Looking for an express Christmas delivery of crystals? Well, you got it - we've got a new contest coming right at you!

In the past, we have had so many classic contests: Caption This, Describe This in 100 Words, What Map. Let's bring a fresh new contest into the scene: Gear Score Hunt!

7eI6rCP.png Tasks:

It's simple: just find the GS pattern here.

  • In a MM battle, find a tanker with the following numbers in their GS: 14. (It can be anywhere in the GS - 1402, 2140, and 2014 all count, but the numbers 1 and 4 must be next to each other)
  • Once you've found a correct combination, take a screenshot either on Tab Screen or in the Killboard at the end of the battle. Make sure your nickname and the winning GS number are both easily visible.
  • To facilitate the judging process, circle or box the number that fits the requirements.
  • Upload your screenshot to an image-hosting site (e.g. Imgur) and send the link into the Google Form here.

Here is a sample screenshot:

r1m55pq.png?1 Rules:

1.You must be in good standing with the Rules of the Game.

2.You should only enter this contest with one account.

3. Collaboration between players is not permitted.

4. Some more entry-specific rules:

  • You cannot use yourself as the entry. (e.g. if your GS is 1014, then you cannot enter that as your response)

Infraction of any of these rules results in instant disqualification and in some severe cases, a ban from participating in Newspaper Contests in the near future.

CZKftSr.png Prizes:

The top 3 fastest entries (with a valid entry) will receive the following prizes:

First place:  50 000 crystals

Second place:  40 000 crystals

Third place:  25 000 crystals

If you weren't fast enough to place in the Top 3 but still got a correct answer, don't worry; 5 more random winners with correct entries will receive a compensation prize of 15 000 crystals.

This is a quick contest; it'll end early 18 December and results will be delivered later in the day. Hope you enjoy!

Best of luck to all participants!

Note: Nonparticipating entry

Yeap, it seems doable, good luck everyone

Also it wasn't possible to put both my name and the name of the person in one shot, so if you will be in same situation, make sure to make multiple shots as you are scrolling down the table to prove you participated in the battle yourself.

Hmm, interesting.
So it's about finding the correct GS value with the hint being 14 somewhere in the number? That's a lot of possibilities.

The math: 14 can fit in 3 regions of the GS value: 14xx, x14x, xx14 and there are 10*10 = 100 possible values for the "xx" values.

That means there are pretty much 300 (excluding "impossible" GS values like only 14) possible answers, i.e. a 0.3% chance to get the correct answer? ?

On the other side, the text says "Once you have found a correct combination", so there are multiple valid answers, which would increase the chances

EDIT: Nvm, the correct combination was about finding the "14" combo itself

@fghjkl54 @T879

The GS must contain the numbers 1 and 4 consecutively, in that order.

For example, 1400, 1144, 1214, 9014, 7147, 9914 etc. are all valid, as they contain the numbers 1 and 4 consecutively, and 1 comes before 4.

The beauty of this contest is that even if you aren't fast enough to get into the top-three, you can still get the 15k consolation prize, which is luck-based... (and not time-based)

where is number 14 in GS?

This pic was just to show how to highlight lol, and also to show that you can crop the picture.

But I agree that it's confusing.

@Person_Random please change the sample screenshot. It's quite confusing. First of all, you've highlighted a GS that does not have 14, and second, you've highlighted your own GS (again that's against the rules :kekw:)...

Ah, I thought it was about finding the "correct" GS value / combination. If any number with "14" works, then it's worth doing this for a consolation prize ?

Additionally, Gear Scores like 514 also work, but these GS values are nearly impossible for high ranks. And if you enter this contest using a Recruit ranked account (at Recruit it's possible to have 3 digit GS. So players in your battle might have the lucky number 14 in their GS), there's no point really ?...

Guyz is it fair for first three entries only? The tankers in whose countries it would be night, they would be very late. In this way it's kind of partiality. Plz make it country wise as well.

Well, all time-based contests tend to be unfair for certain time-zones, and nothing can be done about it. However, these contests can be made a bit fairer by adding prizes which are not based on speed of submission. This contest has a consolation prize of 15,000 crystals, which will be given randomly

There are many other cool Newspaper contests which aren't based on speed. They are the various writing contests like Describe This in 100 Words, Caption This, Comic Captions, etc., and they don't require you to submit your entry faster than the others. You can try them out whenever they're conducted. Usually every month there is at least one writing contest (which is not time-based). Keep your eyes peeled for future contests!
