Not really. They create announcements for those which they believe it is necessary for. So this was a one timer I guess.

"The CM has decided that it's not needed" - no discussion topics for things as fundamental as balance updates? This right here is an example of why Tanki has got their approach wrong - balance should always be something which is worked on with close engagement with experienced players in the community, as it is in most other games.

It is good that they had a discussion thread for this most recent update, I had hoped that this would be a sign of things to come - but apparently not then. Even small updates can have a big effect on the game, and player feedback must be considered for such an important thing as balance changes.

With that said, even if there was a discussion topic for every update - whether player feedback would actually taken on board and acted upon, to any extent, would be another matter. If it wasn't, then such topics would certainly be useless.

I do agree that there should be discussion topic for every update but the CM must have his reasons.

If both you and @TheCongoSpider agree on something Tanki related, then that probably means that it's right. Lol. I think the CM should reconsider - the reasons simply can't be good enough.

Not only should there be a discussion topic for every balance update - in an ideal world the developers should propose prospective balance changes to the community before they are implemented, and gather feedback on which to implement or not, or possible alterations that could be made. Or even have them on the test server, with a feedback forum - this kind of thing is done in other games (although perhaps for a small game like Tanki, the Test server part might be going a bit far). But at the very least, there should be a discussion topic for patch changes - there is basically nothing that needs community feedback more.
