Yeah - I have autocannon.  But... most of those shots are just tickles.

Auto-cannon is actually better at long ranges because it's more frequent criticals suffer no damage loss due to distance.

Over 2.2 seconds (I think), unless you have DD, you'd have to be fairly lucky to kill a medium hull.  I've found Ricco way better with Hunter, but maybe I'll give autocannon a try with it sometime.  Wonder how cryo will do... stun it, keep shooting and if you get a "crit" it never moves.

Yeah Autocannon can allow me to get more shots off of the target or make me die quicker than I expected. Autocannon has the ability to get 2 critical hits within 4 shots. Critical, normal, normal, Critical. There, it would kill faster than Stock, but usually, it takes about 5-6 shots after the last critical to kill me. Sometimes, it goes up to 7 shots and I have more time to kill them. 

 

I've been seeing more players in the main chat saying Autocannon is really powerful or OP, but from my experience, the other Smokies are more dangerous when I engage them.

I don't find Autocannon to be strong to use or a worry to play against.  Certainly, Cryo rounds are the most irritating smoky alteration to play against in cap games but I don't find I score well with it.  I play almost exclusively now with incendiary rounds because it scores the best for me.

Supercumulative Smoky's critical hit can deal up to 5,040 damage. The afterburn damage from Incendiary Rounds critical hit isn't affected by Booster.

A shaft on a big hull is fine but a rail gun needs a more hide and seek approach.

Check the stats of my pal, linusvip. At the legends level, I've seen him get 0 kills and up to 20 deaths with this combo. Yet, I applaud him for sticking with it.

@At_Shin I can agree with Dictator-Ricochet being a good combo -  in fact, it's the one of the two Rico combos I love to use. It's very stable, can contend not only at medium but also at long range, and can chip people's health away quickly. Believe it or not, MFS on this helps not only in range, but also indirectly lessens the energy consumption through a smaller fire rate as well as not taking away damage as seen in Plasmatorch. It's really the ultimate support tool along with Dictator-Vulcan.

It has all right stats for an Mk6 level, but will need some upgrades in order to become viable, especially when up against Mk7s. Factor in the fact that you'll also encounter numerous protections, and you'll realize that it won't be able to compete as good as you'd like it to.

Better yet, just save for the Mk7 variant or another kit entirely - you're at the rank where you need to start saving for Mk7s, or you will get ground into the dust. Don't take this as an understatement.

i am saving weekly containers for an mk7 kit (currently have 71) but sometimes feel i should buy a good mk6 kit as i still have about 85k experience points to obtain before i can buy the mk7 kit.

do you think 2 mk6-10 combos will suffice for me till the General rank? As by then i think i would have saved up enough weekly containers and would have enough crystals in my digital wallet to buy an mk7 kit.

 

 

If you’re only one rank away there is no reason you should be buying another mk6 kit, also because you have a crap ton of mk6s.  Upgrades at mk7 also become stupidly expensive.

That's so, so tempting right there. I hate to say this, but it'd probably be best for you to lay off and keep saving.

I'd wait too. I also think the window for buying M6 kits has gone because you're close to Lieutenant General.

I'm close to ranking up on this account (to Lieutenant Colonel) and getting the opportunity to buy an M6 Challenger kit and start upgrading it, but I don't think buying it a later rank would make any sense.

Challenger is not as good as you'd like it to be. However, Gunslinger or Stalker do the job much more effectively and are much more fun to use, so I'd definitely recommend those two if you're thinking of a Striker kit.

Challenger allows me to combine Striker and my Hunter (Mk6.10) or my Smoky (Mk6.9) with Titan if I want to, have only used Smoky / Hunter so far.

Would like to get Hornet and Shaft too because mobile sniping could be fun (so M6 Piranha at Colonel), but probably won't have enough crystals to upgrade to more than one combo + modules to M7+, so anything else apart from Smoky / Hunter will be occasional toys.

Well there are different play styles of each player. I like twins wasp, maybe you don’t. Maybe you like smoky Viking , I don’t .

But I don’t know about linusvip xD

This post made me realize I've never seen a Twins/Wasp do a particularly great job. nest5757 was a Twins Mk2/Wasp Mk4, and they got two kills from the bomb and one from the actual turret.

I suppose hornet + twins combo can be effective up to a certain rank. However, at the legends level, those are far and few. Have a look at the active top tankers under ratings and see what combos they've used the most (along with drones, protection, type of battles, etc). That will give you a clue as to what you can expect.
