MM balancing - imcompetency or favouring russian players?

Yeah, I think the lead developer if he really does want the game to improve, is just over thinking the small things rather than the more important issues that are sticking out like a sore thumb. I really don't buy his theory.

Well MM is clearly not doing a good job. I used to have a 10/10 m2 combo where my GS would be way higher than most other players. I don't know if it's just me but to me it always felt like I was '''punished'' or at least disadvantaged with noob teammates because the game expects me to carry them like babies. Especially when, as you said, balance is nowhere to be found in most battles.

MM is broken ?

 

1) For each example like that there are plenty that are the opposite.

2) TJUG... all it takes is one excellent player as the JUG and that team can win. If that 1 player never dies they can't lose can they.  It's like the goalie position in hockey - can make the difference even on a crappy team.  TJUG is less of a team battle-mode than most of the others.

When I become my teams jug, then our teams jug death toll takes an abrupt halt usually for the rest of the battle because not only do I play in a practical manner, but my mk7 thunder and Viking combo is fully MUed, so I'll be having a lot of HP and can deal quite a punch.

 

But yeah for the most part, if you play in a practical manner as the jug, you're gonna do well for your team.

Pretty much had it with MM.

Keep getting stuck on teams with players sporting GS from 4500-5500... in Legend battles and these are, at worst Field Marshals or Commanders.  Then I look at other team and lowest GS is like 8300.  Gonna start exiting all the battles I'm placed in with noobs/mults like that.

You look for the lowest GS on both teams to decide whether to leave. I look for the highest GS on both sides to decide whether to leave. Oh yes, one other thing, I don't like camping rails, magnums and shafts on my side in most MM modes.

Hard to tell for sure because the image is of the flash version where GS, alterations, and protection modules isn't viewed.

 

Without those indicators, it'll be really hard to tell whether or not a battle is going to be balanced even if everyone is in the same rank range.

So with the visible rank range you had no feeling on how it would have obviously finished?
Ranks is afterall not an issue in MM making up? ok, I take that.

Well, it really depends on how wide the rank spread is. Your image shows that everyone was in a reasonable rank range. So it was hard to tell who was gonna win.

 

Now imagine if team A mainly consisted of colonels and team B mainly consisted of marshals and commanders. Then It would be safe to assume that team B would win due to them being able to get better equipment than team A.

Regarding the example above, those ranks are a long way from legend and less tankers will be on steroids. I think it was 4 or 5 years since I was at those ranks. Also, you can see that all players on both sides are putting in work and there is no one with a terrible k/d like 0-10. There is a sense of balance there and no one is completely helpless.

At legend you get ridiculous instances where someone gets 35 kills in a short battle. When battles go bad, they go bad very quickly at the top rank. A fully upgraded titan with double armor is devoured in 1 second by hornet overdrive with booster drone. Thankfully not all buyers are so ridicuously op.

Groups vs Randoms. We don't have an official indicator for groups. The best we can do is look for identical usernames or clan tags, or the occasional suspiciously clever and effective teamwork from random members of the enemy team. We are told that Groups will always fight against other groups. Every time I clearly see a group in the enemy team, I will ask my team if any of the members are in a group. Most of the trime, no response as there is the obvious language barrier and I don't want to take too much time in the heated battle just talking.

 

A few days ago, I played an ASL battle. The teams weren't full. My team had had 4 members at the start and the enemy team had 6. I immediately ask my teammates if they were in a group. And this:

For nearly two minutes in the battle, it was just us and a newly spawned player coming near 5 minutes left. The original 4 were me, LTG, Pindlboy and Luxario. I wasn't in a group. LTG and pindl weren't in a group. And it took long for another player to enter our team, so it's unlikely that maxrider45 was in a group with Luxario.  

 

Black.L-Caufelix may have also been in that group due to him having Dictator Isida, the same combo as BlackBoy. One was using Support Nanobots and the other was using Broadband Emitters. Very clever. This is the closest documented thing to Groups vs Randoms I've had.
