Where have all the good players gone to?

I'm not trying to say that I'm the best player out there, but how has the average tanker become so bad at the game? In at least 80% of the games I play (mostly Railgun Master), half of the players in the game have ridiculously bad movement, miss almost every shot and play like they're just not thinking in general. It feels like there are more bots playing instead of real players nowadays.

This doesn't apply only to the teammates, the opponents are also insanely bad. It's breaking me, honestly. Sometimes I play with weaker equipment on an alt account against legends to FORCE the battles to become challenging, but I still finish with a D/L of 2.5 with my brain turned off and I still lose because the teammates play like bots. Lol.

Again, I'm not saying that I'm the best tanker there is, I also do mistakes, but this lack of skill from the average player is seriously hurting the game. People reach legend nowadays and have NO clue how the game works.

I am a guy who casually gets 5.00-10.00 K/D every MM battle with ADRENALINE and another average augments.

I am a guy who can single handedly slows down 3 mega tryhard buyers in a group and sometimes make them rage quit or lose.

I am a guy who got into TOP 1 (not top 3) 3 DAYS in a row in an event where everybody were having the same conbo (Smoky & Wasp mk7 no upgrades/drones etc.) i played a lot i got 700k XP in these 3 days. So i was not playing around.

I play since 2012 and i got to Legend 91 in 23 months by just casually playing and not buying premium.

If some of you don't believe feel free to check my profile or you can find me in MM a lot during the weekend.

I see myself as above average player just like you. Here is why people are so trash all of a sudden.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Insanely fast rank up for new players.

2. New OP augments that make people not want to improve which leads to them believing that Skill doesn't matter a butterfly effect like that.

3.  Another stuff im forgetting about.

4. Saitama solos Goku im afraid.

Good players left when the meta moved from skill to p2w. If you honestly want to return to skill-based gameplay, go play one of the fan-made tanki games, relive the good days. Before containers, overdrives, status effects, drones, matchmaking, etc.

Don’t go and play those, I’ve heard they contain malware and/or hidden crypto mining software.

Overpowered and Braindead Augments + extremely easy game with no semblance of tactic left whatsoever.

All the good players who used to compete with Skill get frustrated when the average monkey keeps killing them just because they spend more money or just due to stupid game mechanics (ODs, tesla balls reaching even behind an enemy tank, Gauss splash damage killing you because some big brain teammate decided to stop in the open to fire)

This means that the good players leave and all that's left are buyers with low to no skill and less than average f2p players.

I myself only play once in a while nowadays, and when I do play, I can feel my braincells dying.

First of all everyone should get nobody is best, best dont exist, only best in certain skill and situations.

There are skilled players obviously not like before but they get overshadowed by p2w buyers who like to end battles within 5 minutes. No matter how good you are you will do nothing against 9999 GS buyer with atleast 1 braincell. So they get mad and leave because skill dont matter in tanki anymore, only wallet and overpowered crap and 9999 GS.

Also matchmaking isnt exactly good measure who know play. Pro battles are. Even real parkour is better to show skill than matchmaking.

Here i answered your question.

If you check my profile, you will see that I have 2500+ hours in CTF mode (I have way more in total), 99% of that comes from XP/BP. I also wrote above that the most battles I play are in the Railgun Master mode. The hours in other game modes are my total MM play time then, I guess.  So I pretty much play only Pro battles.

But these are unplayable now. Sandbox 4v4, the most popular XP/BP map, is always just a 1v1 or 2v2 at most, since the other players are irrelevant due to their lack of skill. They have no clue what they're doing and they ruin every battle.

@Son_Goku Please tell me how somebody can reach legend ranks and still don't turn their turrets in MM ?

As someone mentioned above, people rank too fast nowadays and just don't learn the game. A ranked mode would be the easiest solution to these skill issues, but it's too late for that now. Devs should have added ranked years ago, I'm sure that would have also made the game at least a bit more popular.

Matchmaking is mainly about who has the best turret, hull & augment for the map. The majority of the combos don't require skill nowadays. So to answer your question, the good players might still be around but they cannot show that they are good)

Tanki Online has the dumbest players (by far) of any game out there. And the reason is simple: this game strictly calls for money. So the less than intelligent player buys all equipment without learning the basics. No turning turret for the highest ranks is something that should embarass the developers. Vice versa, most intelligent players refuse to pay their way up and go elsewhere.

Its mobile players mostly, its an inconvenience to turn your turret on mobile so maybe its because of that

Mobile players have increased this number just a little, even before mobile version there was ALOT of who don't turn the turret.    Remember : mobile players mostly use hovering hulls, so the vast majority of tracked hull players are on PC.

True, I see turning the turret + playing the mode objective, is a must skill for any tanki player.  Many people are explaining why players don't turn their turrets and how weird and hard are tanki controls to get used to. But I say, if you don't turn the turret, don't play tanki, play any other game.

The no-necks prove that light/medium hulls turn faster than the turret's rotation they are using. Yes, they can turn the turret AND the hull in the same direction for a faster rotation, but why make things complicated, right?

Well, if you want to shoot to your side while moving, or peek around corners, or circle someone while shooting them, etc. You know this if you've ever dealt with someone that doesnt turn their turret, just move in circles and shoot around them and they'll just spin around not knowing what to do

It is not only the turret rotation. There are guys that cannot see the flag even if it is in attached to them. Most are just looking at one tank and keep their eyes only there. People camping and defending even when the last flag has left their camp. No sign of brain whatsoever.

Bad excuse  because they don't spin the turret even by a little. You can't convince me that a full battle of 15 minutes and they didn't see a moment where it's good to turn their turret.    While in real, 90% of the battle it's good (and important) to turn the turret.

Blame tanki online

- They introduce new turrets which require no skills at all to operate & aim (e.g scorpion/gauss).
- They introduce broken P2W augments (e.g hypershells) which undermine your skills & experience.

Normal matchmaking battles are infested with crisis fanboys who rely solely on status effects & overdrives to dominate.

The only skilled players left are playing mostly xp/bp or pro battles. Others simply have quit because of a lack of competitiveness.

Easy answer. Ranking to quickly, not enough cry to sustain garage equipment, upgrades before you rank leaving your garage weak and useless. Turrets, hulls, protection modules are all stuck at the last MK level you achieved, MK5,MK6, etc and costing so much to acquire for the next rank it's impossible to save the cry needed to unlock them, even with sales.

The XP to CRY ratio is the biggest factor here and hazel knows this, but will do nothing to make it easier on those lower ranked players. When they do eventually reach legend, which does not take very long in TO at all they have not been able to sustain the skill levels needed that you need at the end-game battles, were all the augments and OP gear prevail, making it nigh on impossible to compete and thus most battles in MM (never worked since day 1) are dominated by the few players that have maxed out garages and the OP gear they have acquired, either by cash or years of playing the game.

Summary:- (re-cap) All the negative aspects in the game, (there are to many to mention in 1 post) low level skilled players, ranking to fast, inadequate garage, OP gear (buyers) dominating most battles has one common denominator----HAZEL.

The negatives of TO far outweigh the positives by a large margin, again we have hazel to thank for this, mr cash rules and screw balance, viva la buyers, my fav players.

1. Hard work and motivation.

2. Keep up with another players that you know are skilled (look what they're using how to play with that conbo) MAKE SURE ITS NOT abusing a conbo like duplet hammer with paladin or something.

3. Find what turret suits you best. For example Gauss. Then you use want to use gauss until you consider yourself a pro with gauss then you switch to another turret that is similar to gauss (smoky thunder etc.) with these turrets you'll reach "pro" level way faster now and then you take another similar turret until you're done. This allows you to break from "I use this turret but people got prots against me so now i can't do anything in battle" also now you won't be chasing for the "best" turret every friday after something gets buffed/nerfed.

4. DO NOT BABY YOURSELF by quitting losing teams. Not only losing team can make a comeback and win but you having a hard time with enemy team will help you in this way you'll become the hardcore player. Heart of the team i guess and well not a... loser.

5. DO NOT BABY YOURSELF by using exotic OP augments (hyperspeed, helios, vacuum) until you're a PRO WITH THESE TURRETS. You can take me as an example. when i got helios i would get whopping 60-80+ kills a battle while another's 20-40. See the difference?

6. DON'T BE STUPID AND DO NOT DO NOT SLEEP ON ADRENALINE AUGMENTS on certain turrets its absolutely devastating. I won't tell which ones i'll let you find out yourself

7. Think of strategies with the turret you're using and try them out. see how they work out in different situations (do this after you're a pro with that turret)

8. Just because nobody uses that conbo it doesn't mean you should not try it. It may be the hidden gem. For me it was Gauss/Hornet/Crisis in a defensive support position.

9. Camping is not noob as long as you make you can "glue" your team with support or help them with capturing points/flags.

10. Test yourself in DM. If you're getting top 5 consistently you're way above average i would say.

I took a break from tanki then came back and it was basically another game (effects got added trillion new augments etc.) i was average player before taking a break and when i came back it took me around 6 months to become a TOP 3 every time no matter what conbo/mode  type of player  so if you're new here i can't tell you how much it will take but if i had to guess a year...? In the end it will be worth it trust me. Feel free to ask whatever you want if you want something more.

Thanks for the advice, friend.

Hm, asking more questions? I use Ares-Shaft and plan to get Short-band emitter, so I guess i'd ask for advice for using that. What playstyle and role in the match is it strong in? Which drones are the best for it? In short-range combat with it, do you recommend scope mode, arcade shots or both?

I personally think this combo is overall very strong. Ares' OD is probably OP, but even if it was a bit weaker I'd guess that this combo would still be very strong, including in short-range combat if you battle against only 1-2 enemies.
