Leave Behind A Message

Sup tankers!!

I recently posted a "joke" in 'Joke of The Day - Have Any', and I realised that my joke would not make sense to most players that begin playing Tanki a few years later or return to Tanki after a long hiatus. So in a spoiler, I just typed "yep, there was a time when..."

This somehow made me a bit conscious about the impressions that other forumers form about me. I felt like "leaving behind a legacy" on the Forum, or something of the kind. Tanki is changing at a furious pace, and old players are finding it difficult to comprehend the new updates. Newer players don't understand former Tanki mechanics. Essentially, Tanki is moving ahead very fast, and only those in the present fully understand what's going on.

What message would you like to leave behind on the Forum, for the newer generation of Tankers?

It needn't be Tanki-related. This is the Off-Topic discussion section, after all...

Spoiler

For example;

"Tanki had an update once that gave double HP to light hulls"
"There was a time when we used to play Tanki on Flash"

"Do not rage over the apparently wrong decisions of the developers... they are trying their best to make everyone happy"

"There was an outrageous update when flying hulls were added !!!"

"There was a time when we had a virus pandemic, and we had to....."

"There was once a 2020... brr"

etc.

Here's my message:

There was once a time when people used to chat on forums. Then came Discord... and revolutionized instant communication... people were able to chat very fast, from all parts of the world, and even be in a voice call!

In late 2019, a certain group of players came together and founded the group [MS] Mobile Snipers. Sharing the same interest in sniping, these players were true Shaft fanatics, crossing the borders of camping, breaking the taboos of any ordinary sniper and being disgusted by the concept of Rapid-Fire Mode.
Mobile snipers were not afraid to expose themselves in the open; rather than being a friend of them, the shadows were a mobile sniper's enemy. Their signature combination, consisting of Shaft and Hornet, would allow the snipers to drive across the map, unaware enemies not paying attention to them, only to wait for the perfect moment to strike...
Brutal slaughters took place when the mobile snipers joined the battlefield, their enemies attempting to hide themselves behind every cover in sight knowing that their execution was merely postponed and unavoidable. Making use of the notorious augment Light-Capacitors allowed the snipers to put their efficiency and effectiveness to heights no tanker had ever thought of. Being it any battle-format, the mobile snipers would spread death and chaos wherever their path led - they were risky, they were true predators.
However, rather than it being purely a blood-hunt, a mobile sniper's purpose was to fulfil an aggressive yet supportive function to their team, effectively breaking down defences, tactically distracting the enemy, eliminating huge threats and menacing enemies; the mobile snipers were insisted on killing those who wanted to taste victory.
Dangerous as they are, only a small fraction of the player base knows who they are and that they exist. Perhaps for the good, the mysterious haze hanging around us mobile snipers prevents the enemy to be prepared for their demise.

Rumour has it that when you are playing on the field, a mobile sniper is constantly luring at you, hiding its scope for the perfect moment to take your life away...

Wow, I didn't know that...

What a gripping description!

There was a time, when the only turret that could burn enemies was Firebird.

The only turret that could freeze enemies was Freeze.

The only turret that could inflict critical hits was Smoky.

The only turret that could bounce projectiles was Ricochet.

Now the turrets are just re-skins and alterations of each other XD.

I miss the old Tanki so much. Those were truly simpler times... I joined Tanki in 2013....it's crazy, so crazy to think that 8 years have gone by! There's so much to say that I don't know where to begin. I miss attending those clan trainings....I was a kid back then and the term "clan training" sounded so important. Those days of spamming in forum games.... The battles I fought valiantly in Serpuhov.... with my trusty shaft I would snipe my way to victory. An arsenal of weapons and hulls much smaller than what we have today. Camping for crystal boxes and earning even more than the winners of the battle. Those rank up parties. Sometimes not playing at all and just messing around with buddies in a private match. The Parkour. When Generalissimo was the ultimate rank you could achieve. When gold box drop zones weren't marked. THE LAGGGGGGG. When eSports was at its peak and NooBesT dominated the scene. Remember when Semyon Kirov hosted Tanki VLOGs? Oh boy, I used to wait the entire week for that!

When this forum was the liveliest place in the world. The list goes on and on and on.

A time without matchmaking....without drones....overdrives... Tanki Online in its rawest form. A place that felt like home. The battles I fought, the friends I made... I will never forget them. I miss my old Tanki friends dearly..... TNT, Darren, drazer....personia... and so much more... I wonder what's up with them. It's been years since I last talked to them. I wonder if they even remember me. Btw, if any of my old friends is reading this... I'm Supratikbora. I had my nickname changed in 2017.

And just how could I forget The Toilet Paper Army Oh, the banter we had....

I miss the old Tanki dearly. I can't like the current version of Tanki no matter how hard I try. It just doesn't feel right. The mechanics....the new stuff...I truly don't recognize this game anymore. (I guess I'm sounding like a boomer)

I have played many games but Tanki Online defined my childhood. Years will pass by but Tanki Online, and the memories I made, will always have a special place in my heart. <3

Very well said.

I share your sentiments for the old TO.

There was a time when Battle Pass costed 500 tankoins and completing daily and weekly missions would complete the Challenge. Those days were golden days for non-buyers.

There was also a time when there wasn’t a battle pass, or dumb over-the-top augments and status effects, overdrives and overpowered drones. Those were truly the golden days for not just non-buyers, but the vast majority of players.

Interestingly, that time in my opinion was 2017 - October 2018 :D

  • All the augments were balanced Alterations, or they tried their best with most of them at least. Cue the Compact Fuel Tank Flashbacks
  • The only Status Effects were the supplies and Burning and Freezing, all of which have been in the game for nearly a decade at the time and barely anyone complained about their existence. Well, we did complain a bit about supplies being buyer-only, but the developers fixed that by adding missions and containers. Thank goodness. We all have supplies now :D
  • Everyone had the same overdrive. Yes, it's a bit annoying cause a team can wipe out another team if they utilized their overdrives to their maximum potential, but at least we don't have certain hulls being weaker/stronger than others like today. Like Hornet's OD vs Hopper OD
  • And Drones didn't come till October.

I believe the game reached its peak in late 2015.

But to each their own, I guess.
