Why are so many players so bad?

One of my accounts are in the last ranks and I see players often still who do things like never turning their turrets, turning on Viking's OD when there's no enemies around, drive into everything so that if I stand infront of them not moving, they can barely find their way around my tank, and sometimes I see players who barely shoot, as if it's hard to find the button.

Is it because they are very young children, maybe borrowing their older sibling's account?

It's pretty disappointing tbh, because when it comes to gameplay, the better everyone is, the more fun the game is. And these players are not just bad but they seem to barely understand how to play the game, despite their very high ranks...

The problem is that the game is not skill-based at all, and that ranks are almost entirely meaningless. According to devs anything similar to ranked is not necessary ?‍♂️

"Overpowered and Braindead Augments + extremely easy game with no semblance of tactic left whatsoever.

All the good players who used to compete with Skill get frustrated when the average monkey keeps killing them just because they spend more money or just due to stupid game mechanics (ODs, tesla balls reaching even behind an enemy tank, Gauss splash damage killing you because some big brain teammate decided to stop in the open to fire)

This means that the good players leave and all that's left are buyers with low to no skill and less than average f2p players."

I think the main reason is increasing the exp earned. That's one of the changes I still wished they hadn't made. Cause without the time to build up their skill, the new players just don't stand a chance against the accounts of the players that were actually present during the time that it would take months to rank up.

There are many reasons, but we can summarize them in: Skills are no longer required. Yes, there are other reasons like exp boost, but isn't the main reason.

If you are preforming well with no skills, why all the bother? No need to learn or improve.  Thus, many just doesn't have common sense.

I don't think that this explains the incredibly low skill level of many players though. They must be very young children I imagine.

Could be mobile players, hard to turn your turret on mobile

Maybe the accidentally shoot their tm8s because touchscreens can be weird sometimes

That too. Playing with track hulls on mobile can get pretty tricky, especially if you were pretty good at using track hulls on pc.

You are talking about last ranks. Do you think it is different at the legend level? Still no turning turret, not understanding the game and so on. It is a mix between what you said and what the other said: who spends money to buy everything immediately? Certainly not adults or already developed teenagers. Buying equipment quickly refrain from getting any skill.

Some mobile players may accidentally activate OD. mobile players playing tanki on pc for the first times might bang around too.

Um yeah there's just quite alot of reasons. But really, the real question should be this:

Why should we care if there are many good or bad players? Its just a game.

It is just that good players are more enjoyable to match against.

Eh, I guess. To me it just makes no difference, you can get about enjoyment out of something as much as you make it.

I figured it was a combination of the playerbase numbers decreasing, new players being primarily from TO Mobile, and the game in general not helping you throughout the progression.

Augment descriptions being outdated, high rank restrictions on features, TTK being low, poorly explained mechanics and a lack of paramater statistics visible in the garage. It has been turning into one of those games where you need to peruse its Wiki before properly playing it, and even that is sometimes inaccurate or outdated.

I can't speak for PC players but TO Mobile is limited in what you can play effectively. It's inconvenient not having the settings be accessible during a battle, which they've increased to 15 minutes permanently. Auto-shoot on certain turrets is inconvenient on one whole being useful/necessary on the other making equipment changes more limited.

It's ok if the player is bad, but it's another story if the player is both bad and under-equipped as a result of the game not telling them anything. Frequently in endgame battles on each team, there are competent players, casual players, and cannon fodder. A casual player may not be very effective like the competent one but they at least have upgraded equipment to not make it easier for the enemy team to farm Overdrive charge/game mode objectives.

I've seen too many battles that get decided in the end because one team had more cannon fodder than the other. Battles where the majority of endgame Legend players having above 8,000 GS are almost non-existent. It only gets more frustrating and apparent with how hard they have been pushing these "Win X battles" missions, with players using their best equipment and the cannon fodder dying even quicker.
