Bouncing Areas

With Vulcan's rework came its projectile's ability to ricochet off of walls. In order for a projectile to ricochet, it would have to make an in-game angle of 60 degrees to trigger it. Bouncing sounds great, but during battle, usually wherever I can bounce at 60 degrees, I can also hit the target just by firing directly at them making its usage limited or almost non-existent. And when you do get the opportunity, you have to wind down and set up to do it , perhaps being inconvenient to the user since they are accustomed to the "in your face" gameplay.

Here are the areas where you can utilise the bouncing mechanic on all non-Rubberised Rounds Vulcans in Matchmaking maps. The hull used to show these is Viking, as it has the lowest profile of all hulls. A few bounce areas can become available to Dictators. There are many "legitimate" bounce areas that have been omitted here, for reasons including:

  • It can work but you will not see what you're hitting and can be hitting nothing the entire time you're doing it
  • Shooting straight at the target is the better option
  • Trying to bounce on the surface is inconsistent and much more effort to maintain than it's worth.

I thought the angle only had to be grater than 10 degrees at minimum for the ricochet effect, no?

60 degrees for Stock, Reinforced Aiming Transmission, Shooting Speed Regulator and Incendiary Band Vulcans. 10 degrees for Rubberised Rounds Vulcans.

This is missing the most powerful ricochet. What is the other castle map? Where you have either side with the raised ridge. And a central mountain. Gah I just can't think of it.

But on the main ramp going into that central mountain, there is an arch. If you sit at the bottom of the arch with a slight tilt, ... cough, in assault mode, cough as red.

You can rico on the curved arch in all three directions... and you slaughter the whole team.

Cough. You win

Are you talking about Wolfenstein ASL? Because I was going to post this in a few minutes. I left it out initially since it wasn't a 100% reliable spot as the enemies had to be close to the ramp for me to deal damage, but yeah, it's a fun spot that I got many enemies with it.

Hmm. I dunno... problem actually with this spot is just the level and amount you have to tilt on the ramp, and aim. You actually don't get much of a view of where you are hitting them. Like from a  birds Eye, you can't see. All I do is shoot, and see numbers.

No, I don't th ink they have to be right in the archway. Or even really that close to it. I feel I shoot up and into it, and you can aim for the left, middle, and right. And I'm pretty sure left of middle, and right of middle. And each sprays a wide area with auto aim. It's utterly devastating.

Now as a counter for blue. Because of the angle you need to look at to shoot  and all, and the just seeing numbers while you stay at the base... They can easily come from around the sides and behind you on ramp and kill you. Cause you just sit their staring at the ramp/arch and look for numbers. So.

But hella fun time.

Wolfenstein Bounce spot for ASL. Had a battle where I got 15 kills using this spot. A Uranium Striker on the blue team kept ending the fun though. Another problem is that I was using Dictator so I was unintentionally blocking my teammates from using the ramp on whichever side I was doing it on.

Oh interesting. Yeah you are right. That angle looks a lot worse on dictator.

But equip titan. And you are almost right near the base of the ramp to get the right aim.

And its better. I think?

Unfortunately, none of my Vulcan accounts use Titan, so I can't get the best out of the spot.

Only @TheCongoSpiderwould post something as ridiculously painstaking to make as this. Though I’ve never used the new Vulcan, I know feel like I have, so that was nice ? Cheers, sir, and keep making stupidly complicated stuff that everyone wants to see and no one but you wants to make ?

I'll add another useful one for you in bridges. The areas are actually depicted in your current pics. And going off the edges of bridges is def something that everyone should be practising in all maps, but anyways.

Ok so in ASL, on blue side of Bridges. The ledge where the double armour is located, with the low ground of a repair and speed boost. This is where you sit, you can see it in your first posted pic for Bridges. You have a building in front of you, so you are well shielded.

Ok so you are going to shoot the bridge aiming for almost exactly where the vulcan viking is in the 2nd pic, you will also hit somewhere visible in the second pic, any enemy camping on the top of that ramp. So if they are out on that spot defending, or camping shooting into your blue asl base. Thats the counter spot.

Finally, going down all ramps vulcan is now an excellent turret. Most turrets when going down ramps will shoot the floor at the bottom of the ramp. With vulcan angle, the bullets fly off the ground and up to the advancing enemies when they are at close ish range. Very effective, and keeps you firing even when going down the ramps.. off bridges and stuff for sure. Maybe the steeper terrain ramps I'm not as sure off. But am always testing. Works famously on the brest map. Those bridges going up and off is frequent thing.

Btw, I do have dictator.

I used dictator in wolfenstein recently. But you are way to high up on the ramp to be getting the maximal range.

Just be lower on the ramp, and try it with both hull orientations facing forward. Sometimes forward facing is bit easier to use.

Now, this is even better than I first wrote. Because of the width of the arches, you get different areas based on where you hit in the arch.

Not only hitting right above, middle above, left above, and in between right and middle, in between left and in middle. Just the whole range is good for shots.

But if you hit at the side of the arch closer to the ramp, or the side of the archer closer to the blue point, everything changes the areas you can hit.

It's really an awesome spot.

In massacre, shooting from hills off hills in various areas, ... or even while driving on the floor shooting of the floor when going down creates ridiculous good ricochets.

So much to add to this thread.

So after playing with Vulcan on mobile for a while, it became clear some potential spots. These aren't safe spots where you're inaccessible to enemy fire, and it isn't guaranteed that any enemies would be there at any given time, but can be useful.

The horizontal auto-aim likely plays a part in unlocking these spots, so I've been trying to mimic it on Flash to see if they're legitimate in non-Mobile TO scenarios. Also, it may just bad perspective, but it seems as if on Mobile, the angle needed for the shots to bounce is slightly decreased.

Mobile is really helpful for utilising Vulcan's ricochet mechanic to the fullest. I can only dream of what Rubberised Rounds would feel like on Mobile. ?

Some of the spots depend on whether or not an enemy is present where the bullets will Ricochet to. Using Dictator might not be the best idea. It would be better to use a hull that is shorter, perhaps Viking or Hunter.

Have you tried out Sandal with Vulcan? There might be bouncing areas to target enemies in their base. Try shooting from the middle of your base (the highest platform), and from the corner from behind the billboard.

I don't see the option for Sandal MM. It only has the pre-MM Sandal.
