New turret — Scorpion!

The fact that no one was able to hit the rocket salvo with Scorpion does not mean a thing, it can always be tweaked by the Devs when they see that it is close to useless.

I am afraid that the new Turret will follow this pattern:

 

Release Broken only in UTs for some months with no protection available, then it will have OP Augments is special offers/UTs, and then it will be purchasable in Garage with its Protection Module... and only after a year or so it will be nerfed to an acceptable state. 

 

I might sound pessimistic, but by following a pattern like the one I mentioned above, the Devs could generate a large volume of income... releasing a new Turret as balanced or weak makes 0 sense at a business standpoint, and anyone who believes this could be an acceptable outcome is nothing sort of gullible. 

it's clear that they added it to the new mode so to see how players would react to it, and to test it out, so to adjust it at release.

I shall remind to everyone that the "rocket salvo that doesn't hit anything" deals a total of 5000 damage, 10000 with DD active.

Now a heavy hull has 4000 hp, go figure.

It wasn't designed for DM, unless you're ridiculously good at camping and mining to protect your position. Scorpion will be monstrous in SGE, TJR and even ASL.

for now only those who are willing to pay for this turret will get it, while we, that are not paying for this turret, will be able to get the module against this turret to mk8. So for now I don't think TJR Mode is dead.

It's the same with everything in this game. Magnum for example (that turret is weak af - I have never used it).

There's maybe two or three players that are really skillful with it and then someone comes across them in battles and gets demolished. These players never have protection modules of course.

They get pissed off and come to forum making threads that Magnum is OP and deserves a nerf. While in fact, it's not, it's amongst the weakest turrets in the game.

If a player equips protection module, Magnum no longer exists in a battle.

At least that's how it's been for me.

Even Helios, which indeed is way more powerful than other augments in the game, becomes not that big of a deal when you equip ricochet protection.

Same applies to every other turret.

Forgot to mention Shaft: Have I not been having Shaft protection module equipped ever since I came back, I would have gotten destroyed at least 20.000 times more.

True enough and if they also have AP immunity a maxed mag struggles against even low rankers.

As for this new turret, I have no doubt that EMP/AP/CRITS/FREEZE/HEAT/STUN/ and anything else the developers can think of will be added to it's arsenal in due time, for lots of cash.  All of this will be added before the protection module of course to maximise the cash from the hypnotised, delusional, I have more money than sense buyers.

Same old TO, recycling old ideas onto a not so unique turret and making a already unplayable game for most even worse.

Tesla was immensely OP from the moment it was launched, it was the actual beast of arms race mode and still is a powerful turret till now.

But I don't feel that OPness or Overpowered vibes from Scorpion.

maybe its high dmg in the time it get released will annoys alittle . I am actually curious about  its aguments. maybe some augments as annoying as pulsar be made for this turret.

Well, there it says that it was a concept, so they have been able to change it at any time and put it in a long range

There was a sort range artillery weapon in december, it was snowman's head, just like magnum but with a very short range. Maybe that's what they were refering to.

Yeah I thought the new weapon will be something like that.

But then again, that would not really be much different from Magnum, much better to simply make that as an augment for Magnum...

Agree with the rest of your comment, but I'm pretty sure the only time we had protection issues was when Hammer and Vulcan came out, and the protective paints were added only months later. With every subsequent turret the protection module became available on the day of release, and immediately sold for crystals.

I always thought the next artillery turret would be either a grenade launcher or an airstrike turret. The latter was the right one. I am looking forward to waste those 22m crystals on it lol
