I care about it to an extent. I think having high-upgraded gear is important to be efficient in combat and I also like to show off my upgraded equipment in battle. My highest GS rises to around 9700 and I am proud of that, to keep this GS constant I aim to micro-upgrade other items I regularly use. Reaching 9999 does have to wait however, since upgrading modules to 50% is an incredibly expensive trade-off - the same goes for drones, but luckily I already own a maxed Booster so I do not have to go through that hell again

Depends.  I don't care about my GS since I know it falls within std deviation of my rank.

But I do care when I see players on my team with a GS much lower than average and they perform accordingly.  My team is basically a tank short at that point.

Skill and equipment can offset a difference in GS to some extent, plus I always strive to use as highly upgraded equipment as I can for my rank. So I don't really care what my own GS is except as a status indicator. On the other hand, I use GS to evaluate how tough a battle will be, and how likely it is that my team will win. If the there are more than one tank on the opposite team with GS much higher than mine, then I will struggle. If in addition to that, there is no one on my team with higher GS than me, then we will most likely lose. It's just a rough indication not a surefire prediction, but I find it still useful to assess the difficulty level of a battle.

Sure , GS above 9k does not matter , but if you really got low nrs , playing against much higher or opposite , does make a difference . Does not mean you cannot play against them , like a full shaft , can go without module and even low hull and still got good score , but normally that is how strong your tank is .

I used to care about my GS. When I was first going against Legends, my GS was much lower than everyone else and so I would always keep an eye on it when doing MUs so that I would know when I would be evenly matched with everyone else. Now that I've gotten higher up (87XX-92XX w/o a drone, 93XX-97XX w/ a drone) it really doesn't matter to me anymore.

Now, enemy GS on the other hand is very important to me. It helps me know who is an easy target, especially now that this crazy post-16v16 matchmaker is putting people with 5K-6K GS in with Legends ?

While I like flexing that I have a turret, hull, three protection modules, and a drone fully MUed, I think it's funny to see a person with a drastically lower GS (2K+ less) beating 9999 GS players in score

I got examples near everyday where i play with 99xx play against 3000 or less GS , it does make a difference there for sure . I even had games with people there warrant rank with <1000 GS vs 99xx from my side . Can they kill me , sure , every smallest bullet can kill other tank but 1vs1 in full health , they would have a hard time for sure .

I don't really care about GS - I just use it as a guide to see how upgraded other's equipment are in battle. Usually when I see more than 2 players with 9999 GS on the other team, or those with just over 9k GS and with EMP Gauss, IB HI or AP augment players I just consider leaving, because I know how the battle will turn. Especially if my teammates are all below 7.5k GS

I also use it as a guide to see how low someone would be without any Hornet using their OD on an enemy. Usually when the opponent has, say 2k GS, I know they're gonna be easy to take down, while a 7k GS will be a bit harder to take down. How I do this is I find players in battle and find how high of a GS they have while I'm dead or when I just join the battle. That way, I could see how easy it would be to kill them/how much hp they should have left when I deal x amount of damage to them.

However, my GS doesn't really matter, as long as it's 5.9k GS or higher. Because that's the average GS these days for my rank. However, I too, want to improve my GS through micro-upgrades.

I do care about my GS but the poll questions do not represent my opinion in any way.

It's not my "status marker" - I don't really care about being intimidating and having a "high status" just coz of GS.

It's definitely not just a number.

And GS doesn't show how tough one is - skill and experience do. You can have 7k GS and not turn your turret and a 2k GS players easily skirts around you avoiding your shots and slowly, but steadily, reduces your health.

The GS represents how strong my equipment is and nothing else.

It's just a way to make a quick assumption about the strength or weakness of a player or team.  I use it as a factor to decide what to equip for modules and hull augments.  I do generally feel that it is a solid indicator of the difficulty a player will present.

Maybe a skilled 7k GS could kill a noob 9999K GS. But 2k killing 7k... Hmm, don't you Venerable feel that is too much?

Especially while you in a public map, and many players will interrupt and either killing you or stealing your kill.

nothing else? as equipment is a marginalized thing in the game!! FYI, equipment is the second most important thing in the game after your skills.

As i have proved g/s depending on your combo means nothing.

A hopper with crisis can be over 5000 g/s below you and still make you look like a recruit.

G/S does not truly reflect a players ability are the fact that player uses the flying hack, which is unstoppable for the most part when equipped with crisis.

Even without crisis it is still OP.

I didn't really refer to public battles or specify that there are other players around you. Imagine a 1v1 situation (which is possible even in crowded maps), where a 7k GS player is not turning their turret, and a skilled 2k GS player simply moves around them, avoiding their shots. It'll take time, obviously, but the ultimate winner here is the 2k GS player.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

BTW, I've seen 2k GS players beating 7k GS players in XP/BP. Though I admit the situation wasn't always 1v1... But yeah, there was one time when the 2k GS player managed to dodge all shots and killed the 7k GS player in 3 shots.

I still stand by my statement. I don't quite understand what you mean. I never said skills aren't important or anything similar. And why do you say "equipment is a marginalized thing"?

GS doesn't show anything about your skills, nearly all the time.

Speaking of which, I came along this screenshot of a battle I had during the 16vs16 experiment some weeks ago. First place of the enemies team was taken by an Autocannon-user with a GS of 3938 - overall, he wasn't even doing that bad, but at the same time I wonder how he got such score because he did not appear to have astounding skills.

I actually had to laugh when I saw this end-result of that battle. I never try to look down on people, but surely these people should have been ashamed that someone with half of their GS managed to conquer 1st in a Legends battle.

I mean the most important thing in the game is #1 Skills #2 Equipment.. But you in your first post, marginalized the equipment something, so I just tell you it's the second most important thing in the game.

This is the exception and not the rule - especially as you have put forth a format battle.

In 99% of the cases where it's 7k vs 2k, the 7k will stomp the 2k.  It's not just hulls and turrets.  Drones and hull augments contribute to the score and can make a HUGE difference.

MM placed me in an Assault battle with Brigadiers and majors.  I was on defending side, and went 19-0, shutting down one of 3 flags for entire battle.  It was pretty silly - 2 and even 3 of them attacking me at same time and it was not even close.

LOL I agree, but my point is this: GS is only indicative of strength of equipment, and not always skill. Especially in the current MM, where low-rankers can get OP combos.

Well yeah.  I'd go as far to say GS has nothing to do with skill.

You can have GS = 9999 and very little skill.  All it takes to get 9999 is $ and time.
