Let's Discuss Fitness!

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!
Gamers will wonder why there's a topic related to fitness when they are "gamers". Even gamers need to do some or any activity daily to be able to stay healthy. Professionally, I was a fitness trainer and this forum topic is created to discuss about fitness. It can be anything you do for fitness and keep your good looking self well-maintained! You can share anything that complies the section rules and anything related to fitness here.

Note: Fitness doesn't imply to weight lifting or cardio only - It's the most misunderstood concept for years.

How many are fitness freaks here and how many just love the results of your hardwork dedicated to your body?

You don't need 6-pack abs or 24 inch arms to prove it, even a daily dedication to improve your physical and mental health contributes to fitness and everything.

Feel free to brag about your gains, give/ask for tips and appreciate yourself and the others for taking a decision to worship their bodies like they should!

I don’t go to gym or anything else like that but I do sports. I used to do basket ball but stopped after sometime (with the ball hitting my stomach three or four times). I do javelin throw though I wouldn’t say I’m very good at it. Was improving with it but now all that’s gone to pot cuz of the current situation. What I’m best at is swimming. That alone provides a lotta benefits like improving fitness, reducing stress and building good muscle strength (same with almost other sports as well ofc).

Somebody weight exercises for those doing at home with no equipment

That's a wonderful list of excises, however, bodyweight workouts never get old!

You can't give an excuse saying "I don't have the equipments!" or "I don't have a gym membership". All they need is the wish and effort to do it.

@E_polypterus Interesting, great to know you have a good experience in those sports field!

Swimming is my personal favourite. I am not a swimmer, I am more of an intermediate in that. Sports, Gyms and home workouts have it's own pros and cons.

Spoiler

I am a really slow swimmer lol

I can totally relate with how lockdown has made almost everyone so lazy to even get up from bed. And let's hope the pandemic is over soon! I am bugged with how laziness is affect me physically and mentally.

dang, you would get motivation from exercising if you had seen noticable changes, and when you see it, you will be addicted to it and will work a lot harder. That's what happened to be and all my clients tho. Anyways, football is fun and amazing spots. I am a goal keeper in soccer lol, what about you?

I rarely exercise, but I love playing outdoors!

I play Football, Cricket, Basketball, Table-Tennis, Badminton to name a few ? Don't worry, I'm not a pro, but it's more like I'm "Jack of all trades, but master of none"...

I swim too, not too fast, but I focus more on the technique. It's best when the water is heated in the afternoon-sun tho...

I do Yoga occasionally. The best form (according to me) is called the "Suryanamaskar" (literally, "bowing to the Sun with respect", as Surya = Sun and Namaskar = bowing in respect, in Sanskrit), and it involves a lot of asanas (Yogic postures). However, if it's done properly, you must maintain a single asana for a certain period of time, and breathe in a certain way throughout the exercise, which makes it difficult and boring for a millennial like me...  :c

Great topic, @asdasemm! It seems you do have a life... ; )

315lbs was not my bodyweight ?, my own bodyweight is 170lbs, 5' 8" height. I am talking about the bench press bar weighing 315 pounds, I was able to press it for 1 when I was stronger, now I can only lift 225lbs for 1.

I am more of an exercise freak. Once I start, there is no end to it until my mom comes and chastises me. Lucky that I have my mom, otherwise I would be doing workout for hours at a stretch. Does anybody here know a few good cardio exercises? cause I do not know any.

I just do sports, which gives lots of exercises with  the warmups and all too. I don't do much separate exercises. Anyway, I do know that for cardio skipping, burpees and sqauts are good enouhg.

Whoa, yeah I can relate to the "Jack of all trade, but a master of none" as I was a teenager. Outdoor sports is fun indeed that we try all the sports and end up liking most of them. I guess that's how we are familiar with most sports like you said.

well, does doing push ups stop growth of height?

Oh man, I wish I had a dollar for everytime someone asks me that. @krish123_super , Never believe such myths which have been always shown to fail. Working out or anything that includes physical work doesn't affect the rate of your growth in any manner. There is no connection. As an Indian, when I started working out, it was a constant comment I got - Working out or lifting weights will affect your height. It's just a myth which is not true.

@ReptilianTroll 315lbs x 1 Bench press? Interesting!

If it makes you feel better (about losing your gains), I used to bench upto 450lbs x1 bench press (220kg). Now I struggle with push ups after Covid and other viral fevers I got during quarantine. It;'s time to get up and push harder again!

@Ironmantonystark Regarding cardio, it totally depends on what kind of cardio you are interested in. I would recommend HIIT over steady state cardio because of the amount of calories you would burn in lesser amount of time and the calories will also be burnt in a long run (even after your workout). There are several online videos to help you get you started with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Do it with fast music and you will love it!

Thank you. It takes me 5 months to go from a 225 max to 315 on the bench press, so it is no problem for me. I have gone through this 3 times already. ?
