Why are ultra containers such a scam?

I have opened 200+ ultra containers from special missions since August 2021, and I did not get even 1 exotic item since then.

Most of the times, I got crystals/supplies & useless paints.

The issue is that the distribution of an event like getting an exotic ultra container is very random because the probability is very low

So if the probability is 1%, you would expect to get 10 exotics if you opened 1000 ultra containers

However, the 10 exotics could be in the last 500 you open or something, so opening 200 without getting an exotic isn't that unusual

I haven't got an exotic from ultras for a long time, but I have also got exotics from opening just one ultra container

Ultra containers are somewhat a scam I would say. On one side there are few players who open 5 containers and get an exotic time and on the other side there are people who open 200 or more and get no exotic items. The game has a luck roulette for each container opened by a person. If you open at the right tme you get the good stuff or your stuck with crystals and useless augments.  For me there have been days I have opened 2 containers and got 1M from each of them, and there are days where I have bought about 300 containers and gotten 0 exotic items. So I feel its all about timing and luck.

It really depends, I don't know how many ultra conts I opened but it's probably a lot like a couple hundred and I've never gotten any exotic items from 2 years, while on my alts I got an exotic during the first month of that account. By they way, I haven't gotten anything more than epic from ultra containers for over a month now, and I do the ultra missions ever wekeend.

Comes down to luck in the end. You're on the unlucky end of the start. So was I when I started off. Since then I've opened ~5,500 UCs and my drop rate eventually reached the numbers the Devs stated.

The best way to go into opening containers is to have no high expectations regarding the rewards. I treat all containers as supply and crystal restock which is a thing you are basically guaranteed to get. Anything other than that is just a bonus. Yeah there are some cool rewards that can be obtained, but the chance of that happening is abysmal, the percentages are low and even if you hit the upper rarities, the pool is diluted with awful amount of useless paints, useless augments, shot effects and immunities you will never use.
