Can you use scope mode with the Rapid Fire augment for Shaft?

Question

It doesn't say anything that you can't on the wiki, but when watching many gameplays of it I've never seen someone use scope mode with it. Just asking to be sure.

It has a -66% minimum and maximum sniping damage and each sniping shot consumes 1,000 energy instead of "charging energy + 200" like the other Shafts. Coupled with the fast energy recovery, this discourages you from using the sniping mode and instead only use arcade shots.

Even before this change, you would not really see people using the sniping mode with it in gameplay videos because it is specifically tailored for use with arcade shots. If you wanted to snipe, you would have gotten more efficiency with the other augments.

Looks like the augment isn't for me then. Which augment would you recommend if you want to be better in close range combat with Shaft (not necessarily by firing arcade shot), but still want to be good at sniping?

Short-Band Emitters or AP Shaft if you have it. AP Shaft requires you to use the sniping shot on the target beforehand, though.

I need to ask, is the acount you're using the one that you are posting on? Or do you have an account with a higher rank?

I used one where I reached captain but ended up broke from upgrading too many things so I'm going to start a new one.

Since AP Shaft can't be bought I guess you have to open an awful low of containers to have a hope of obtaining it, right? It doesn't seem realistic to aim at getting this augment.

Is Light Capacitors also a worthy contestant?

In the wiki the list of augments have different colors over them, what do they mean?

Light Capacitors used to be borderline OP, but it got substantially nerfed now. Not sure how good it is currently, but it's meant to be THE augment for people who like quick snipes.

The colour signifies container rarity. Blue is rare, purple is epic, yellow is legendary, red is exotic (Ultra Containers only)

Thanks for the reply!

Would you recommend Short Band Emitters as the augment if you want to be better at short and medium range combat with no downgrade in sniping shot?

Those augments without a price can't be bought with crystals?

I play with Healing Emitters, so I can't really recommend any other augments since I haven't tried them after the balance changes. @TheCongoSpider will likely be more helpful there.

And yes, augments without a price are only found in containers.

Frankly, no, not with the current settings of Shaft. And if this is a new account, you need not focus on augments for a while. Continue upgrading your Brutus and combo of choice. Augments come later, and by then, balance changes may occur to them to make them either stronger or weaker overall.  Shaft doesn't scale as well as it used to throughout the modifications so having it as far as you can early helps.

That is Short-Band Emitters' forte now, sadly.

I've forgotten the name, it was a long string of random letters. Doesn't matter though.

I know getting augments will be late in the game but I asked out of curiousity. Shaft is my fav turret so I know it will what I'll use ?

Anyway I appreciate your replies so thank you.
