Why is this community so toxic nowadays?

Recommended Posts

It seems well from where I can see.

however, there's always someone who's bent on trying to ruin the experience of another in pretty much all facets of life, the best thing to do is to not let it get you down and to remember that words of theirs are just that; their words - they don't have to mean anything except to them, and in most cases there's nothing more to such assaults than steam.

I know that's not saying a lot, but that's how I've dealt with similar matters in other places; is to simply not give credence to their arguments - the community here is by far not nearly as bad as many that I've witnessed in my time, and from what I've seen the vast majority here are friendly and indeed helpful.

Honestly I don't know, I don't see the community as toxic. I just see a normal topics and suggestions, with a normal discussions. Rarely see someone as toxic

Rather than that I want to ask why the community now is such a memes, especially some moderators who put under every real discussion a silly laughing face or GIF

"Nowadays" ? lol, it was always like that - it has to do with the average age of the player pool.

I completely agree. People often tend to forget the fact this is a game and the majority of the player base are underage, with the demographic vastly being centered around the 13-16 year old area, AKA middle-schoolers. So I'm hardly surprised - much less phased - when I find myself in a toxic scenario, where the main goal of the person is to berate whatever doesn't quite go their way.

Moreover, I'd like to say that I've thankfully managed to avoid the toxic end of the community by simply carefully picking my friend circles, and not going anywhere I'm not comfortable in. Keeping a keen eye on who I'm spending my time with and generally keeping a perspective that, most likely, the person being toxic to me is a child - it's much easier to overlook and get over such circumstances without leaving a bad taste in my mouth and/or ruining my gaming experience.

Lastly, I'd like to mention the fact that Tanki's community is by no means unique in its toxic attributes. In fact, our community is actually quite lovely when you take in other communities that are so toxic, they've essentially become memes in the gaming industry, such as CS:GO and Rust communities.

I think you are playing in Hight ranks, here people dont like to talk, since they think they are coll and they have name in tanki online, try small ranks here everyone is still friendly and they dont care name in game, and they like to have fun there, would like to see them in legend ranks too.

Well thing is, it mostly comes from the forum.

Remember when we had those mobile issues a few weeks ago? I asked Opex if he could do something about it. He answered with this:

"I only respond if it'll lead to a useful discussion."

That reply ticked me off, and I no longer wanted any part in his pointless group (vault 87) especially when toxic people like [Removed] are there. If you search into their forum profiles, I'm sure you'll find alot of incriminating evidence against them.

I'm also sure there are others like them.

But the one that finally made me snap is [Removed]

He made a very cruel comment to me in the Lets Discuss Thunder topic when I was just giving advice to someone who needed it. This was the comment that I remember:

"You don't have the endgame thunder experience."

As if implying I don't have a right to an opinion. And if that wasn't bad enough, when he was at the point of losing the argument, he brought his friends to argue for him.

He also acted coldly in my slugger buff suggestion, but I treated it as water under a bridge.

Why was he the one who finally set me off? You ask. Its because he was one of the few that I had great respect and trust in for so long.

Its so bad that I turned off most of my notifications in this forum.

I don't even feel safe in this community anymore. That's why I'm planning to leave after black Friday event.

I personally spoke to [Removed] when I was a low ranked on the game. He told be sometimes he found a need to be blunt or something. And hey all the guts you mentioned above are quite well known huh xD thing is you take criticism to hard. I know the people are a bit rude, but there's no need to be make a mountain out of a molehill, they aren't always so 'toxic'. I am not trying to be toxic but you seem a bit too sensitive.

OK look from what I saw, he is also trying to help the guy. He is sharing his experience. You have both your opinions, and I admit I am not so sure about your slugger suggestion myself. It's ok to for others to show criticism. Just don't take the rude part, take the part that says why the idea is bad.

When you said he acted coldly, isn't that what you think is happening on his mind? I had two forumers who trolled me for a while with reactions like shrugs or saw its to all my post, I won't name names. They did that because they misunderstood my reactions' meaning. I gave a saw it to a post, because I was interested in it but not actually 'like' it. Well that poster got angry and searched out all my post to simply react with a saw it to each of them. I was kinda amused because that was the second time that happened to me, so I did what I did before and sorted things out via PM with the person. I also am sad when a shrug was given to me by people I respected, because I felt like my post is useless and not interesting. However I felt bad about posting it, instead of about them reacting to it.

Be civilised to others if you want them to be civilised to you. Be friendly to one if you want one to be friendly with you. Insults are meant to harm, but it will only harm you if you take it to your heart. If you leave the game because of the community, I say that's a pity. The community is what you make of it. Ignore the 'toxic' ones, and have a good time with the nice ones. Everyone have a time when they are rude, whether it be because they are annoyed or because they are just that way. I have seen my brother when he was a generalissimo and he joined a xp bp battle comprised of only legends. The legend said: Go and play with other generalissimos nub or something. My brother was kinda Idk, he replied ok and left. I overreacted and was like, eewww how rude. However my brother doesn't leave the game because of that.

At the end of the day, don't take insults to heart and find the helpful side of criticism. Don't focus on the rude part. After all that is how we get better.

I find the community mostly friendly however; whenever  I get good stuff from conts I'll post in chat. Last time I got titan XT and I was so ecstatic and when I posted in the chat, loads of people congratulated me. Most are nice.

Its just I'm so sick and tired of being almost everyone's goddamn punching bag simply because I said something they didn't like. They probably prefer if I just jumped on their bandwagon and agree to everything that they say.

That's why I disabled most of my notifications. If I don't see it, then it don't exist.

Also I was planning to leave tanki for other reasons, the community just so happened to be the final straw.

I remember one day I was having a strong headache after taking vaccine, I opened Twitter and said a one sentence criticism on Kpop and went to sleep after that. Then after I woke up taking my phone, I get astonished by huge amount of notification that reached lastly to 50 replies attacking me. I haven't read them all in that time as I have headache, but honestly they haven't moved a thing for me, 0% affect. Why? It's just a pretty expected thing in internet to be insulted, so it was not an unexpected thing for me.

On the gameplay, it's such a normal to find too many toxic people who are criticizing you for a Shaft shot. But in forum? No, I have always wonder how you say that, till you exposed their names. Before At-Shin censoring them, the last pages in yesterday was opened before I sleep one of them was your topic. So I went to check the names. Honestly I agree with you in two of them. But [Redacted]? Definitely NO. I always see his posts as a scientific and truths, haven't saw him go personal. And I went to check the topic, honestly I haven't saw anything rude or toxic in that. Maybe only the Likes & Confused/s who make you see him rude, but he isn't controlling that, and he haven't gave a reaction himself.

To be honest I play with the chat off, so everything seems quiet.
But it has been a long time since I have seen a bully or a mult in my team. Maybe i am too busy playing...

Well, I'm willing to at least hear him out as to why he's been particularly harsh lately. I've noticed that change in him a few months back. Maybe this game is breaking him more than he's letting on?

As for the other three, they can shove their ideals where the sun don't shine. for all I care.

Not an issue only with tanki's community duh.

It is just that this generation of gamers are toxic, in general. At least, that's what I believe.

I don't really know if you have played Warzone but that game, has the most toxic people. Every time I kill someone, I just incur curses. ?

Oh imagine the condition of us, the helpers.

Mostly get branded, "ambassadors of developers" regardless of what we post.

"Update is good"

-- "yeah helpers, you got no right to say anything. You always give a stupid thumbs up for EVERYTHING"

"Update isn't good"

-- "Moderators have extra perms and perks, so why do you complain? Nothing changes for you"

Well, I might have to suggest you to just ignore people. That's one way you can attain, inner peace.

I played a ton of warzone and I can say that  community is way worse with toxicity. For example everytime I wanna play a battle royal mode people already be shooting people on the initial drop not letting them land. Especially when I have to wait a long time to win a gulag then spawn again or wait in the lobby for the next game and then to see the annoying cut scene.

Wrong, most of the angry from players on moderators is because of editing - removing - merging and moving topics and posts.

I am sorry but we have a set of rules, which we are to follow. We are not above rules.

Secondly, we've got reasons for why we do whatever we do. Yes, there are times when we commit mistakes, there always exists a scope for error, but apart from that, if we merge something, or do anything, we've got reasons for that.

I just was correcting your post, that most of players attacking is for editing - moving - removing their posts, not for moderators opinions.

@DieselPlatinum Are you trying to suggest that moderators have to be more in editing / censoring players rude posts?

Well, I'd be much happier if it gets treated as a top priority. But if they can't then I have to just respect their decision.

Doesn't matter anyway, I've already taken some counter measures.
