Best and Worst Combos

Hi!

I've played a bunch of different combos and I will say that tanki is balanced enough that almost any combo is viable. That being said, some tend to dominate battles more often, and some never do. I'd like to make a list of the top 5-10 best and worst combos in tanki, but to do so, I want to remove my own opinion as much as possible.

Could people please list the combos you use/see in battles that dominate the most, as well as those that seem the worst, either you never see them, or they are always on the bottom of the scoreboard.

I'd love 5-10 for each, but even a few would be great. Thank you!

It's hard to compile such a list due to the fact that effectiveness of certain combos is greatly affected by the map and game mode it's being used in. For example, Hornet Gauss is decent in most games, but incredibly overpowered in Siege mode or Assault red team. Railgun hyperspace alteration is mediocre in most battles, but absolutely insane on Desert, and/or if you have a couple friends willing to stand in front of you to provide the bonus penetration damage. There's a bunch more specific combos like this, so it's really hard to judge.

If we're just talking about generic powerful combos, then my personal favourites include:

  • Hunter + Magnum + Reinforced Gun Carriage + Booster
  • Wasp + Thunder + Sledgehammer + Defender
  • Mammoth + Rico (no alt)
  • Viking + Hammer + 5-shot/slugger
  • Hunter + Firebird + Incendiary mix

These are helpful. I'm pretty sure hammer viking has got to be close to the top, as one example

Hunter-Ricco (with Plasma torch). 

Was accused of hacking because I was "torching" so many of them in Siege battle.  Or maybe I just happened to inadverdently pick on one of them... wasn't paying close attention to who I was destroying.

 

Viking-smoky (incendiary) was a pleasant surprise as well.  The afterburn catches them off guard.

Doesn’t the slow reload prevent killing sprees? Or did they just happen to not have DA on all the time?

I am a casual player atm, and idk, I like equipping any turret onto my trust Hunter Ahaha!

My main Combo, you might have seen me in battle before...

Thunder XT Mk8, Hunter XT Mk8, Pather Mk7, Falcon Mk7, Grizzly Mk8, Lightning Storm Paint, and Booster Drone.

DD allows this combo to finish off all but heavies quickly.  Hunter OD takes care of the DA.  Ya gotta keep moving though - keep out of danger while you reload.

The best combos for me;

I mostly use Freeze and wasp as it is a very good attack combo.

I defend using either freeze mammoth(though many players don’t use m) and Vulcan mammoth.

I use rail gun wasp as well and sometimes with mammoth

See a lot of these stealing flags in CTF.  Freeze the defenders in place, drop the bomb and run away while they die in fiery explosion.

Yes, I'd say that off all wasp combos, freeze is the best if you want to be aggressive

Gauss hornet seems to be great for siege.

Magnum hornet rgc is great at one shoting unconditionally.

 

Other combos I think are effective:

Hornet rail destabilization

Hunter hammer hcac or firebird and compact tanks

Titan shaft

Viking Rico minus field stabilization.

 

These are regarding mid ranks where I play. I haven't seen higher rank alts.

Also, I think dictator rail is good at low ranks due to od.

Alterations usually play a part in the combo being very good. I'll disregard Drones because Drones make many combinations good. The enemies/allies I see doing consistently well in Legend battles and most if not all game modes are:

 

Sledgehammer Thunder + Hornet

Slugger/Dragon's Breath Hammer + Viking

Incendiary Mix Firebird + Hunter 

RGC Magnum + Hornet/Viking

LCR Railgun + Hornet/Viking 

 

The enemies/allies I see doing great in the lower ranks (maximum Colonel) 

 

Compact Tanks Firebird + Hunter

Dragon's Breath Hammer + Viking

LCR Railgun + Hornet/Viking

Incendiary Rounds Smoky + Hunter 

Stock/MFS Ricochet + Hunter/Viking 

 

 

I do well with my own combos, some in specific modes but mostly in all modes, such as:

 

LC Shaft + Hornet

RAT Vulcan + Wasp/Dictator

Support Nanobots Isida + Titan (in Siege and Juggernaut)

Gauss + Viking 

 

I can consistently do well with them, doesn't mean I don't have unfortunate battles with it, just like with the other combos I mentioned. But most often, they take the top spots. 

 

The worst combo I've seen is probably Twins + Wasp. They almost always don't have protection modules for some reason. I see players using the strong combos I see but doing badly either because they're not turning their turret or they're unfortunate enough to be spawnkilled or in the wrong place at the wrong time too frequently, or both.

I tried some stuff on the test servers, and I gotta say, dictator with shooting speed regulator isn't bad, the firing is basically point and fire. I find that lifeguard is probably the most useful drone out there, as you can dish out heavy damage and have the extra revive just in case.

best all round combo.. try stock smoky during close range combat, very ineffective

autocannon solves that problem by pretty much instantly reloading the turret, and can be used in long range as well

In non-JGR battles, I play with Hornet and Defender almost exclusively unless I run into a particularly tough battle. 

  1. Vulcan is favorite at the moment with rubberized rounds
  2. Firebird with incendiary mix
  3. Magnum with RGC
  4. Smoky with incendiary rounds

In JGR

  1. Viking, Smoky with incendiary rounds, Booster
  2. Viking, Hammer with slugger or adaptive reload, Booster
  3. Viking, Magnum with RGC, Booster
  4. Viking or Hornet, Firebird with incendiary mix, Defender
  5. Wasp, Freeze with shock freeze, Defender or Blaster
