Purchases you regret

We all have things that we bought but didn't live up to our expectations. Sometimes they end up working out, but sometimes that one item will just sit in the garage, collecting dust and/or rust. So, post your pain!

I'll start with a few that I remember off the top of my head.

• Railgun M2 - Back in summer of 2019, I reached First Lieutenant and decided to buy Railgun M2, which was my second M2 turret. I ended up buying it and played a couple of battles, paired with my other new M2, Dictator. Little did I know that Railgun is a pretty mediocre turret without augments, and I was constantly struggling to get a kill. I was really disappointed and gave up on it for a little while. Things did turn around though. Fast forward a little more time and I heard that Round Destabilization was a good augment for around my rank. I decided to buy it during a sale and used it with Hornet (back when you did full damage for the duration of the Overdrive), and had good results. I stopped using it after a while as I moved on to other turrets like Gauss and Shaft though.
• Rapid-fire Mode - In late 2019/early 2020, I was a relatively new Shaft user and I found it pretty fun. I reached Colonel and unlocked Rapid-fire Mode. I noticed that it was my last remaining Shaft augment so I decided to buy it. (I don't remember if it was during a sale. It probably was lol) I took it for a few battles but I guess my Shaft wasn't quite strong enough to get kills with the three arcades. I didn't usually see the health bars, but I have a feeling that my targets still had a small amount of health left. Disappointed, I shelved it and went back to my usual augments. Fast forward a few months and Shaft got the reload buff. I took out Rapid-fire Mode again because the space between arcades was really short. My equipment was still not quite on par (this time with Mk7s) so I wasn't getting great results. Like last time, I went back to my usual augments. I don't think I've used it since because there are so many better Shaft augments to use.
• Trickster - This is actually a super recent regret (a couple hours ago or so). I had previously had good results with Mammoth/Trickster (Trickster being about halfway MUed) so I decided to go all the way. I got it to Level 20 and took it for a spin with a few combinations, such as Titan/Shaft, Isida/Hunter, Striker/Hunter, Vulcan/Mammoth, and Shaft/Dictator. The speed turned out to be too much and it was hindered my Isida's ability to latch on, and my Striker's ability to lock on to a target (even with Missile Launcher "Hunter"). The results were pretty good with Vulcan/Mammoth but I don't see it as a worthwhile drone except for with Titan or Mammoth.

Pair it with ricochet and hopper. You can jump a whole lot of distance by speed boosts and continually shooting forward. I bought trickster yesterday. Today I upgraded it to level 6. Really good for assault attacking.  Hope this helps! Got the trick from goges btw

I remember back in 2013 or so when I was still playing on my alt (MAFFIOZA, if anyone wondered), I was looking at kits to purchase. The account was a Wasp Smoky main, and at some point I had enough crystals to buy Hornet Isida M2 with Loam, and I went for it. I regretted it deeply, but somehow one thing led to another and the account became a Wasp Isida main. I think the purchase of "M2 paints" kit helped a lot, since it gave me the powerful Prodigi paint (with 50% thunder and railgun protection) at a really low rank.

And people say that <2015 Tanki wasn't pay to win, HA!

I used to enjoy Trickster and they changed it.  I went for Driver after the change.  And yeah, they changed Driver soon again.

None, I bought every turret and hull for completeness. I also bought every world cup paint so I would stop getting them in containers. I had no other use for tankoins so it seemed like a sensible idea.

This is what I regretted the most. I tried to upgrade my drone from 0/20 to 15/20 not realizing/forgot  that it was 1 week before the 50% sales event. So I realized that I did a huge mistake. If I hadn't spent on my drone on no sales, I would have had the possibility to max my Armadillo module. It still hurts me to this day. 

Another purchase I made was getting tesla. I thought it was help me out but it caused more problems for me later on. I actually did liked using it for a bit until I got so scarred with the augment dilatory protocol. Many may of you ask, "why not use the augment yourself ?" My answer is that this augment didn't fit my playing style and I usually am an offensive player. Anyways I stopped using it because it scarred me to the point were I don't wanna use it myself anymore. 

Welp these are the 2 most regrets I had.

Ricochet - I used to have fun with this turret. Had a decent Top spot chance rate too just by using it with hornet in maps like espalande and fort Knox. Had fun bouncing them off the walls in those maps. And then the range nerf followed by the maps mentioned not being in MM, so now its never been used since.

Uranium - I remember how great people were saying it was, but when I bought it and tested it, the disappointment was real. It was SOOOOO slow, a wasp from 15 metres away dodged it and so did a dictator from 50 metres away. I would use stock or any other augment over this any time.

Railgun - it was a fun turret to use and pretty good until the harsh nerf it got, now I switched to shaft.

In 2015/May/21, in my old account. I was gathering my crystals to buy Thunder M3 and Viking (M2 most probably), in the next 50% sales. The sales were close, but in the last moment I just changed my opinion to buy this Firewall kit, because I assumed it will make me rank faster with Firebird M2. Thus my Garage become weak forever

Isida Support Nanobots - healing teammates doesn't reward you enough for it to be worth buying

Firebird High Pressure pump - total waste of crystals.  Don't buy.

Striker Uranium - only got to use it a couple of times before they absolutely nerfed it, but it's gotten a bit better recently.

Titan - used to be one of my favorite hulls, but nerfing the overdrive made it the weakest OD in the game.  Now everything seems to penetrate through the dome.  I feel incredibly fortunate if it actually does the job, and score points because of using it.

I was hoping to win the lottery, but all I got were partial refunds and supplies and crystals.

 

Just FYI, I made the purchase because at the time, a bunch of forumers were posting pics of them winning big tankcoin prizes from coinboxes, so I got my hopes up too high.

 

And I was planning on no longer buying battle passes and no longer playing Tanki full-time ever since the price hike, so might as well.

You know, if you played the game before April 2020, these things were all optional.

You didn't need to buy them to increase GS or to get stronger or anything like that lol. They were all just turret customization to be honest.

You're saying healing teammates get you more points than standard Isida, where you can kill+heal?

You can easily score 500 or more with Nanobots in Siege, with Dictator or Ares. Also combine with Defender or Mechanic drone if you have it - though Brutus will also do.

Nanobots Isida is basically my go-to augment in Siege, unless I fancy being offensive with something like EMP Gauss or Hyperspace Railgun. It can also be viable with Defender drone in other modes, and probably Dictator is a good hull to use with it outside of Siege. Definitely not a purchase to regret, that's for sure - it just takes some getting used to. And yes, you get a huge amount more score for healing with Nanobots than regular Isida - so you can get good scores with it.

I think you're missing my point, which is that standard Isida gets you more points with kills+healing than just healing with Nonobots.

I don't believe it is tho.  I use Isida/Dictator a lot in Siege, and guarding the point in Assault, and always get higher scores with standard settings getting kills and healing....

You would've registered a higher score than that 500 without the alt.

Do remember that the Defender drone exists. Any buff to Isida healing with Support Nanobots will have to take that drone into account. I'm sure you don't want to see two near unkillable Isidas healing each other under enemy fire and gaining the top spots with ease. 

 

When Defender gets nerfed you can consider it. Otherwise, it's prone to be exploited.
