What should I name this?

I woke up to my alarm blaring and my phone buzzing against the wood of my table near my bed. I woke up, wondered where I was, what the noise I was hearing was, and who I was for a quick moment before realizing my 5 A.M. alarm had gone off. Rubbing my eyes, I grabbed my phone, dismissed the alarm, and laid back down for a moment. I was drifting off to sleep when I realized I actually needed to get up. If I was gonna attempt to be productive today, I had to start early and start strong. I kicked the covers off. This was one of the few moments of the day when I was glad for the warmer weather; I wasn't going into shock just taking my covers off anymore. Anyways, I, half against my will, dragged myself out of bed and opened the door.

It was 5 A.M., and still dark outside. The sun hadn't risen yet, but that was no problem. This meant I got a head start. I tried to remember what was first on my list of things I was going to attempt today to seem productive, and the first thing was to actually write something instead of procrastinating. Yeah, the first thing on my "list of productivity" was something that was not work-related at all, and most would consider it procrastinating. Either way, I walked up to the computer, turned it on, signed in, and opened the Tanki forum. I sat down, and that was when I realized I actually had nothing to write about. I had no ideas whatsoever.

I sat there for about five minutes before I realized I wasn't actually thinking, merely zoning out. Then I focused my attention on trying to brainstorm ways to think of ideas. My head was hurting and I was already confused at this point, but that was no big deal. Opening cupboard after cupboard with no true intention in mind, that was when I had my first brainwave.

I could EAT, guys! EATING exists! This will definitely help me think of something to write, I'm sure of it!

I grabbed a Clif bar from the cabinet, ate it, and sat back down. Now here comes the actual thinking part of the whole process. I stared at the empty template for a post in front of me, and let my mind wander. It did not take very long for me to go from thinking of things to write, to looking outside and wondering how much longer until the sunrise, to realizing I'm still hungry, to realizing that's actually thirst, to needing to go to the bathroom, and right back to thinking of things to write. By the time this loop had done it's course twice, the sun was already out and it was 6:30 A.M..

I was starting to wonder if I should just go back to sleep and see if my less tired mind could think of anything to write, when I had my second brainwave. Taking my phone out, I snapped a picture of the screen and texted my friends asking, "What should I name this?" I was too lazy to text the group chat, so I went the obviously less time-consuming route and texted each of my friends individually. I copy and pasted my question, then texted them each that.

I thought I had an idea for a story. I went to the Title area, but I accidentally pasted the question into the title. I stared at this for a few moments and then, quite suddenly, I felt like Einstein. I had a great idea for a story, and it only took two hours! I sat down and began typing.

"I woke up to my alarm blaring and my phone buzzing against the wood of my table near my bed.[...]"

Article approved!

A great, descriptive short story based on the common struggles of a writer. Very relatable, unique, and creative piece.

Lose strikes again!

Awesome story! I believe I've heard a story or two that have a similar concept, but yours definitely beats them all. I enjoyed the plot, especially because I could relate to the struggle of being a writer trying to come up with ideas (I actually wrote semi-competitively for a year, it was full of deadlines and plot diagrams and mentors and people who kept making me feel bad about myself, and I absolutely hated it). I somehow feel like this could be a short series, but as a one-off piece it's probably even better as series usually fall into some sort of cycle (where the same things happen again and again). Overall, great piece! I can't wait for more.

Rumor has it that Lose still doesn't know "what he should name this".

This particular piece is giving me some ideas...

I can confirm I am still clueless as what to name it, my friends never responded
