I never move my turret only my tank

If you move your turret, you can shoot and move in different directions.

Also, if you rotate both your turret and hull in the same direction, you can turn to point your gun at the enemy faster.

Being able to move both turret and hull gives you a massive advantage. You're right that turning the turret OR hull usually gives you similar rotation speed, so it doesn't matter (though there is significant difference in rotation between different turrets). But if you turn both hull and turret at the same time, you can double your rate of rotation, which could be the difference between life or death in situations where you're being attacked from behind and need to turn to fire back quickly.

Turning your turret also allows for more advanced manoeuvres like peeking from behind obstacles and driving forwards while shooting backwards at enemies in pursuit. All-in-all it's one of the most important skills to have in this game, and you have to master it if you want to be able to compete at higher ranks.

Brilliant, it might be useful under certain situation, it frees one hand so you can eat a donuts while playing Tanki...

Playing Tanki with one hand behind your back could become a new e-sport

Haha my point is that turret turns as fast as tank. Therefore only tank turning conserves mental concentration and finger dexterity is fully concentrated on one part of the keyboard it's how fighter planes turn

I only play with Hunter and Smoky and I am nearly always driving and aiming in different directions

I've won lots of 1 v 1 fights with other tankers (in MM) that don't turn their turrets or are faffing about with supplies whilst all of my concentration is focused on driving and aiming

Not turning your turret allows other players to literally drive in circles around you

One of my favourite moves is almost shooting round corners of terrain / obstacles / buildings by turning the turret and the tank in the same direction. I hit the other tank before I see it.

It is already a widely spread tactic, even at legend rank. However, if you also turn your turret at the same time it is twice as fast, try it, you won't be disappointed.

My personal favourite thing is finding a player that doesn't turn their turret, ramming their side and pushing them into a corner/wall, and then just sitting there watching as they helplessly shoot the empty space in front of them because they can't turn their hull to face me ?

Nah, the concessional Viking-Thunder who doesn't turn the turret will always get that one "calculated" shot that hits you in the back no matter how much you try to swerve thinking they couldn't possibly hit me with all the zig-zagging I'm doing... and this is one of the most annoying things in the game. ?

That works really well unless they're a Wasp and you're not a Hunter. I love dropping a bomb when they do that.

Also, worth noting that some of us only don't turn turret because our keyboards won't let us (mine won't let me use spacebar to fire if moving forward and turning left) so we don't bother.

However, that player who "can't turn their turret" may suddenly do so when they're no longer moving forward. ?

When ranking up, I was often finding myself in battle with the same guy that always used Viking/thunder. They never turned their turret, but always seemed to finish top 3.

In this case it could definitely be a mobile player, because they are 1) more likely to not turn their turret, and 2) have horizontal auto-aim, which allows them to hit you even if their turret is pointing slightly to the side.

Mobile players have auto-aim? Wow, never heard of that.

Spoiler

Aim assist is OP!!1!1

It's funny when you use it with Vulcan in a map like Highways. Bullets spraying back and forth to enemies on the left and on the right uncontrollably.

I have the mobile app. But I only use it mainly to change the missions to where I want it. Saves me a ton of crystals. Time on the other hand, well that's a different story.

I find it's more efficient to just move tank as rotation speed is the same as moving turret and it works well for me.

We want you to progress up the ranks in tanki and meet you at the legends level. If you keep doing what you're doing, at some point along your journey, you'll quit tanki or complain about buyers. Good luck and keep working those extra fingers.

dont worry! i normally play sandbox or island matches where I gain 1000 points per match. since i play 5-6 mmatches per day i get from rank to rank within a week usually. :)

Hi. My keyboard had the exact same problem. With the exact same keys. I tried alternative controls and found a solution that let me use all the controls simultaneously.

In my case, the solution was to use p L " ; instead of arrow keys. My friend solved it by using the numpad instead of arrow keys. Try some stuff like that and maybe you can also find a way.

Thanks but I like that the arrow keys are far enough away from anything else for me to hit.

In fierce battles I keep hitting Alt when firing (spacebar) and get locked out of tank controls (Alt + Spacebar is a non-adjustable Win shortcut).

Not sure turret keys in the middle of a keyboard is a good idea with me...

There are so many things you miss if don't use your turret... the first thing that comes to mind is peek-a-boo and railgun pre-shooting.

I don't know how you manage to even play like that. My keyboard has ghosting too, so I was forced to play with the mouse controls. It was hard to move from the traditional inputs I used since many years, but now I can play almost as good as I used to.

An example of the many things you will never be able to do without turning your turret: Back in the day when I was a clan player, I was specialized in backwards driving with the flag. After I took the flag I began driving forwards without looking (if I knew the map layout enough, of course), while keeping my turret backwards and shooting at the chasers.

It was so much fun, but you know what? nowadays skills like those are not even needed... you can just play unga bunga and press the "I HAVE OD READY SO I WIN YOU LOSE" button.

So yeah... all things considered... don't even bother.
