Forum Updates

Hi there! It's been a while since we have created forum updates topic. Before we jump into all the recent changes, the Forum team would like to wish you Happy Halloween! 

 

The Newspaper's closure:

At this point it is no longer a secret but at the same time no official announcement has been released regarding the Newspaper. Unfortunately, the Community Management has decided to shut down the Newspaper for good. With the closure of the paper, the Newspaper section has been removed from the site. But fear not, as all the old articles are still here for you to read. All the content has been moved to the "Your Creativity Archive", to a sub-forum called Tanki Online Newspaper

 

The Amateur Writing Section (AWS):

The Amateur Writing Section was a bit different from the Newspaper as normal users could publish their own articles, poems, reviews, stories etc. (Unlike the Newspaper which was exclusive to Newspaper Reporters). The original plan was to shut the section down along with the Newspaper. However, the final decision was to keep it open under a new name - "Writers' Corner". Feel free to share your articles there!

*The section is no longer pre-moderated.

 

Forum Games:

Forum Games were a part of the Forum for a very long time, but unfortunately, the section activity has decreased drastically in the past 2 years. With that in mind, a decision was made - to close the Forum Games Section. Like the Newspaper, the content was not removed from the site completely. You can view the old Forum Games here. We are deeply sorry if you were still using the section, but it was completely inactive for years and held no purpose on the site.

 

Parkour

Parkour used to have its own Forum section, however that's not the case anymore. We have moved the whole Parkour forum to become as a subsection of the Off-Topic forum. We do not think it deserves its own separate forum, also considering its activity (and the relevance of HTML5 parkour nowadays) too. You can access the subsection by clicking here.

 

Content Helpers/Administrators

The forum color of the group has been changed. The Content Administrators prefer this color over the "rainbow" one, which made it very hard to tell the difference between a Helper and an Admin.

We know that most of the changes are not the "happiest" ones. But our main goal is to make the forum as convenience as possible, especially for new users. Decreasing the number of sections is one of the options we came up with. As always, we would love to hear your feedback!

Sad to see the newspaper go.... will miss it ;) but hey there's still the AWS, or as we must call it now, the Writers' Corner. Amateur writing section and AWS roll off my tongue better than Writers' Corner or WC, but at least it is still there. Who wanna restart the newspaper through the AW- I mean WC? 

I also wanna ask, did the newspaper team protested about closing the newspaper, or did they ask for it to be closed?

Not the most cheerful update, but the forum team have to do what they have to do. *quietly sobs in corner about the closure of newspaper* seriously though I have tears in my eyes. Goodbye newspaper! you will remain in my heart forever. Rest in peace....

That's for sure, but it was expected. Sadly most people prefer watching videos than reading articles..

The decision was made by the Community Management. The Newspaper team wanted to keep the project alive, but as I mentioned earlier, the decision was made by someone with greater authority.

i don't and won't find any sence in this

closing newspaper section means removing a way of winning decent amount of cry (and sometimes premium) so how will this be compensated? 

also think about allowing us to edit some parts of profile

There are still many other ways to win prizes like Contests, events, eSports and the list goes on.

Sad to see the newspaper section be closed. But I'm even more sad about the forum games section closing. I had fun enjoying the games and trolling in that section over the years. It was definitely one of the better things in the tanki community. For me, that section will definitely be missed.

yeah, so true. But reading articles is so much more comfortable, especially with the huge edits people make now. Anyways, videos just does seem the same as reading, idk why. Just doesn’t feel as absorbed in it.
