Why does Vulcan Incendiary band work with Fire Immunity?

 Share

Question

According to WIKI the Vulcan Incendiary Band conditions are... "Ignites only when self-heating"

If you have Fire Immunity equipped it "Makes your tank immune to heat damage"

If you are immune to heat damage then you can't be "self-heating".  Therefore the Incendiary Band should never kick in.

Huge loop-hole for those two alterations when equipped together.

Vulcan, when equipped with the Incendiary Band Augment, is programmed to deal fire damage whenever the yellow, energy consumption bar is fully drained. Because of this, the game, seeing that Vulcan's energy is completely out, starts doing fire damage, regardless of whether the tank is truly on fire or not, allowing this Augment to trick the system, in a way.

It only depends upon your vulcun's energy bar depleting to zero. And thus, an Incendiary vulcun with fire immuntiy is able to deal overheating damage when it's energy bar is depleted but still does not suffer overheating-self damage.

I understand how it is working at the moment.

What I'm saying is... it makes no sense.  Should not be able to deal fire damage unless it is actually "self-heating" - which is impossible with the hull alt equipped.

The two alterations should not work together.

Wow. I just tested it. You are right. One would think Incendiary Band only works when your hull starts to overheat (or at least begin when your ammo bar is depleted and your health bar is starting to be used by Vulcan. Otherwise, Heat Immunity should automatically cancel out Incendiary Band.

Because like everyone else, I like to complain about stuff without doing anything about it.

Can Devs please explain this?

Someone explained it in another topic, where it kicks in when your Vulcan has depleted its ammo.

It stems back to the simplicity of Tanki. Incendiary Band's ignition worked when it overheated, and overheating had a visual cue. You'd know that if an Incendiary Band can ignite you, it itself is also ignited. You didn't have much stuff that can visually counteract that other than the odd Freeze, bu teven then, the self-healing from your Vulcan and the cooling from the Freeze is constantly battling. Their rates are similar so it would make sense if the Vulcan was still "overheating" when Freeze is hitting them.

It was simple because what you saw was what you got. Now we have an augment that takes the visible burning away. At the very least, they should make it so that the Vulcan itself is overheating and not the hull (since it is a hull augment), but that might look weird.

Or they could make it so that Incendiary Band cannot kick in with Fire immunity. It's one thing if the Fire immunity still made you get ignited but you take no damage from it, but you don't get ignited at all. If you can't overheat, you can't heat others. It's simple. Let it work with Fire resistance and not immunity.

This is what I was expecting.  It just should not work - since the after-burn is being transfered from an overheating tank to target.

I was hoping the Devs would reply officially with one of two answers...

1) An accident - they did not realize the band would still work even though the tank is not overheating - and will be corrected.   Or...

2) They designed it this way  (even though it's incredibly unbalanced and not logical)
