Auto Self Destruct should end when flipped back up

Recommended Posts

Auto-self destruct is not a terrible idea in its own right, but it needs fixing. The Auto Self Destruct screwed me over so many times when I do a barrel roll in the air, but still land properly. This happens a lot when I'm playing juggernaut mode and jugg ODs, or when I flip to the side of my tank but I use my turret's recoil to flip back up.

The Auto Self Destruct timer should automatically end when it senses that the tank is flipped back up. Until this change is made, I will turn off the option for Auto Self Destruct.

Valid

But... this is the exact reason why the option to disable auto-SD exists. I don't see a reason to mix the two.

Then what's the point of having auto-SD if it ends up screwing yourself over and is clearly inferior to doing it manually? This update was supposed to be a quality-of-life update, not an update where you are given another option and have to choose between two options to see which ones better.

A good thing that came out of this update is if I do decide to self-destruct on my own terms, the time taken to do so is less.

For the newbies and noobs who don't know how to self destruct yet. And as @Maf said, you can just disable it. Only takes about 15-30 seconds to do so.

I agree with Sensei. There are times when I flip on my side while trying to capture flags in ASL, jumping to a lower platform, etc. and I can easily flip back up.

Of course there's the option to disable it, but that's not exactly a legit argument against making the feature better. It won't hurt to have flipping/landing back on tracks disable auto-self destruct.

But the devs don't know how to or just refuse to improve on new added features. Perfect example would be challenges, still grindfests as of January 2019. Another good example is the new spawn protection, wasp bomb and jug OD can still flip you, hunter OD can still stun you, and hornet OD can still kill you.

While suggesting ideas here, we do ignore the incompetency of the developers, don't we?

It doesn't need fixing, in the settings either you tick yes and you self destruct in 3 seconds, or you untick it and you press delete when you know you won't make it back. Simple. Stop asking for useless babysitting feature.

So what's the damn point of the update if not a single sane player would use the feature? This isn't an option where you have to choose what to buy during a garage sale, I should be able to have the best features especially given that this is a "quality of life" update. This update isn't supposed to be one that adds another layer of complexity in the META game.

Can we ask an update for turning my turret automatically and shoot tanks when in front of it? i am too lazy to push the spacebar, this destroy my quality of life. Another layer of complexity (lol), so desperate to find needles in a haystack. Obviously this feature is for newbie. I think you don't fit the description, don't you?

Here is an idea, if you want to get to know better the balance and driving (limitation and strong point) of your hull you should join a parkour team. This is the best way to see what you can do with it and learn how to jump over pits and jumping from cliff without flipping.

What's there to lose if this feature does get implemented? Newbies who are using this feature undergo auto-self destruction within exactly the same time, but if they quickly fall back on their tracks, they don't self-destruct. Win-win.

You cannot abort a self-destruction procedure once it was started in either chosen mode (manually or automatically induced), and I think this feature of the game is fine as it is. So if abortion was invented, which I would not recommend, then it would have to be invented for both modes, for fairness reasons.

There were and are issues with wrongful self-destruction in the game, from the garage visit before respawn in HTML5 (which gladly was solved), to the excesses of an anti-cheat feature when tanks happening to move on top of each other (which is not yet solved). The topic brought up here is not an issue.

Yup. It's an idea. Not the need of the hour, but still a viable option.

P.S. There have been ideas about proper confirmation of manual self-destruction (that don't take much extra time, either), as well as about cancellation of manual self-destruction by pressing delete again.

Once again, this is a quality of life update. It should make things easier for the player, and the current system is so bad that no one willingly uses it. You keep on strawmaning my arguments. An update that would turn your turret automatically and shoot tanks is basically legalizing aim-bot. This is a false comparison. An aimbot update is not the same as the quality-of-life auto self destruct update. The ability to have the auto-self destruct abort when the tank flips back up isn't going to make people 10000 times powerful and does not remove a major aspect of the game (as opposed to your aimbot comparison where the act of shooting is removed). Come at me with a real argument.

Parkour is a waste of time.

Clearly unticking it would be the prefered method by every single player, making the creation of the update absolutely stupid. Moreover, if this update was geared towards newbies, shouldn't we be teaching them how to use their turret's recoil to flip back upwards? The old way for newbies was as bright as day. A huge pop up saying press delete to kill yourself isn't that hard to follow. The auto-self destruct was MEANT to be a babysitting feature. I want to see it perfected rather than a huge waste of time.

I understand you TS, and I agree with you, if they made auto SD it's like they are disable a character of DELETE key and make it automatic

ok and why they wouldn't make auto fire from weapon and disable the function of space bar and you can turn it off manually from settings

ok and why they won't make auto use of repair kit when you need it without click the Number 1 because a lot of players see it hard to do it quickly and make all of your strategy in playing only just to move your tank by WASD the other thing will be automaticly

BTW  in real I see this a stupid update

Teaching newbie would be a good idea, I can feel it needs an article on it (with video) in the Newspaper. @Person_Random

If you are flipped upside down, there is not much you can do unless you are close to a cliff. If you are on the side, instinctively you will use your turret to shoot the ground. After a while they will master it. yOU do not need the Auto-self-destruct when you are on the side (if you have recoil turret and if you hull is not too heavy).
When is started i had no clue what to do when I was flipped upside down, i had to ask my son. (shame) I guess I could have ask inthe chat too (but did not know how to access it either). So for Newbie it is the minimum requirement to have this auto self destruct. Anyway the old day we learnt the hard way, like jumping with no recoil turret from the top floor of Madness.

Players aren't THAT smart where they know to use their turret's recoil to get back up. Honestly, i learned that method by watching other players do it. Moreover, newbies already have a pop-up come up when they flip over. It literally says press delete to self destruct. It doesn't get any more obvious than that.

Players are smart, be nice. It was there back in days. Anyway there is bigger fish to deal with.
