GS in MM

Recommended Posts

New Idea.

I am starting to see more and more players at the Legend rank who enjoy sabotaging by using low GS. Not the 7-8K, it gets worse. AROUND 3000-5000!

Meaning no Augments, no Drone, and no Modules. Or just using Mk2s or something.

So I thought about an idea.

If people use low GS equipment into battles, they should be earning less exp/action done than what a 9999 GS player would. It doesn't mean that they should earn less score in matches. Just less experience.

Why this change?

Perhaps players at the low ranks are ranking up too fast. If they are using low GS, the game should be more grindey for them and would take them forever to rank up. And if they want to be serious and rank up, use high GS. Plain and simple.

Interesting idea. By "Sabotage" do you mean using low GS on purpose, even if you own a higher modification equipment?

Because in that case, you could still do it once you reach the Legend rank, for whatever reason.

Another potential issue I see is actually low rank player might choose not to overly upgrade their equipment, to stop ranking up too fast (debatable how much of an issue that actually would be).

Personally, I would impose a restriction to lessen the sabotage and "remove" the players that are simply too weak. A Legend player that tries to play with a combo that is 5k GS or lower would be presented with a message "your GS is too low, please upgrade your equipment in order to keep playing in MM".

How would he do that without being able to play at all? I have no idea, but if someone is a Legend with 5k GS, he might as well go play Tetris or something else.

Players have the right to choose the way they want to play, they may want to play with a turret they haven't upgraded too much, may want to test something, may just get bored of the tough gameplay.  All of the ideas about restriction / interrupting in player's behavior have proven its failure.  Before a while there was a vote system in the game who let you to kick some player if the majority of the team have voted him, with some basic algorithms (who many times just fail), this system made a huge controversy and many players were getting kicked out wrongfully, the game realized the mistake and quickly abandoned this idea forever.

There is a thing called pro battles or test server. There shouldn't be any reason to be a mult for others that want to play competitively in MM.

But this game isn’t a MOBA.

Even Hazel said he wouldn’t try to make MM competitive, and would probably save that for a special ranked mode.

It does get annoying though that every time I try to win or get tedious missions done like get top three in winning team and I have a harder time completing them at times because of unreasonable low gs as legends.

Either way there should be no reason why a legend should have gs below 5k in a match otherwise hes just muting.

Ironically, MM has exactly the same problem as PRO battles - and it’s exactly the issue for which battles transitioned to matchmaking from the battle list.

There are so few players that anyone who wants to sabotage or mult a specific battle in a specific mode can pretty easily do that nowadays.

MM is a farce.

This Idea sounds good, but again, Developers have the ideology to keep MM free and casual, thus it is highly unlikely that they will impose restrictions on equipment used (higher or lower) to gain less experience per battle.

The developers even gave an option to make private battles you know. You can just make your private battle and test out your equipment there.

Basically there shouldn't be any excuse why a legend should equip a ridiculously low gs.

Weak equipment alone is not considered as sabotage, some players made some bad purchasing decisions, other players came back after a very long time thus they do not have augments & drones.

I believe the word "Sabotage" used here wasn't meant to be taken quite so literally. This measure, if I understand it correctly, would actually help the players with low GS not to be thrown into the big water so quickly and give them a chance to build up their garage before getting into the higher ranks.

That said, I respect your decision.

but what would be the point of making them earn less rank-up exp if they are legends already?
i've seen plenty of 5-6k gs legend players.

Did you even read the topic? Not just Legends, but the whole rank system. If you are equipping lower GS at low ranks, you should gain experience slowly so you don't level up too fast to battle higher ranked players.

So is intentional sabotaging of lowing GS is the same as right to choose the way they want to play?

Remember this topic isn't about lower GS topic earning less points in battle, it is just causing the player to earn less experience, which shouldn't matter to Legend rank players, but to cause more of an effect on low level players.

Restrictions and benefits, controversial to the point of the topic.

Edit: What do I mean by this? Was the boosted experience income from what it was before really a benefit? Or a hindrance to progression?

This idea was not meant to really impose on the Legend rank players from using low GS in matches, but to prevent such cases into the future of the game.

Apologies if my tone in the first post has confused your thought.

Yes I've read the topic, and this idea wouldn't work here's why.

Even if you limit the amount of exp a low gs player can earn in a battle, it doesn't matter because that same player having under upgraded equipment is not going to be able to fight and kill the fully upgraded 9k gs players, and he's just going to die repeatedly to your average Helios user or some other overpowered meta, usually these players end up at the bottom of the scoreboard.

Sometimes the mm throws players that haven't even reached marshal into your team simply because there isn't enough players online or looking for the same game mode you're looking for so it takes them from the "quickplay pool", and of course it doesn't take into consideration the fact that one team has all 9k gs players while the other has a rainbow of low gs players + a few 9k. But this is the devs fault.

F4G7fe8.png

Here's a picture of someone who actually intentionally sabotaged the game (he was a 2k GS player)

Since we had won this battle i just decided to teabag him a bit in the last 30 seconds of the battle and took the picture of the chat to show it to a friend.

It's clear that they want players to rank up fast, so they will end up fighting against people who have the entire garage, this encourages those players with bad equipment to spend so to buy containers and improve their equipment. It's all built around revenue, they do not care how unfair it is to players and how frustrating and unplayable the game has become. You have to realize it, they don't care for their players, they care for their money.
