Your first time in Tanki Online

Heya everyone,

 

Many started playing Tanki Online a long time ago, maybe some started recently, in every cases, this topic is made to discuss about your first time in Tanki Online. Feel free to answer these questions if you wish to:

- What was the very first map you joined when you played Tanki Online?
- What was the second turret you used for the first time? Why? (Considering the first one is smoky)

-What was the second hull you used for the first time? Why? (Considering the first one is Hunter/Viking)

- Do you have any fun fact, an anecdote which happened when you were nub? (You can write as much as you wish)

- How did you feel when you caught your first Gold box? And how did you catch it?

 

Alright, I'll start:

- My first map was Fort Knox, very great map, I remember exactly what were my first moves like if this was yesterday.

 

- The first turret I used was smoky, then I didn't know it had a cooldown, although I wished I could shoot instantly, so I looked for one who shoots without cooldown, and this ended with twins, which I used as a second turret.

 

- My second hull was perhaps Wasp, which I used a lot for it's speed, I wanted to be fast at the time, nowadays I use Viking.

 

- I have many, but here's one, I knew gold boxes were dropping, but I thought it was a daily gold box which falls at the same time everyday, so some days I felt bad when I missed the "daily" gold box, I also thought it was in only 1 battle. Alright, that's for free, I'll drop another: When I ranked up and unlocked FreezeM0 (Sergeant rank I believe) I thought for a moment that I reached the last rank, so I was happy, but I didn't realise all the trip I would have to do. Now I really reached the last rank.

 

- My first gold box? Wew I remember I was under pressure, I wanted to much 1,000 crystals, and get it, it was on the highland map, with my M0 Hornet, somebody flipped me but I was on the top of the tanks, so hopefully I managed to shoot with Hammer and catch it while being upside down, I'd say this was due to luck.

I remember first playing around early 2013; my first map was Serpuhov winter-themed, using Hunter and Smoky.

I also remember being really impressed with Twins and Ricochet. Those turrets were truly something else back in the day.

One funny story is that after I had eventually bought all turrets and hulls in the garage, still being a total noob, I didn’t realise that they all had up to M3 modifications. So I went from thinking, “wow, this game is easy, I already have all turrets and hulls” to “oh, crap”.

I started a long time ago in the time of old graphics, before rebalance, I left the game for some years before returning.

My first map was Boombox.

The first combo I bought was probably Firebird and hunter, as those were the first to unlock, if I remember correctly. Also back then, upon registration, I think u got a wasp as your first hull, can somebody confirm?

Also I remember how satisfying it was to upgrade twins to M3. They were really cheap (500cry iirc) and performed almost as well as the better, more expensive turrets.

I wrote most of this in my 10k posts topic, but here we go again:

My first game was in 2011, and it was on Boombox, which used to be one of two starter maps (the other being Sandbox). I clearly remember one specific scene, where I loaded into the battle (got absolutely blown away by the fact that a 3D game is available for free in a browser with no install), spawned in the corner, looked around, and saw a Titan Twins M0 firing randomly in all directions. I remember thinking that it must be some super OP tank that's really difficult to obtain.

Days later I bought Firebird (so that was my second turret), then got that exact Titan Twins M0, then got Railgun, and then finally figured out that it's better to upgrade one piece of equipment instead of buying every single new M0. Got Twins to M3, bought Hornet, then Rico, then Viking, and ended up upgrading Rico Viking to M2/M3 respectively before the 2012 Rebalance.

Back in MY DAY, the first hull was Wasp!

My second hull was Titan.

The first time I saw a Railgun was on Short Bride - he stood on top of the bridge and destroyed anything that spawned below. I was extremely impressed. It was also the first battle where I learned about self-destruction, because I flipped myself and there were no enemies to kill me, so the kind people in chat told me about pressing delete.

Super long battle on Bridges that lasted like 3 hours. From my team the only dedicated players left were myself and another guy. Everyone else just came and left. Back then the golds dropped at every 700 fund. Side note — it was actually random between 700-720 fund, which is why gold diggers would go from battle to battle looking for one that was around 700 fund, and if they joined and the fund was like 710, they would ask "gold was?", and if people said that gold didn't drop, they'd go occupy the gold drop location (which was always one per map) and take the gold.

Anyway, we were coming up on 1400 fund, and this other dude already got the gold at 700 fund, so he agreed to help me catch the 1400 one. We occupied the middle of the map, placed mines, and... well, I got the gold. It was very underwhelming now that I think about it: no epic fight, no last-second catch before dying, no epic parkour tricks — it just spawned right above me and fell on my tank. But I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I didn't even think to take a screenshot.

I do have a pic of the second one which I tried to take, but the viking twins got that one >_<

I first started playing consistently in May 2013. My first map was probably Fort Knox, which was always popular for the noob ranks. 

The second turret I bought was most likely Twins, which I used with Hunter for a while before moving to Mammoth/Rail and then Mammoth/Shaft, which I used almost exclusively for years with this account. To this day Shaft is the only turret I main. 

I remember I didn't know how to use Shaft's scope when I first got it. I ended up mashing buttons for a while until I eventually discovered that holding the space bar was all I needed to do. 

I also remember really wanting to play on the maps Crash and Gallery -- they were removed almost exactly when I finally got the rank needed to make battles on them (Sargent Major). I only got to try Gallery once and I never got a chance to play on Crash. It was sad; I remember being pretty impressed with Gallery. 

The first gold I ever caught was on Moon Silence on the large ramp that leads into highest section of the blue team's base. I remember being pretty excited about it, since it was hard to collect anything in my slow-as-molasses M0 Mammy (all the hulls were a bit slower back then if I remember correctly).

The first map i joigned was the unknown map from the  tutorial ad i received while watching a youtube video. Otherwise it was Fort knox OR moon silence.

The first combo i played was twins and wasp i think on account numericable (this one) then i lost the password and created the account superman12365, which is legend 142 right now. Strictly no one ever played on that account except me.

When i joigned, it was in 2012, and i was so young, i remember that i've met a slovakian man that was 25 years old, he was so old to me so when he asked my age back, i lied saying i was 16 years old, i thought the oldest i would be, the cooler i would be because i thought i was too young to be his friend. Funny now, i am almost the same age he has when i first met him, i feel old now. He played from 2012 to 2016, then he left forever and never knew my real age, that i was so young at that time, now i would like to be younger contrary to  before. However, when people ask my age in battles, i still respond some fake age like 62 or 73, and people trust me because of the big legend rank, they think im so old, and are impressed, but just for fun this time

The first gold i've caught was magic, because i always wondered what was a gold box, there were no tanki videos at 2013, so i saw "gold box will be dropped soon" and was excited af, then i randomly saw a golden box, it was tanki birthday so the gold was worth 5k which was insanely hard to get a that time. Crystals were so worthy. I didnt even know that this golden box was the famous Gold box, so when i took it, i was so happy, till now, i am so proud that my first gold ever taken was a symbolic one, 5k from tanki birthday in the highland map!

-All the way back in 2010 (I remembered that I actually joined in Summer 2010, while in October 2011 I joined the Forum), my first map was, of course "For Newbies DM" Sandbox with Wasp and Smoky. The first map in which I actually decided to play in was Winter Short Bridge TDM

-My second turret was Twins, I was intrigued by the infinite reload and futuristic appearance of the Turret, especially when compared to Smoky that looked like a peashooter.

-My second Hull was Titan. I wanted to have the max HP possible to win most 1v1 fights.

-I stopped playing the game after the Summer of 2010, after just a month and I returned during the fall of the same year.

When I logged in, I got the "We missed you!" gift, which surprised me a lot... I was able to buy Twins M2, Titan M2 and I believe the Flora paint.

I faced a sea of M0 players, and, needless to say, I felt like an unstoppable god with my combo. Everyone thought I was a buyer, when, in reality, I was just a nub playing for a couple of months. 

 

-Bonus fun fact that I feel like sharing: In 2011-early 2013 I was the founder of the Tanki Online Italia forumfree, which hosted fellow italian players, training sessions and contests. We then founded our own Clan (Cobra's Poison and then Nitro Danger)

My forum is long gone, but I cherish those times and those memories the most.

 

-I don't remember my first Gold Box too well, to be honest, so I can't describe in detail. I was never a big fan of Gold Boxes, but I remember that I tried my best to catch them, as crystals were incredibly valuable back then, when compared to now.

I remember getting crystals from the Battle of the Consultants event back in 2012 (it was kinda like modern-day Wars/eSport events, where you if you bought the right paint you'd get a prize). I ended up buying the right paint and got some crystals, some of which I used to buy the Alien paint. I think it had already been changed to its current, mostly-black version by that point? I genuinely don't remember.

Old Alien looked amazing, other than the red and black, it had a yellowish tint that made it unique. 

My favorite combo when I was in the WO ranks was Twins M3, Viking M0 and Alien, just awesome looking.

it was a Massacre DM, a bit weird for the game to throw me in there.

All i remember were the first instances, where i spawned in a crater, and even though i was recruit, that was a game with warrant officers, people going round with vikings, thunders and freeze.

I remember seeing the blue crystal boxes, and since they were blue i thought they were ammo pick ups for the Freeze turret.

My first match as I don't remember clearly should be either Cross DM or Serpheouv DM in around 2012. Started with hunter/smoky and my all-time favourite "white chequered Holiday paint", got the gist of how the game is played, ranked up, and then started playing with friends, all in all, a wholesome experience which got imprinted in my life which led me to stay here after 10 whole years ^^

Sadly my first times were on two of my relative accounts, and created my first account after 1-2 months of playing, so not so much memories with my first account as I started with a pre-experience.  Eventhough I wasn't play immersive at their accounts. In 2012/7 I created my first alkyng account.

The default combo was Wasp-Smoky. The second turret I used is definitely Firebird, it costs 5 crystals and was very effective (if you get to catch the enemy). And the first map I played was Sandbox. My second hull is probably Titan / Hunter.   In that time Twins - Titan M0 was very common, I was one of them, Polygon map, where was tons of them. More than half of the battle are Twins Titan M0.

SADLY all of my old photos images were on a host service which get shutdown in 2015, it returned after that but all of my old pictures get removed. This is the problem of storing in bad hosts, but was my first time in such a things. I have a lot of pitcures/videos from 2013+ but I don't care about them, they were after balance&graphics change.

We was playing with Titan M0, it was slow, I tried to convince my friend that upgrading it will make it faster, he wasn't convinced so I decided to upgrade Wasp M1 instead (cheaper), and started a race with him, I won and approved my theory.  Wasn't know than in real even Wasp M0 is faster than Titan M1.
