Add a minefield around flags to prevent early captures in CTF

It is very common to join CTF battles where a team has already captured a flag in the first 30 seconds or so, way before the MM has finished assembling the teams.

In small maps this is not a big deal, but in big maps where it is difficult to capture (like Massacre, Berlin, Dessert...) a single flag is a huge handicap.

To prevent these unfair early captures that can ruin an otherwise fine match, I suggest to add a minefield around each flag when battle starts.

  • 18 mines makes a nice hexagonal pattern, and it is an amount that might stop one or two attackers. The idea is not to make early attacks impossible, just a bit harder until most players have joined the battle.
  • Placed mines will be divided in 3 groups, and these groups will expire after 58, 59 and 60 seconds. When the mines expire, the "pfff... pfff... pfff..." sound will indicate that the minefield is gone.
  • Experienced players may wait near flags until minefield is gone, or delay the first attack a bit. Less experienced players hardly reach the enemy flag in the first minute of battle, and if they do, they are smart enough to understand the minefield mechanics.

I don't see a reason why we shouldn't make it impossible to capture flags. That would only make things fair for those who are a bit late in joining the battles. This is not an issue with only CTF battles but also RGB and SGE as well. Hopper scores the goal when the teams haven't been filled completely yet and gets its overdrives ready for the consecutive ones.

So I believe that it would be professional, if the flags do not appear in the first 1 minute at all. The first 1 minute can be titled "Preparation TIme" during which maybe teammates can chat regarding strategies or even just go around the map after which everyone self destructs and the battle begins. This can be extended to both SGE and RGB as well.

Oh damn that's even  better. This is an important issue to be considered though. Every game has warm up time. Why not a 30 sec chill before the battle starts?

Or maybe the flag does not load until both sides are filled. To prevent loitering around the opponent's flag, the zone around the flag area is a self-destruct zone/sphere for the opposing team until both sides are filled. Or the other half of the map is a SD zone until both sides are filled. Once the match is started, the SD zones are disabled and does not matter how many leave for once side.

that would also give time for saboteur players to place their mine ?

Completed

Basically the intention of this Idea was to prevent early flag captures as the title suggests. But the issue has been resolved by the recent Patch update which introduces a delay before the start of any CTF match.
