Freezing effect's acceleration debuff

 Share

Question

Is there some info about it?

Like my tank is fully unfreezed, but still reach the top speed way more slower than under normal conditions.

From my perspective it looks like Freezing still works but without any indication.

Basically, a freeze user did shoot you, which did freeze you, which gave you it's effects, and after this effect disappear, your speed will progressively increase until you get the normal tank speed, but it is normal you're slower than the usual speed even after the effect disappears. Unlike fire, Freeze gives you effect which makes your tank slower, if right after the freeze status effect was removed from your tank you could get your usual speed,  then it would actually be strange regarding it's physics since freeze effect is making you being slower.

I hope it was clear ?. If you have anything else to ask me regarding this subject, feel free to !

Have a great day

Having some actual numbers would be nice.

I perfectly understand, I will let you know when it will be on the wiki, if this is added

The minimum temperature of a tank can be achieved is -1.0, regardless of the tank modification level.

Maximum effect is 4 seconds which is when temperature of your tank reached -1. From there your tank warms up at a speed of + 0.25 / sec, and reach 0 (neutral temperature) in 4 seconds.

The speed of the turret rotation and speed of the tank at -1 is at the level of 10% of the original, and it follows a linear rate in proportion to the temperature up to 100% when reaching neutral temperature. The temperature is calculated every tick (one tick is 0.25s).

Attack Effect and duration

Freeze
The freezing speed is -0.6 / sec (-0.15 per 0.25s) regardless of the tank modification level.
Taking into account the independent thawing of a tank at a speed of + 0.25 / sec, a temperature value of -1.0 is reached after 2.5 seconds.
Alteration smoky cryo rounds.png Smoky any modification with the augment "Cyro Rounds" can instantly lower the temperature of the target to -1. After that, the target is defrosted for 4 seconds, gradually restoring the speed of the gun and the body from 10% to 100%.

Crusader

The overdrive of Knight freezes an opponent in that he survived the downed icicles. Freeze effect is -2 (-200%). An opponent who was previously fully heated (+1) would be fully frozen (-1).

Dictator icon small.png

Dictator

The overdrive of Dictator spontaneously lowers the temperature of enemies within the range to -1.0. An opponent who was previously at a neutral temperature ("0") will be completely frozen. A previously fully heated opponent (+1), on the other hand, has a neutral temperature afterwards.

Augment Cryo Rounds Railgun.png A variant of the large caliber Railgun* but with cryo rounds. Critical hits can instantly lower the temperature of the target to -1 (-100%).

@kydapoot if  temperature was -1 (tank fully white and fully immobile (10% mobility left)), after 4 long seconds temperature should have rose up to 0, the white color should be gone and of course  the tank and turret  should be back to normal speed (100% mobility). If not then something went wrong, either lag, or any of the random evergoing tanki bugs... unless he did not see an ennemie still freezing him.

After completely thawing the tank should behave normally, there is no hidden coding that should prevent this mechanics to work otherwise. If this is lag related, refresh browser and check game ping. If this not the case, well someone found another bug (lucky tanker), record and report in the Bugs and Glitches Reports forum topic, and don't expect any reward (unlucky tanker).

time % mobility temperature
0 10 -1
0.25 15.6
0.5 21.2
0.75 26.8
1 32.4 -0.75
1.25 38
1.5 43.6
1.75 49.2
2 54.8 -0.5
2.25 60.4
2.5 66
2.75 71.6
3 77.2 -0.25
3.25 82.8
3.5 88.4
3.75 94

I understand how Freezing effect works. This is why aftermath of it gets me confused)

a month later still no answer - maybe we should let it go

Yep, not looking like its likely to get an answer from the devs.

Like with AP Hammer and its -20%?)

What do you mean by this? AP Hammer does indeed have a 20% decrease in clip reload, as stated on the wiki.

But pachnote with Hammer's clip reloas says that it was removed. And there is no pachnote after that about its returns.

Which number is the note? I don't remember seeing it.

We covered that one a long time ago; there have been some unannounced changes since then as well as some announced ones.

What's on the wiki right now is the current information, since Stratosphere was able to look up the stats.

lol -  Patch Update #656 - Released 30th July 2021

  • Changed the «Cold» status effect:

    • Minimum hull speed is increased from 10% to 70%;

    • Minimum turret rotation speed is decreased from 80% to 10%;

    • Time needed for the status effect to disappear is increased from 4 sec to 10 sec.

So somehow changed were made (or partially tested) in the game before they actually told us. Naughty devs

So it was a not a bug and not a new mechanics but a modification of parameters. Thawing is now +0.1 /sec instead of +0.25 /sec.

Just to add; I have always felt an initial slow acceleration post thawing, especially noticeable with mammy crisis, I had to switch modes to get rid of the 'slowness' that I had felt. Personally didn't feel as annoying, but I have always felt a reduction in acceleration after the freeze status effect had ended. Was unsure if this was something to do with the programming or some not well explained stuff, because being honest, sometimes a lot of stuff isn't explained properly.
