The Making of an Avatar

When I was recently going through the list of AWS articles listed under my name, I came to the realization that my next article would be number ten. As a looked back at some of my first pieces, they seemed to look a bit dreary. I definitely needed to freshen up my articles for my 10th publication. However, I was clearly at a loss of how to achieve this.

I went through some of the greater AWS writers and guest writers, and even some newspapers reporters' work, but to my dismay, I couldn’t pinpoint what exactly I could add to put my writing on another level. Reporters have their own style, and they all have headers which I could hardly dream of piecing together. I wasn’t interested in taking apart and redoing my whole writing style.

Additionally, I wanted something noticeable that I could tell everyone that it was for my 10th article. I was wondering “What was that one detail that many great writers had that I could quickly add?”

I sat back in my chair and gave a sigh. I would simply have to wait for the night when my writing juices flow as if on an overdrive. I felt like a tank stuck with better players waiting for its overdrive to refill.

Later in the day, I was reading the published version of my interview from Sabry. The formatting was lit; I just was annoyed at how lame I looked in my avatar. Generally, Sabry does his interviews with the upper-echelons of Tanki’s society, so he needs an avatar to look sensible next to theirs. However, this plain dude that represented me looked pathetic. (No offense to Sabry, he does a great job)

I went on to realize how Sacrifice always had an amazing avatar at the tail-end of his articles, and Person_Random recently created an avatar that incorporated his (former) discord avatar. Maybe I had a lead for my 10th article!

I thought I may have just gotten the right idea, but I had to check if it was feasible. I went to the wiki page on avatars, and scrolled down until forever. If I could piece a few together and customize it, my avatar would be awesome. I knew what customization I wanted to stick in, as I have already placed my discord avatar in a couple of my topics. The question was what hat, emblem, or handkerchief to attach.

I liked how the YouTuber TO admin had an emblem on his helmet that fit the head and scarf well. However, I wanted the handkerchief and scheme a drop darker. So I took the Chat Admin’s avatar, added a CB emblem on his helmet, replaced the chat symbol with my own symbol. I quickly added a title with a bit of a curve, and now my articles have a new addition!

However, I was unsure what to do for my 10th article. I wanted to explain some of the backstory behind my new avatar, however, I couldn’t just continue a series of mine with a random new feature and an explanation.

In my classic style; I thought a poem would work out. I started writing a poem about my avatar:

This is my new avatar;

Under this banner, my articles will go far.

Why was I in this state?

An avatar I did not yet create;

I just hope that it’s never too late.

Soon, I nixed the idea, as I couldn’t write a poem that long to earn its own stand-alone article. It needed to have a better plot, and be more realistic. I figured it had to be a stand-alone piece that described the backstory, changed some details in the story for a dramatic effect, and I was finished! Now I have somewhere to display my avatar!

Approved.

Awesome article! I'm glad to hear the backstory of your avatar as it shows your thought process behind customizing it to make it your very own. The little poem was also a great way to sum up the article, which I really enjoyed. The only issue here is that it seems like your text has a bit of an indent that I just can't seem to fix (and have no idea why it's there either), so if that could be altered in future, it would be great. Anyways, nice tenth article and keep on innovating!

Edits: added commas

For your avatar if you can have a transparent background, or at least try to get a black background (it is #111111 in hexa).

See a couple of avatars I made for friends - No visible background:

But there is one (except the last one):

Wait wut is in HExA?

(I had made an avatar too, it looks like a child's drawing because I am really noob at it).

Color can be coded with three set of information Red, Green and Blue. the value for each could be done in RGB ten-decimal RGB (0123456789, from 0 to 255)  or with hexadecimal-digit form: 0123456789abcdef, from 00 to FF. Now there is a fourth element for transparency, so: Red, Green, Blue and transparency/Alpha (RGBA).

255 RGB <=> FF hexa

Color Name Hex Color Code RGB Color Code
Black #000000 rgb(0, 0, 0)
Red #FF0000 rgb(255, 0, 0)
Maroon #800000 rgb(128, 0, 0)
Yellow #FFFF00 rgb(255, 255, 0)

see https://www.color-hex.com/ and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors

You can try to use hexa by changing the color of your text by using the tool of the forum (more color) ?red (#ff0000)
Or make invisible text: At_shin is the best (#111111)

Thank you @Viking4s and @Spinister for your advice in avatar making. I like what you did Spinister. The truth is that the main point of the Avatar was to write an article about the struggles of making one, although I hadn't put much time and effort into this one, so thank you for pointing out the background. My articles have a new look that is better than ever!

@Sabrytoun_Superman I am sorry about your name, I must have inadvertently edited it out.

All in all, I liked the concept of your avatars for me, so I created one for my articles. However since it is not my official forum avatar, only this:

svgxml3Csvg20xmlns3D22http3A2F2Fwww.png

I don't know if I need it to be used as my forum-wide avatar, I would only use it to decorate my pages.
