Reworking Miner Drone

Miner drone can be a real nuisance in capture modes. It isn't hard at all to make a minefield in a few minutes, and the just camp in your base, happily collecting kills while watching youtube or something, lol. Anyways, back on track, I had an idea mainly inspired by how mortar works.

Description in the garage:

Defense drone. Allow for a certain amount of mines to remain active for a period of time after owner's tank is destroyed. Decreases reload time for mines when any supplies are activated, or a bonus box is picked up. Maximum number of saved mines, the maximum amount of time it is saved up, and the bonus to the effect from boosted armour and boosted damage are based on its upgrade level.

In case you haven't noticed, I've changed a part of a description from 'allow a certain number of mines to remain active after the owner's tank is destroyed' to 'allow a certain number of mines to remain active for a period of time after the owner's tank is destroyed'. That means what it says; the rework will change the drone from being able to keep the mines active after his death for infinity, as long as he stayed alive long enough after his death, to the drone able to keep the mines active for a certain amount of time after the tank's death. Of course, you still need to stay alive long enough before the mines will be saved up.

Details of miner drone with 20 upgrades:

Drone recharge time: 30 seconds

Number of saved up mines: 50

Period of time mines stay active: 4 minutes

Boosted armour supply's effect increase: 100.0%

Boosted damage supply's effect increase: 100.0%

Supply reload speed increase: 15 seconds

With 0 upgrades  miner, the mines will stay active for 3 minutes.

So what do you think? I hope this will make miner drones a bit easier to counter. It took me a long time to type all this out, so some feedback would be appreciated, thank you! ? ?

1) Main mine problem actually comes from saboteur. One press of button and multiple mines dropped. lot more of those in the game than miner.

2) why choose miner if your mines are not indefinite?  Saboteur would STILL be better.

3) They already nerfed miner by making the mines disappear if you die 2x in 30 seconds. Certainly possible in todays TO.  Especially when your team is losing.

4) Use Spider module.  Poster is L7 and does not have a Spider module.  That might make an impact ?

@IncorpI personally think it should be nerfed even further then what you suggested. I would say the max mines that should be saved is 25 (at the most) and the period they stay active should only be 2:30 at the most. 50 mines is way to much. Think about it. They each deal 1500 damage a piece, so that would be 75k damage on the floor, asuming no armor is applied, and the defense could just camp there and let the mines do everything.

As annoying as a miner player can be, it really relies on a team that is near dominating or supporting the lines more often.
I'm kinda neutral to this drone, it's a piece of work, it isn't meta for certain, but can be useful in some game modes.

If you face a miner you can't defeat, don't keep going in there to die unless you have a surefire way to kill them again within 30s.

Critical damage from mines exists.

 

Miner isn't that much of a nuisance compared to Saboteur - that's the drone that needs to be nerfed (Decreasing damage from mines, removing critical damage, reducing no. of mines etc.)

5% max chance.  It exists but not really that much of a danger.

Yes, but just the fact that it exists is stupid.

 

Also, asking people to use Spider module is quite unreasonable, as in most cases it's better to have protection against another turret. For people who don't have 4 protection slots, it's just not feasible.

Just take Mammoth, ask someone to heal you with their Isida and clean up the minefield with your OD, since killing the guy has no effect on the mines.

I don't think this drone needs any rework or nerf.

This is just silly. 

of course it's feasible - you protect yourself against the "attack" you are most worried about.  If mines are not one of the top-3 you are worried about, then why complain?

If you only have 3 slots and there's 4 turrets really bothering you - do you get to complain?

It's a method of attack/defense, and should be treated just like another turret, which you can protect yourself against.
