Private Friend Chat System & Allowing Friends To Join Your Battle At Any Rank

Recommended Posts

What I want that I could think could be implemented into the game is that just for friends only, there would be a way to chat, regardless of your rank, and also, if there could be a way to let friends join your battle, regardless of your rank, so I'm just asking if there is a way to do this? And if this does get implemented, then that would be great.

Pretty self explanatory, if I want to play tanki with an irl friend for example and his account is third lieutenant and mine is Generalissimo, we can't play together at all, even if we wanted to do an xp/bp 1v1, or he wanted to see my rankup, or do some parkour or whatever it may be. These battles don't have funds anyway, so I don't see any potential for exploitation, just allow people to make the rank slider as long or as narrow as they'd like for private battles.

I'm sure this wouldn't even require that much coding, and whilst it may be a small ask so might be considered too insignificant to be implemented, I've never seen a radical change proposed here make it to the game, so never say never I guess.

Let me know what you think.

Valid  Completed

Creating a new chat window specifically for your friends is pretty much useless, as you can already privately message people in the regular chat. To do, just simply type in your friend's nickname, and add a colon (" : ") and type a message to them. It won't be able to be read by any players besides your friend.

However, your idea of making battles for all ranks may be implemented.

If it is a private battle, it usually is between close friends and there won't be much bullying taking place. If they want a fair battle they can just leave. Usually the point of such battles is for cool pictures, parkour, or for the screenshot contests where you need a matching paint. It would not hurt gameplay much.

Private battles with friends shouldn't be the main motive for adding an update, however. The Developers are busy working on much bigger and more influential updates, and they should focus on that, instead of just making it a priority to allow people of all ranks to join the same battle.

Regarding your idea of making battles for all ranks, this would also be pointless. High ranked players would most likely "bully" low ranked players, by decimating them with their heavily more powerful equipment. This would lead to lots of negativity, and the game tries to avoid negativity as much as possible.

when i look at facebook at their page i see something different in the reactions given to a post from tanki

There are Social Media Moderators to remove any negative posts, just like here on the Forum, and in the chat. There's always going to be something that could lead to negativity, but the Developers try their best to avoid adding anything that would guarantee negativity to ensue. If high ranked players were just running around battles with recruits in them, absolutely decimating these much lesser experienced tankers, the lower ranked players could start insulting the higher ranked players, and even quit the game based on such occurrences, and this is almost guaranteed to occur, which is why the idea was declined.

I don't understand coding, but changing the rank spread for a private battle does not sound too hard. The actual battle is the same. Its like changing the log-in rank on the forum.

Also, I am disturbed at how often that excuse is used, adding entirely new features to Tanki which many players dislike is the devs main concern, when they should rather be fixing up social interactions and other minute gameplay issues which they are too 'busy' for.

That was ONE of the reasons why this idea was refused. More importantly, the idea would cause negativity amongst players, and the Developers attempt to avoid that as much as possible.

@Maf has stated frequently that custom battles are supposed to be a secondary mode that doesn't offer reward, only for casual matches. You currently need to be a friend to enter a private battle. If your friends are bullying you, then leave and remove them from your friends list. You have the ability to check your opponents' rank before joining. There is little to do in the battle anyway if there is no rewards, other than a little bit of skill-proving and parkour and photo-shoots. It can even be a special photo-shoot mode which allows a different rank spread. I don't think it should be a problem.

We will re-look at this idea if they change it so you can't get ANY rewards from PRO Battles (which could very well happen, they already removed funds from XP/BP which was a major push in that direction), but until then, the idea will remain declined.

Thank you, that was lightning-fast!

Why can't a photo-shooter mode have the same status as xb/bp plus unlimited rank spread?

That's actually a genuinely good question, but I think the only reason is that there is currently no format listed as "Pictures," or something similar, to allocate that.

Maybe suggest creating a format specifically for taking pictures of tanks and/or making it so parkour battles have no rank restrictions ?

This is true. Status changed to valid.

That was literally the whole point of the original post, except sub out "parkour" for "private" since both modes have no funds anyway

Glad it got changed to valid, but doubtful it's of any importance to the devs who'd much rather focus on releasing ultra skins for $$$

Completed

The recent changes removed the rank limitations, now the low ranks as well as high rank players can play in the same pro-battle, and you can invite your low rank friends
