I have to manually restart it to gain control again. The camera rotation, worse. Traversing through the different places in the main lobby, worse. The battle UI, worse. Supply activations, demonic. The overall battle experience, atrocious. And all of those combined severely limited my options in battle. The only thing that actually became better from Android to HTML5 was Hammer. On Android like mentioned previously, pellets would just miss enemies for some reason. On HTML5, it's actually hitting people even on moving targets, like it was supposed to be. My only options during that early period was Healing Emitters, Railgun, Thunder and Hammer. Twins and Vulcan were options I had to dedicate even more effort in playing than on Android.

 

At this point in time, even with the impact force bug no longer there, the game was too fast paced and too janky for me to even touch tracked hulls. But oh I was eventually forced to with the Juggernaut. I wasn't overreacting when I thought Jug became near unplayable on HTML5. There is no deadzone for rotating a tracked hull on HTML5's joystick so the Jug was torture to play with. Movements I'd do on Android would make me miss shots on HTML5 or bump into walls multiple time, making me an easy kill. And there's no adapting to that. It's just a huge downgrade in QoL. TJR became so unenjoyable that to this day there's a high chance I leave the battle immediately if I first spawn in as the Jug. I already hate having to play this mode so often from the quick battle queue, I'd rather not take extra frustration being the first Jug. So even if I wanted to, I can't use tracked hulls. That isn't to say it's impossible. I know someone who used Hornet Railgun very well on HTML5. It's just way too much effort for what I get from that. 

 

My options were very limited and it took 7 months for some variety to come back. They buffed the auto-aim angles for the turrets. Smoky received changes that made the shots phasing through enemies happen much less frequently. Scorpion's arcade shot felt better to play with. Ricochet still had the firing button holding problem but didn't feel as much as a nuisance as before. I could use all of the Shafts instead of just Healing Emitters. Gauss is still bugged to high hell so the only thing I could comfortably use on it is Super Solenoids. Twins feels better to use after the projectile speed changes. They finally added auto-supplies so I didn't have to interact with that god awful supply wheel as often as before. After all that pain for the first 7 months of HTML5, I finally have some variety and while many problems are still unsolved, I actually started enjoying playing battles again. Of course, good things never last. 

 

Ricochet gets 2 nerfs that made it even less comfortable to play with. Hammer for some reason started missing pellets again. Not as many as on Android but enough to screw me out of multiple kills and make the turret not enjoyable anymore. Tesla gets a huge nerf that made using anything besides Electroturret a pain and ultimately not worth suffering for. Resonator was released and promptly stinking up a lot of otherwise decent battle experiences. The usual overtuned augments being ran in event modes and in sweatsquads. Around this time Super Solenoids was getting the salvo damage buffs and became nice to use...as nice as bugged-to-hell Gauss can be for me. Again, the reacquisition bug and the no damage salvos that come from that. It wasn't something that I could just enter a battle and secure 30-50 kills with. I slowly and steadily built towards 25-30 kills assuming there weren't much modules there. And if there's a competent healer along with a bunch of Lifeguard augments then a lot of my damage output can be quickly negated. Countless kills lost to the bugs. Many close games were lost to the bug. Solenoid Cooling got the recent damage buff that makes it powerful again but I can't get to properly use it because it sometimes takes me 2 seconds to lock on to someone when it should 0.5 seconds. Gauss' arcade shot apparently had sizeable auto-aim angles yet it felt like it only had 1/3 of that and missing shots often. 

 

Now we're in 2025. The only things that stopped the negativity from overflowing was that Smoky becoming playable again and there being performance improvements throughout December. I'm no longer suffering with all those aforementioned things + FPS dips. It's now common for me to have near 60 FPS for extended durations in random battles. 

Hover hull speeds get nerfed. Alright then. I can't deny that the majority of sweatsquads I fight are using hover hulls. This will hamper my ability to run away from melee and short range turrets on tracked hulls but I'm willing to accept that. Scorpion's best augments for general gameplay get efficiency nerfs with no buffs to anything else. Hammer gets a rework that seems successful but feels much worse for me to play with because HTML5 is janky to play on compared to Android, so Hammer is not really an option anymore. Ricochet regained most of its range but still has the slowed projectile speed making it hard to hit people. That and Twins/Ricochet got rotation speed nerfs for some reason? Explosive Band randomly received a damage increase. Some things for nerfed and some things got buffed, as it had been since that awful May 2024 Patch. But then the recent patch is just. Ugh. 

 

So PC now has auto-aim just like mobile and gamepads. So to facilitate this, the numbers were decreased across the board. But some of these decreases are something else. Shaft for instance. I will admit that when they auto-aim numbers were buffed in 2024 it was very clear that Shaft received the highest number (evidenced by the recent patch) and that made Healing Emitters very easy to use and fatigued my thumbs slower than before. If there was one that needed to be toned down it was definitely Shaft. But they toned it down from the highest to almost nothing. Due to HTML5's jank shenanigans, I can't micro-adjust my aim like on Android so this 0.6° of auto-aim is basically nothing. I'm missing my arcades. I can't enjoy the buffed RFM because of how many misses I get. I can't enjoy the status Shafts because I'm missing my crucial arcades. If I got Quasar tomorrow I wouldn't be able to enjoy that what with that punishing you hard for missing both arcades and snipes. Healing Emitters as I expected was still strong for gaining points in random battles but with the reload nerf and the auto-aim nerf, my fingers once again are fatiguing quickly using it. 

Scorpion gets absolutely nothing. Arcades now tire my fingers fast and the salvo acquisition is disjointed and delayed. Ricochet's reduction is both good and bad depending on the enemy I'm fighting. Vulcan became a little worse for hitting people at longer ranges but not too bad, still requires a lot of effort. Thunder now has 1.2° and the difference is very noticeable. Not as bad as Shaft but shots do get missed often enough there. Gauss arcades as easy as it was to miss before, became even easier now. Railgun gets nothing, intentionally so by the Opex's comments on the RU forum. 

 

Bottom line, my variety is strangled yet again. Hammer is no longer an option. Railgun is no longer an option now that the auto-aim is disabled. Scorpion is no longer an option if I actually want to win the battle. And everything else that is still good/ok will fatigue my thumbs faster than before. And what more? Another round of questionable balance changes. I don't understand what I'm supposed to take away from these changes. Auto-aim was added to all platforms so the numbers had to be nerfed, but the numbers being nerfed somehow justifies already good augments like Strict Ammunition Load getting buffed further? RFM was already pretty nice and gets an efficiency buff. Helios follows alongside it being a somewhat similar augment. Berserk for some reason gets an energy recovery rate and firing rate buff? Anvil Shells gets a stacked range increase for the normal damage but Sledgehammer gets nothing??? DHC Railgun gets the same stats as Scout but without the damage penalty? Explosive gets an extra 25% crit damage which tbh makes a lot more sense than Explosive Band being the Vulcan to get 900 DPS. They made the gap between the legendary augments and the garage augments even wider and am I supposed to believe PC getting auto-aim and mobile being nerfed was a justification for this? Now I just sigh every time I die to Strict Ammunition Load Thunder because they got that high damage output for FREE. I sigh when I die to a Berserk because they get that high damage output for free. I sigh when I die to a Critical Mix Freeze knowing that it received the very harsh nerf of going from 21% crit chance to 18%. How tragic. 

 

There's a new event with the contract system, yay. I was considering doing some silver ones to get some keys but damn, what the hell do I even have to grind with now? Anything other than Healing Emitters will not give me good return for the effort. And the few things I can use may not be a turret I have upgraded on that account. And I have to fight buffed PC players with these along with all the other issues that the auto-aim nerf will exacerbate. So I just won't bother with the event. I'll do the special missions on my accounts like normal. Some suffering.more than others because the limited options they had became even more limited after the recent patch. And it's probably gonna stay like this for the foreseeable future.

I am not familiar with Promo codes as well. I guess to know it, one should follow Tanki propaganda, the one that says: "This week buy this. And we nerfed what you bought last week". As I am not interested to buy anything or to get screwed, I lose the occasional tiny gift.

@TheCongoSpider The one thing I took from reading this long post (very enjoyable and interesting read by the way) is the problem affecting Gauss, which has never been fixed and honestly never will.

The amount of problems this game has in regards to bugs/glitches has always been a thing and they expect "RATIONAL" players to spend cash and time indulging in this quagmire of crap, not gonna happen.

Of the numerous accounts I have made over the years most of them have been side lined because of the updates /mechanics of the game.

They seem to me to be relying on buyers and now mobile players to much.

Their hubris and greed will eventually kill this game in regards to how many players actually invest in it.

From the shop to your garage, this game is a overpriced joke.

Correct, it hasn't been fixed yet. For about 2 ½ years now. Around December it became even worse somehow where the acquisition was being reset later than usual. That has calmed down now but it's still a problem. They managed to somewhat fix it with Striker and Scorpion. I'm not sure why it's taking so long to fix for Gauss.

The dumbest of the bots seem to be magnums.

I usually leave the battle if I have one or two magnum bots on my team.

Pure idiocy.

Played 4 battles, got kicked from two of them. I was top by a country mile in both battles.

Reason- imo It was because I was destroying their attacks with tesla. I was THE only tesla in both battles, but because I was 30+ for no losses in both battles and they couldn't get near me, I got kicked.

This has happened quite a few times when I have been at least 25/30 + for no losses, even on my main.

I honestly think that a mod or mods are to blame for this and may have been in the same battlle, but on the opposite team.

This has happened multiple times on various accounts, because they can't hack it that I no what I'm doing and obliterate most attacks.

It just seems strange that when I go through a battle with no losses against me I more often than not get kicked, also I am unable to re-enter the battle, with all my rewards lost.

I've lost count how many complaints I have had, just because I am doing well.

I seriously doubt that this game will ever improve for the better, I'm done with this crap.

This is probably my last post, shame It couldn't be a positive one.

I have encountered the same phenomenon. It's probably programmed into the game on purpose.

There's been connectivity issues recently. I've gotten errors entering and during battles. Some others couldn't enter any battles at all. They gave a token of apology some hours ago.

Never pay money for this game.

10 years later and STILL having connectivity issues.

If you are referring to MM, how can ANY battle not be terrible? Entering a short-term battle, unknown scenario requiring an immediate visit to garage to adjust, then understand if unknown team mates require help in attack or in defense, and this might force a second visit to garage. But all of that does not matter because the team with more buyers destroys the other, forcing many players to leave early or hide. Generally 3 minutes and the end of the battle is clear.

Every time I played an MM battle I felt disgusted.

It was actually much more than 6.

Took me several games before I realized there was ultimately a pattern to this garbage.
