Do some players really think some outcomes from drones are cheats?

I've had this happen several times: when I play with Magnum+Hornet+Booster, I am usually able to one-shot most tanks with Booster+Overdrive and sometimes without needing OD for medium or light hulls, then after one-shotting that player, they accuse me of cheating in the game chat. (These accusations are more prevalent especially if they have a fully upgraded Magnum protection module) Do some players genuinely think this is cheating, or are they angrily trying to get back at me for one-shotting them? I've also had a similar situation happen with the Blaster drone which causes the tank to explode, damaging all nearby enemies and has a huge impact force. In my own words, they say something like "what the hell just happened"

Some drones, like boosters imo, remove all player agency from the game...you aim at me and press space and I die. They are a net negative to the experience which i why I dont use them.

However, they certainly arent cheating. Hate the game not the player

Well sometimes it comes from not being very observant. I don't expect someone who plays very casually to be paying attention to every little detail in a battle. 

 

In the case of Booster, the fades away when you activate it. At this time, if they saw you when you killed them, they may not see a Drone above you, which may lead them to be suspicious. They may also be accustomed to not dealing with something that boosts your damage by 4x instead of 2x. So if something that would consistently take away half of their HP kills them, then they'd be upset. 

 

I've seen some people ask why they're not dealing 100% of their damage to a certain enemy. It could only be Defender, but if they don't know the Drone exists, they won't see it because the drone is faded away for the 20 seconds the effect is active. 

 

I remember seeing someone call a person with a max-levelled Assault Drone pre-nerf) a hacker because his supplies never ran out. I explained the situation to him. They're accustomed to seeing supplies end in 30 seconds, so if they see this guy's supplies not ending, they'd sense something is wrong. 

 

And for Speedster, you can use two repair kits simultaneously. The unaware enemy will expect you to only be able to use 1, but you use 2 and win the duel when they would have won if your used only 1 repair kit. Drones amplify normal battle situations and will catch unaware players off-guard. Especially if they don't know the effects of different Drones and how boosted they are at max level.

I think they legitimately think it's cheating. I think the drones should be way more obvious. Like put the drones visual in the scorecard so that people know you have a drone.

As @DieselPlatinum said above, drones lack visual indication. For someone who only just came back to the game or doesn't play much, things like being suddenly one-shot by a turret that normally takes off 25% of your health, dealing 3000+ damage to a light hull and seeing them survive, seeing someone spawn with all three supplies, definitely looks like cheats. So it's hardly surprising that people accuse drone users of cheating.

Last month I made a topic where I called the booster drone "legalised cheating". That's basically what it is - the game rules allow it but it's not fair.

I bought the booster drone myself last weekend. In the past I would already be knee-deep in microupgrades, but I haven't bothered. In fact I haven't even logged in this week. My enthusiasm is just meh. But I have been playing for many years so maybe it's that too.

If you think Booster is bad, and Defender being literally the counter measure for it, then it's just as bad if not worse being that it lasts a whole 20 seconds. How is that fair that you can barely kill a Defender drone user o.O

Tbh. I thought that some players were cheating, until i read the update notes.

Drones are playing a big role in the game atm, and I'm not a fan of it.

Id say the difference is that I dont mind so much if someone is hard to kill. I mind much more if they are one shotting me thru protection and armor. Defender drone is nice but remember, even without the drone, if my health is lowered to zero, my tank reappears with full health so dying is like a free repair kit. Booster alone can overwhelm even a good player. Imagine being big noob like me and its even worse

It's the other way around for me. Especially when they can activate defender, and then when their DA runs out, they can activate it again right away for another 20 seconds of protection. That with high protection modules isn't a fun thing to experience over and over. If you don't have an appropriate Overdrive ready or a Freeze, you're not gonna stop them from taking your flag and leaving the base with it. 

 

I'll only mind Booster if it's with Gauss, since its splash damage distribution is too powerful.

Heavy hulls with DA and good protection against the turret can survive against Booster. Medium hulls too but heavy hulls can do it better.

I agree....they are cheats.

Or rather, "Legal hacks" as I call them....

Especially the Lifeguard Drone....it's basically an "invincibility" hack.

On a few occasions I've had a viking do normal damage to me even though I have deployed the titan dome... that certainly confused me.

However, I think it is wrong that a tank can be one-shot and no drone should be that powerful.

You have to expect the insults as long you play

Players will insult you even if you have a lower equipment than them. If their insults hurts you, you have to hide the chat from settings.

Especially if you one-shot them, they will be more angry. Shafts are the most hated players who take insults every second. But one-shooting people even with Magnum or a normal turret, for sure will make the players out of rage.

For me, I don't insult players ever. But I know Boosters who insult/blame me for using the overdrive or the Mines, while they're using the disgusting Booster.
