Something really needs to be done about the shrug reaction feature.

There is a way around these fools that shrug at everything. When you ignore a user it should also ignore any reaction they give, (problem solved) then these clowns can shrug away their boring existence in blissful ignorance that their comments do not exist, cause we can't see them.

?‍♂️ ?

Yep, they can shrug away till they dislocate their shoulders.

Isn’t that considered offensive by some?

Well, I know it's a recurring joke among children, but I'm not sure if it's considered offensive by any significant number of people.

Oh, I’m afraid some people take it quite seriously.

I agree. I had suggested this idea to @Maf before - that we should have an option of ignoring a player's reactions. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be possible.

Can't people just IGNORE it? I really don't see the point of adding something like that. If you think the player's reaction is not useful in any way then just ignore it. I mean how hard is it? It may be annoying to get a notification about a user reacting to you the same way again and again but if that's the case then just IGNORE it if that's what you want. I really don't understand why these reactions are so complicated. Also I'm talking to everyone in this topic who thinks that they are seriously bothered by a person who doesn't contribute anything with their reactions.

@Arjun24

I agree

I've given 16 shrugs (including the one for the OP here as a joke) and received 38, but I'm not bothered

104 x "saw it" too, and I often don't know what that means, but also not bothered

Sometimes "haha" is negative / mockery

Perhaps negative reactions shouldn't be allowed, but forum members should also be regularly reminded that extremely long posts or excessively negative ones or just someone saying the same thing all of the time (like "FLYING CHEAT") are going to get negative reactions sometimes

I agree with most of what you said. However, I do think that players should always be allowed to give negative reactions. You need both negative and positive to make a good combo.

No thanks, I don’t want hundreds of notifications clogging up my feed because one person decided it was a good idea to react with ‘shrug’ to all of my content.

Is there an option to block a person?

That's more akin to the "saw it" reaction. Marcus was the one who decided to add that one, and admittedly it's not always seen as neutral. A lot of people interpret the ? emoji as something like "dude what?", in a comic and perhaps slightly negative way.

I can consider replacing "saw it" with the "ok" hand.

I don't think saw it sjould be replaced. I literally can't think of it as being negative.

What if one specific poster "reacts" to every one of your posts that way?

It's a version of stalking and ... completely childish.

Blocking that poster should prevent their reactions to your posts.

I don't get why everyone is so thin-skinned nowadays. In the past we had a proper dislike button, and the total negative score actually showed up on your profile whenever you posted something. This feature was useful to ignore trolls or "special" users (you know what I mean).

However, people were offended by this and we ended up with only positive reactions, now some users have like 3000 reputation, 2500 of which used to be a negative red.

Now, a neutral reaction is toxic? come on.

And we also know why it was eventually scrapped. People can abuse it with alt accounts or friends.

No, we can't "just ignore it" like:

• some people can't just not abuse it to annoy others.

• some people can't just be respectful towards other people.

• some people can't just not be offended when someone else has a different opinion.

Adding to this, i remember there is a limited amount of reactions a player can put daily, but it's for any reaction, not a specific one

Thats for new forum users only.

It gives you one reputation point, it never represent mockery. I have never seen a one using it for mockery, and even if someone do, people will understand it as a positive reaction.

It is never a bother if it is just 1 reaction, because that may be a genuine disagreement in a discussion, but this problem arises when you receive more than 5 shrugs on the topics that don't even promote discussion. It could be normal photos in Tanki Pic of the day, hence some anti mechanism should be implemented to prevent not genuine but constant spamming "shrug reactions" for absolutely no reason.

Or getting shrugged at no matter what you post, simply because the person just doesn't like you.

If a poster reacts to all my posts with an ?, then i just simply don't care. I guess they have a lot of spare time. It was much more irritating when confused\ thinking was spammed.

Exactly, and it is not about like/dislike, you can always disagree with my posts if you oppose it or don't agree with it, there is no problem with that. You can shrug to my 5 different posts in 1 hour also, provided-

You actually want to take part in the conversation by giving your views.

Furthermore, you are a regular forumer with having valid points yourself which made you to disagree with my thoughts.

Not contributing anything to the discussion, just sitting back and passively giving shrugs to posts, make it useless to consider.

YOU might not care.  You are not everyone.

Adding a feature where a blocked person can't react has pretty much only upsides to it.

No legit reason to allow them to "react".

And one guy says he uses shrug reaction if he doesn't care about the post. But really he cared enough to take his time and effort to put the reaction there.

If I read your post and didn't care about it, then I'll just move onto the next post.

Well, currently the people you are ignoring can't see that. Adding this feature will mean that they know that they're being ignored, and i'm not sure if that's what a lot of people want.

Maybe there could be a reaction ignore feature.

I can't speak for everyone, but I would not care if the players I ignored know I have them on ignore.  I mean, what are they gonna do?  Ignore me too?
