The Hornet OD Issue

Given the on-going upgrade disparity and legends with drones overpowering every match, I suggest you fools use Hornet OD while you can to actually get somewhere in the game if you're gonna play without paying.

Hornet overdrive is the biggest "cheat" in the game. I can one-shot anyone. It's absolutely pointless upgrading your hull protection.

This might be controversial, but I don't have a problem with OD Hornets one shotting me, same for being in the wrong place at the wrong time for Wasp, Viking, Hunter, or Mammoth

What I do have a problem with is 20 seconds, I think I've been killed twice by the same Hornet during that 20 second window a few times.

What's the justification for Hornet's OD duration being longer than that of Viking?

Viking gets very high burst damage for a short duration. Hornet gets potentially high damage for a longer duration. The damage you can output with Viking in those 7 seconds is, generally, much higher than Hornet can in 20 seconds.

I say potentially high damage because Hornet's Overdrive more or less depends on the user having double damage activated in order to be truly destructive. Viking gets that and then some just by activating the Overdrive alone. And then it gets an vastly increased firing rate and more impact force. This is not taking into account protection modules. It's when multiple enemies have protection modules against your turret is Hornet starts becoming objectively more practical.

Ignoring the difference in passive charging rate between the two, the biggest difference is that Hornet is allowed to manually receive Overdrive charge while the duration is active. This is a big part of what makes it more practical than Viking's Overdrive.

We all know that that’s exactly the opposite. Every time I’m gonna place a bomb first thing I do is check whether there’s a hunter nearby.

Technically, wasp, can drop it's bomb near hunter and it'll have two choices:

1) try to survive the bomb somehow without using EMP, benefit is that the hunter gets to keep its OD for a more useful time.

2) use OD to disable the bomb, benefit is that the hunter gets to survive.

2 out of 3 times the wasp bomb guarantees that the hunter will be much less of a threat to their team for the time being.

I've been spawn-killed by the same hornet 2 spawns in a row...

Plus hornet, with the 20 seconds, can activate OD while under cover - then find targets and reveal itself when ready.  Hornet OD is rarely spoiled.

Viking on the other hand, with only 7 seconds, must be in position before it activates OD.  Much greater chance of being killed and losing the OD for naught.
