Most Annoying Combos in Tanki Today

Hello all,

I've gotten some of the most annoying equipment recently and kind of feel like writing an article about each combo's relative annoyingness. What are some annoying combos you've met in battle? Let me know so I can test 'em out!

Hopper/Gauss Electromagnetic Salvo Crisis i believe this might be the most annoying combo especially in MM.

•Magnum - any hull + Mortar alt.

Veeery annoying, each time it lands a shot, a mine is planted too. Just 3 or 4 of these guys in a medium map is enough to turn your base (or theirs) into a minefield. 

•Firebird - Wasp + CFT.

Even without CFT firebird is OP ever since it had its afterburn damage and time increased, just fire for a few seconds, run away enemy is good as dead.

Hunter, freeze (with shock freeze) and sabotage drone who just defend. You finally get through the mines and then get stunned by their overdrive. After a number of failed attempts you finally get the flag only to be frozen. So frustrating to play against

Hopper with Stun Immunity and Gauss with EMP, or Railgun AP. For drone probably lifesaver.

I'd also say shock freeze, but I always use freeze immunity, so ?‍♂️

Wow... so many annoying combos

  • Hopper & Gauss (Electromagnetic Salvo alt)
  • Wasp & Freeze (Shock Freeze alt)
  • Mammoth & Vulcan (Incendiary band alt)


And much more :angry:

Hopper with Crisis appears to be overpowered, with the boosted speed these players can literally fly across the entire map. 
Defender-users are also an incredible pain to deal with: 30 seconds boosted armor is unnecessarily overpowered; especially when you take into account that Defender-users can cycle through their supplies - decreasing the smart cooldown on double armor - enabling them to keep this effect indefinitely. 
Vulcan w/ Incendiary Band + Heat Immunity is literally an exploit and shouldn't be able to exist in the very first place. 
Electromagnetic Salvo for Gauss is also incredibly unbalanced. Everyone knows what it does. 

One can say that players can counter these by buying Heat/Stun/EMP-immunity, but for regular players this is near impossible since you will need to save coins for years or be incredibly lucky with container openings. 

 

I can be considered a hypocrite because I actively use EM-salvo, Hopper and am able to abuse Vulcan w/ Incendiary Band since I also own Heat-Immunity - nonetheless, I do agree that these items should definitely be nerfed and/or patched

 

EDIT: I would commit a crime to nerf Autocannon to the ground

Magnum with Harpoon/Any hull, but especially Viking

Vulcan with Incendiary Band/Any hull with Heat Immunity

Twins/Viking or Titan or Hunter

Gauss/Hopper

Any turret/Hopper/Crisis

Any turret/Heavy hull/Defender

Smoky with Autocannon/Any hull

Here are the most annoying combos in the game I've seen in the recent months:

  • Vulcan with the Heat Immunity Augment
  • Vulcan with Heat Immunity Augment and Incendiary Band Alteration
  • Gauss with any hull
  • Gauss with the Electromagnetic Salvo Alteration  - Honestly, the developers did a good job nerfing Hammer's Duplet and Striker's Uranium, alts that dominated 2019 (as well as Firebird's Compact Tanks which dominated 2018). Why can't they do the same for this Gauss alt?
  • Mouse-Control Hoppers with one of the following turrets equipped: Smoky, Thunder, Magnum, and Gauss
  • Hopper with the Crisis Drone
  • Titan in Siege Mode - Its not as "annoying" in most game modes and its not a "combo", but in Siege mode, they are extremely annoying to deal with and the team that wins is usually the team with more Titans.
  • Magnum with the Armor Piercing Core Augment
  • Anyone with the Defender Drone

 

Special shout-out to Gauss, which out-performs and outclasses the following turrets:

  • Shaft
  • Striker
  • Thunder

Gauss with Electromagnetic Salvo - Whenever somebody from the enemy team has this augment equipped, I use it as well to annoy him back :biggrin:

I think there are few annoying combos, and most have already been mentioned above, but the main thing that makes any combo OP and annoying is Supplies, preferably paired with an optimum drone (Crisis, Hyperion, Trooper, and others favoring usage of supplies).

I've seen invincible Titan + Magnums, Smoky Autocannon + Titan, Vulcan (any augment, especially IB) + Any hull with Heat Immunity, and even Firebird-Vikings having 20+ kills and single digit deaths.

In all cases I've seen seemingly never-ending supplies.

I remember once that an Isida-Mammoth managed to reach our base, activated OD, and luckily our Juggernaut escaped. 

Hoppers aren't that annoying tbh. I don't see many Hoppers around, as compared to the time just after its release. I personally use it only on mobile. I mean, I've managed to catch so many golds recently without another Hopper competing! XD

The most annoying combo for me is Magnum-Hunter right now, Magnum AP or Mortar and Hunter with any Immunity... I especially hate those players which manage to land their shells right on top of me with robotic precision... :c

I must have over 1500 hours with Smoky now (four accounts) and I hate Autocannon; it's an inelegant augment... for a less civilized age

It's also making more people use Smoky modules...

And he splash damage makes it a little challenging to use at small range too. Nothing like that for AC smokey - its game play is literally just pointing at the enemy and the autofire (in mobile) keeps hittig the target. That's why I believe that AC smokey is more annoying than twins or even vulcan.

I am really curious how Smoky's upcoming rework will affect its augments, I'm certain it will have a lot of impact on the usage and popularity of the turret and augments

Nothing could be more annoying than a smoky-titan centering in the middle of the game mocking everyone with ridiculous impact force.

Btw, I noticed that, and as I see it's ruined. so I wasted my crystals, bought Mk7 Smoky and bought Assault Rounds

Rushing everyone in my road, missing Railgun shoots. terminate Shafts aiming. Flipping any wasp or hornet while I'm defending. And even some mults could exploit it in immortal things.
