Flash restrictions

Yo, do you guys really find it as a better solution to just move all the players to HTML5 in a moment instead of moving them smoothly?

I agree with just doing it in one go. As lots of other players have expressed their opinions and frustrations about Flash restrictions, this would be a much better way to go about it. Moving smoothly into something like this is not the way to go...Yes this works for some things, but this is not one of those things that should be done "smoothly" Of course, it's understandable it'll take time, effort, resources and dramatically increase the work-load for Developers to work on putting all features into the HTML5 version as well as new bugs to squash. But it's certainly a better option.

Also, what an awesome way @Tokamak worded their opinion and ideas, love it. Hope that it is considered:

@Boef

I agree, but Flash is being dismantled piece by piece before being discontinued completely. I know that HTML5 is better than Flash. Right now, Flash players are in the phase of migrating to HTML5.

HTML5 has way too much ping and stuttering issues. The game abruptly pauses for a few seconds and then resumes. Playing through lag takes a whole different skill set. It's very difficult to land a shot while sniping with shaft. I used to often play this game but now I am stopping for the time being until the administration fixes these problems. Is anyone else experiencing these issues too?

Previously, there is serious memory leak issue which causes the fps drop significantly after playing 1 or more matches. It seems that it is fixed in the recent update.

I remember playing the game using the launcher and after every five or so matches, there would be an error message and I would have to re-launch the launcher. Impressive. I'm done with that bullcrap.

I remember going online on a Saturday morning. I went to the garage and saw that the Bulldozer kit was available. I noticed that Thunder M3 was included and I jumped up in happiness. I was patiently waiting to get the final modification for my favourite turret and when I found it, I bought it immediately. I dominated in battle. Nobody could defeat me. I then bought Hornet M3 and I only got stronger. Good times...

You either use it or soon you won't be able to play. We understand that you like Flash and don't want to move to HTML5. But Flash will be discontinued by Adobe and Flash version will be removed.

It's not a matter of liking the Flash version, the thing is most likely there are a lot of players who just cannot play in the HTML5 version due to the low FPS rate.  The few times I've been able to join a game in HTML5 I've had 0 FPS, today I had just 3 FPS (the maximum rate for me). It's not that easy to upgrade a PC in some countries and less during this time of lockdown.

September 25th 2020 Updates shows a list of many bug fixed. In the future, developers plan to rework all the MK7 skins so that they look super modern, similar to how Tanki X graphics looked, perhaps better. Read this: https://en.tankiwiki.com/Updates

Once Flash has been discontinued, the HTML5 development speed will kick off twice as fast as now.

Speaking about the sheer beauty of HTML5, I personally think that it does not look good enough because the background and text are in grey and white. Those colors are very dull and does not suit the look of Tanki Online. To make the appearance of the HTML5 version of Tanki Online look so much better, why not use green colors as with the Flash version of the game?

Colors would be better suited to each individual eyes if players could customize colors as they prefer. For example, color blind people and people with sensitive eyes or other eye related issues. Please read on the information I gave below that talks about the customization of colors and the overall game's interface, plus its new website.

Green-Beauty-Flash.png

That greenish color theme that the Flash version of Tanki Online makes it unique and more "military-like", which is the feature and the theme that most players like the best, including me as well. The green beauty of Flash is what gives Tanki Online a true military look which is how I would expect the HTML5 version of Tanki Online to look. The same green theme must be made as well for the mobile version of the game.

In addition to what I have discussed above, it would be very ideal to have a color option interface where players can customize the colors of both the background and text in both the HTML5 version of Tanki Online and the mobile version of the game. Giving full control to players on which colors they wish to use on their own personal accounts would be the necessary step to improving the HTML5 and mobile versions of Tanki Online so that players can be more comfortable with their favourite color theme and personalization of self feelings for the game.

All of that also involves making the new Tanki Online website green in default colors, plus giving players the freedom to customize the game's website and overall interface with their preferred colors they wish to use. Why force players to use a dull grey color in HTML5 and mobile versions of the game they don't like to use. Please give players the freedom to change the colors to any color they want, keeping the green theme colors as the default military color theme for Tanki Online and the new website.

Another thing that players are demanding right now is that to make the HTML5 version of Tanki Online organized more the way Flash is organized such as the garage, and other features like game modes and drop down list of game modes and buttons. HTML5 is very good as it stands now, but it will be much better if the development team listens and does exactly what other players want for HTML5. One of the first steps to improving HTML5 is to fix all game issues such as annoying bugs and glitches and other game breaking bugs that must be eliminated once it for all. The other thing is to make HTML5's interface look and work more like Flash both in its appearance and user friendly usability.

My requests above are both for improving the appearance of HTML5 for matchmaking battles and pro battles. That is, of course, the battle list colors and appearance, not the game modes themselves, but rather their interface usability, look and feel that players want to be improved. The same thing has to be done to improve the overall appearance, feel and look of the mobile version of the game's interface to make it more pleasing for all players.

When everything is done the way players want and expect it to be, then more and more players will come and play Tanki Online rather than leaving the game disappointed. Another thing is that Tanki Online will become more pleasing to the eyes of all players. That is both old and new players. Players are demanding for a Tanki Online experience that works perfectly well for all players. That is new and old players, even parkour and eSports players playing different types of battles in Tanki Online. Lets all comment, work together for greatly improving how Tanki Online looks and works so that this game can be comfortable for everyone, so that no one moans about this and that not working right for them.

This thread that I have written is suppose to target all players of the Tanki Online community; English, Russian, whatsoever! In addition to targeting players, this thread written by me, RIDDLER_8, is targeted to game developers are the whole community of forum administrators so they can understand what me and all other players are looking into for a much more comfortable and pleasing gaming experience with playing Tanki Online and using its HTML5 and mobile interface, plus its new official website.

Thank you so much for patiently reading and understanding my thread what I have discussed above. I hope you all live a healthy and long thriving life out there. Stay at home, stay safe, and enjoy playing and developing Tanki Online for the foreseeable and bright future for this unique and evolving game that the whole world love to play. Good luck to you all.

@Ap3xA1pha

No. I do not want to play Tanki Online with an interface from 2009. That's not the point to what I have said above. What I have said above is that the HTML5 and mobile versions of Tanki Online must have an interface that is a hybrid between the Flash version and HTML5 for better comfort for all players.

I am aware that many players don't like Flash. I did not say that players would go back to Flash. You misunderstood. Flash players will slowly migrate to HTML5 and mobile, but the interface of HTML5 and mobile must be green like Flash and be color customizable to suit the likability for each individual players.

The performance of HTML5 will improve. Once Flash is gone, development and improvements for HTML5 and mobile will happen twice as fast.

What are the recommended system requirements for HTML5? I think the system requirements section may not be updated in the knowledge database.  4GB RAM or more?

The amount of complaining over switching from a working client to another better working client with very simple interface changes is honestly bewildering to me...

I use HTML5 whenever I play Matchmaking battles, it works 10x better than the Flash version. I don't understand why some people are so reluctant to switch to the HTML5 version. Sure, the graphics might not be the best right now, but I ensure you, they will fix this in the coming months, as they won't need to support the Flash version anymore.

Well bro, for many players (like me), HTML5 does have many errors (nowadays after almost every battle, irrespective of whether it's Pro or MM), and the FPS and PING lack consistency. On Flash, even though the FPS was low, it was stable. It at least allowed me to play. On HTML5, my tank suddenly freezes cuz the FPS just dropped to 1 from 59. Or tanks start teleporting cuz the PING shot up to 2k.

Also, if you lost connection mid-battle, you would remain in the battle for a certain period until you reconnected, on Flash. On HTML5, it means ControlChannelDisconnectException error.

Well, I still like HTML5 more than Flash cuz of free Pro battles and less loading time. On Flash, it used to take ages to load even the Garage. At least for me, idk about the others...

I got your point, and I think you're lucky to not have most of the issues that others face. Also, it's great that you adapted well to the new interface.

It's just that there are quite a few players that face very frustrating problems on HTML5, and there's also some nostalgia involved. In my case, I didn't really have a choice cuz Chrome automatically blocked Flash and redirected me to the HTML5 page early on. And I didn't know how to enable Flash or download the client back then. So I just went on with the flow, and got quite used to HTML5.

Don't get me wrong, I respect your opinion, and I support what you said. It's just that I felt like explaining the other point of view.

IMHO, Tokamak's suggestion was the best. Tanki should do whatever Tokamak posted, and kill the Flash version in one clean stroke. What they're doing now is slow torture for many. (So yeah, just stop the Flash version. Don't keep making it more and more handicapped and frustrate the players. Either let them enjoy it fully while it lasts, or just kill it. @Marcus)

The minimum recommended amount of RAM is 2GB for PC and 1GB for mobile. Preferably, for HTML5 to work properly 4GB of RAM, or more is required for smooth gameplay.

I am very sure that the CPU is a way more important factor than RAM, since the amount of RAM doesn't determine how smooth a game runs

I have an AMD Ryzen 7 - 8 core processor with 16GB of RAM, so I don't have any issues. The game runs very fast and smoothly on my desktop PC without and lags. For me, Tanki Online works perfectly well using any web browser.

How many centuries will it take to finally getting html5 to run properly? (approximately)

I'd say maybe 50 - 100 - But Tanki developers would have had their consciousness transferred to machines from all the money they make exploiting players, so maybe never.
