Idea to improve Juggernaut's Overdrive

Recommended Posts

i don't know if this was discussed OR suggested already.

idea: small improvement for the Juggernaut's overdrive

Why am i suggesting it: the occasions where the Juggernaut gets flipped by either bad driving or due to the enemy team, are quite common, and there's pretty much nothing that can be done, the Juggernaut is way too heavy to be pushed around, unless it's on a bridge or somewhere high enough to be pushed, however, such lucky occasions are kinda rare, and pretty much everytime a Juggernaut is flipped it's a guaranteed score for the enemy team.

Now i'd like if the Juggernaut had at least a chance to prevent this, i've often seen Isidas try to keep the Juggernaut alive, despite being flipped.

Suggestion: when the Juggernaut uses its overdrive, if it's flipped over, it respawns on place, but on its tracks, just a tiny little improvement for it, no spawn protection or anything else is applied.

Possible extra effect: Juggernaut's OD also disables any self-destruction process, if enabled.

However, it's a great tactics to flip the enemy JGR, and ut's great to do it.

i know, this doesn't mean that the Juggernaut will get back on tracks every single time, only if it has the OD ready.

You can disable the auto-self destruction by going to the settings.

This is honestly too overpowered. If the Juggernaut flips because of bad driving, it's the jugger player's fault for dooming their team.

If the Juggernaut flips cause the enemy team flipped them, than the enemy team's work shouldn't be undone. Deliberately flipping someone in Tanki has been a non-violating strategy since the game was released.

Sadly, I want to agree with this. There are games where some player just never dies with the Juggernaut do to some unfair maps. Flipping over and bad driving is the only solution for this.

Agreed.

Also, on a personal note, I love it so much when an enemy Juggernaut that has been harrassing my team's Juggernaut for half the match, ends up losing his footing and flipping.

Can't agree with you, it's not overpowered, if the allied Juggernaut is flipped, the enemy one will certainly attack, so even if the allied Juggernaut gets back on tracks, it's not sure it will survive.

I never said that flipping the enemy violates something, i don't find fair that the team can't do anything about a Juggernaut being flipped, all you can do is literally just stay there and watch it die. The timer goes down and your team gives a free score to the enemy team.

The other team flipped it? Good, if the flipped Juggernaut has the overdrive ready, it can get back on tracks, if it doesn't, it will get destroyed

It is 100% fair if a Juggernaut player flips over because of their own bad driving. Not sure what you mean. There are 7 available deaths for a Juggernaut for a reason.

I swear, like every 1 in 5 ideas we get is about Juggernaut. Why do people wanna improve it so much? ?

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but it's just so... disproportionate.

Probably because It's the game mode that relies on your teammates the most. It can be really frustrating when you get 2 or more incompetent Jugg drivers in a row that automatically doom your game, so us players come up with ideas to make the mode more bearable.

OR... when your team refuses to help defend you and lets 5 attackers waltz in to ambush you.

I've been spawn-killed as the JUG.   It's very frustrating...

Yeah, that happens as well

How about this:

When the Juggernaut is upside down or on its side, the Overdrive also affects the Juggernaut itself. So, it gets pushed back from the ground, and may end up on its tracks.

There will be a chance that it flips upside down again, but the OD at least gives it an opportunity to get back the right way up...

Imagine using your OD incombat to get your HP back, only to be flipped over

This is a nice idea, I understand where you are coming from but I do not think this should be introduced - learning not to flip or be flipped is part of being a good Juggernaut. When I first starting playing Jug mode I lost my footing a lot when under pressure from enemies, now I rarely do, the occasions when I do are entirely my own fault. If someone tips over a lot on Juggernaut - they just need to learn how to navigate the map better, which will come with practice. I think this game needs to be made harder and not easier, I don't think we need things like this which are too forgiving when players make easily avoidable mistakes.

Also while flipping the enemy Juggernaut is now a valid strategy, it would be less powerful with this change. Going in for aggressive flips when your Juggernaut's overdrive is ready is one of the most fun things about this mode, so I don't think overall this change would be good.
