What's a fairly reasonable GS to have at the rank of colonel?

When I was a Colonel, my GS was in the low-mid 6000s. Starting at Brigadier, my GS capped at 6795 because of the new Mk update, so my Firebird and Hunter got maxed out pretty quicky (I had one MU left for Firebird and two MUs left for Hunter). I didn't MU my prots past 31% because MUing a prot is super expensive.

Of course, this was before the exp boosts so the acceptable GS has gone down substantially.

Can someone or two make a new account, play as much as they can on that account until they reach colonel and then record their GS upon reaching colonel?

And while you're at, can you also record your GS when you have reached every single rank that came before colonel? Except recruit that is.

With my best combo of titan and smoky, i sit atop a gs of 6200+. The lowest i'd have is roughly 4500ish. I should be ok with titan smoky until i reach colonel, right?

Honestly (not that i'm one to talk since i'm a lieuteant), i think that 5100 should be a reasonable amount. I think it's like a mk 5-5 combo with some mk4 modules. Should be alright. My hunter fire mk 4-10 gives me 4500 something.

I would have said ~ 6000-6200.  But with exp boost I think that's too optimistic as ranking outpaces crystals.  Maybe with 1 combo and fewer modules it's possible.

Would you say that for someone starting an account today, the best strategy is to use a single combo and brute-force your way to Legend as fast as possible (within a month, perhaps?), then focus on expanding the garage?

Unless the player lucks out in their containers continuously or dedicates the account entirely to Juggernaut, this is not a good thing to do. The best thing is to take it slow and have as much of an advantage as possible.

One of my WO4 accounts took it as slowly as possible during the x3 EXP, was able to luck out in containers (some 10k and a few 25k, the rest were mostly commons). I decided to buy Coinboxes during the 50% sale and I got lucky there being able to go many rounds of Coinboxes thanks to the Weekly Containers I saved up and ended up with 182k to spend instead 100k. And instead of purchasing another combo or a lot of protection modules, I used most of the crystals to pruchase Adrenaline for my choice of turret, specific protection modules, and I have 2k of each supply excluding RK (which has around 1,000).

If I had brute-forced my way through the ranks, I highly doubt I'd be in a good position against players at a higher rank than me. I didn't play during the x6 and x8 EXP. And I'm not playing on it now because TO mobile is too uncomfortable to use.

No.

I recommend playing only for missions (and mostly only if any of the 3 overlap), and upgrade on sales only.  Having only 1 combo can be quite detrimental - both strategy-wise and interest-wise.  I suppose a player could start 2 new accounts with 1 combo and split up the time they normally play in half for each account - that would reduce boredom some.

Don't see how rushing to Legend is in any way advantageous.  Especially for a new player who needs to learn the ropes.

Does TO not want any new players to join (and stay)?  This current system does new players no favors.

If you gotta use one combo only, then I'd suggest one that gives you maximum flexibility against all ranges like thunder, Gauss, smoky, the new magnum, shaft, and railgun for turrets and viking, hornet, and maybe hopper and Ares (I guess) for hulls.

But like @TheCongoSpider and @wolverine848  said,  ranking up to legend rank quickly will prove more detrimental to the player than you think it will. If you have to play MM, do it to complete your daily missions, that way you can build up your resources. If you want to play more and still earn crystals, then I would suggest pro battles.

Taking EXP out of consideration, the ideal combo for the beginner ranks is Shaft - Dictator. It holds up well even all the way to Legend.

Yeah because dictator gives you free supplies. That by itself is enough to convince you to buy it in the beginner and low ranks. Forgot about that.

Pair it up with any of the mentioned turrets listed above, and you should be fine.
