Turret augments should have unlock ranks.

Not even close. Augments like Incendiary Mix, Scout, and Large Caliber Rounds have been imbalanced since the beginning of time.
I remember buying Incendiary Mix during the first sale when I was a Major General, and for a long time I was tearing up the competition with it. I had a Firebird that was around M2 8/10 or so, and when the Mk conversion rolled around I quickly got it to Mk6 10/10. It ended up carrying me until I started regularly playing with the really high ranks, when I had trouble because I wasn’t upgrading my (now Mk7) Firebird quickly enough.

While the old unlock ranks were somewhat flawed, I think they somewhat kept the OP augments at bay. Now we see autocannons, rapid fire modes, plasma torches, scouts, uranium, etc just everywhere in the beginner and low ranks.

And you think after an entire year of subsequent updates it would make sense to revert it? Especially with the road the game is heading towards?

I hear the devs are considering it. And some of the augments are out of control. So yes it makes sense to do this.

Now that's a understatement.

Tesla's is fine though because it wrecks the legal hack big time, more of the same I say. Nerf the monkey into the ground and buff tesla and all will be good on the battlefield.

Why not just adjust the parameters of problematic augments?

They already tried that loads of times. Didn't make less players use those augments.

I know, and I do agree that Alterations weren't balanced and I dislike them all honestly. But I mean, they weren't obviously buffs to the turret like Adrenaline Augment or most of the current AP Augments.

Adjusting parameters can make players stop using certain equipment nearly overnight (see Incendiary Band). How long will it take for the popularity of certain augments to decrease if they are given unlock ranks?

But did those Vulcan users start flocking to the shooting speed regulator or even to the other Vulcan augment?

I don't know. Does it matter? The Incendiary Band problem was solved and other Vulcan augments weren't nearly as annoying as it was.

It DOES matter. If Vulcans other augments didn't increase in popularity at the time, then the incendiary vulcans most likely to find another overused or OP augment to abuse.

Look. All I want is:

A. Augments that are too powerful for beginner and low ranks to be unable to play with them, releasing the stress off of those ranks.

And

B. Other augments be given a chance in the spotlight.

Do you think that balance changes can't achieve that?

Balance changes has failed at doing that countless times. I'd rather trust more radical solutions.

Now if the balance changes were something like removing auto cannons firing rate boost, then that would be good.
