I think it's a good heuristic to use when figuring out how much weight you should give in someone's opinion, maybe just as important as the reputation score itself. Obviously, no one's going to be dismissing the ideas of a warrant officer because of their rank, and since rank is such an important identifier in TO, it should be displayed right next to your username in the forum.

I believe this could be useful in some situations. If it was to be implemented, I would suggest allowing users to decide whether they want their rank to be displayed or not.

I’d much rather like to be able to customise my forum profile with an avatar or image, than to have ranks visible (which can easily be viewed in the ratings site anyway).

I see MANY players here have a low rank while I think obviously they have a higher accounts.  In example, the one who just came in my mind now is YANUKFIN, and there are a lot more.

If the displayed rank was indicating the true rank of a player (assuming everyone is playing on main account) then it's very beneficial to shorten many of discussions. I see it's like browsing some player in-game profile, very good info.

With this idea, I can already see the many "you're too low of rank, so your opinion is invalid compared to mine" type of comments.

So this is a big no from me.

The player could have their high rank account banned unfairly and the player just don't want to waste their time on the whole nonsense just to get it unbanned.

So they use an alt account in its place.

1) that is the opposite of the post I replied to.

2) You have no way of know if the player has another higher account.

3) You can just look up the players profile to see the rank anyway - so the function is not needed.

Yes, given some of the criticisms that some people have had regarding my idea, I think that adding this would be a good compromise.

Status updated.

Upon asking about this idea, I've been told that we got no resources for that. Web developers have a lot of other tasks to take care of and these tasks have higher priority.
