As with all special missions, you must check the special missions tab BEFORE you attempt to complete the objectives of the missions - otherwise your progress may not be recorded. This feels like a bug, but it has always been that way since special missions were introducted. RIP to you if you killed them, before doing that :( However also, if you killed them and then didn't turn in the mission before 9PM UTC, then I am afraid you have missed your chance to do so.

Don't make the same mistake tomorrow with the 3 Ultra Containers - check the special missions tab before you try to kill snowmen, and be sure to turn in your mission immediately when (if) you have killed them.

They should have fixed this ages ago, should be a simple fix. No reason at all for it.

The number of players that are continually confused and lose rewards from this is huge - and that would be very likely to happen since this isn't explained ANYWHERE in-game.

Ya. If it was explained ages ago in-game, they can't just rely on that as new players will be coming all the time, or players returning who did not play when it was explained. It is very stupid that special missions work this way, and it is an obvious, important and surely very simple fix to change it. Don't know why they haven't. Here we see ANOTHER example of a player complaining about this, and who has lost rewards. And it is not their fault, because this was NOT explained - as usual.

That was a weird one. IF it was indeed a bug, they let it keep going and selling heat immunity augments off it for a very long time, while it destroyed gameplay for 6 months - 1 year (can't remember how long). Wasn't impressed that they didn't fix that for such a long time, glad it is fixed now, but it took far too long.

The special missions issue also needs to be fixed asap, and should have been long ago.

yep, found this out when special missions weren't counting my supplies used some time ago, they started working only after i opened that tab

Containers can be obtained from the Special missions tab after completing the mission.

But to actually claim the mission, you must visit the special Mission Tab beforehand and then try to complete the mission.

You need to click on snowflake - (special mode button) to join in map.
