Best way to use your mines.

Mines are an awesome resource in tanki. but they are not meant for placing around the base, they have a far greater purpose. here, we will discuss about how mines could be used for maximum efficiency.

My fav uses:

use 1

Lure a firebird, freeze or hammer into a mine by backing out after strategically placing a mine on a ramp.

use 2

while a firebird, freeze or hammer is after you, use double speed and a mine. they will step on the mine 90% of times.

use 3

if you somehow end up on the top of another tank (more common then you think) use a mine.

use 4 (probably one of the best)

spot a spawning enemy. drive in him. if he does not move, place a mine and drive away. he will spawn on the mine and die instantly. quite annoying if happens to you but its also quite fun.

Number 4 is pretty pointless now because of the spawn protections, so it'll deal 0 damage to them in the mean time.

 

Number 1 is the most useful tactic for me since I'm a splash user. When they step on my mine, I'll fire a shot at them immediately after and most of the time it kills them before they can even react.

One variant I use, sometimes an enemy will drive up to my nose to back me up against a wall while they shoot, this is often Twins or Firebird.

Drop mine.

And back up further, walls are often sloped.  Enemy tank often carries on pushing... onto the mine.

Doesn't usually save me, but it does get me another kill.

Highways CTF - Titan + Smoky-Incendiary+miner drone

Drive up to far end of upper bridge so you can fire down on enemy base.  Quickly mine the slope that leads down.

Start killing.  Anyone tries to close they will detonate mines before they reach you.  Drop a couple more mines on slope.

Even if you die they will pay the price to access that upper road.

I hate the high bridge in highways. It's too much of a game changer in that map for these two reasons:

 

1) stupid easy access to the heart of the enemy base and back home.

2) allows you to shoot into the enemy base and not getting shot back as easily. Which means it easily becomes a prime camping spot.

Exactly.  Spent an entire battle there... must have had 25 kills there.  And my own teams rabbits run by me and I just block the chasers.

I use Isida, and I am constantly avoiding mines. I am a big user of use #3, just sometimes I do it on a mammoth and they still have loads of health left. Anyone have a strategy on how to avoid mines from a player directly above you?

I once somehow ended up with my Dictator on top of the enemy Juggernaut, pressed Shift and 5, and mined him to death.

I literally just used it right now and it worked.

If you are playing with mammoth and overdrive is ready, use overdrive. else, use double armour, drop a mine and drive off. even if he doesnt land on the mine, at least you will be saved.

That person was most likely focused on killing you or was unaware of the mine in front of them. Works best when they're AFK. But who even goes AFK in the middle of battle anymore these days?

I think being on the move constantly is the best counter against being mined from above.

When there was a mission to kill with mines, I found some afk tanks and placed the mine in front of them then shoved them into the mine to get a kill.

That guy was pointing his turret at me while intangible. and while he was doing that, i went in, dropped a mine, and got out.

In my opinion mines shouldn't even exist in the game. It's a great way to make the game unplayable and a stalemate because you're a titan magnum who camps in the back of the base, drops 6 mines at a time with the saboteur drone, and then places a titan dome ever 5 seconds from the insane amount of kills you can get.

OwO thats the first time i heard of such an incident. In my league, 60% of the people consider mines useless.

Well, I do have a use for the mines that I have never seen being adopted by anyone else, even if I find it really efficient.

 

Basically, when an enemy is running with the flag/ball, I put myself sideways in front of them (to block them off from running) and while I shoot at them, I place a mine. 

Often they keep on going forwards, so they step on the mine and get killed.

I have used this method for years, 80% of the time I can make them hit the mine before I die. And even if I get killed, the teammates (if they aren't complete monkeys) can catch up and kill the enemy off.

Bro the thing is, they are always monkeys. (in my case at least) im aiming with a shaft at the flag holder, but nooooo they have to push me off the ledge. and the one who has the flag has to go out on battlefield with freeze.
