Revisit these past suggestions. (read description)

So since the devs are planning to add bots into MM, I think we should reevaluate these suggestions:

 

• Separating pc players from mobile players.

• Ability to choose map size you want to play on in MM (Small, medium, large)

 

There are likely others, these two were what I could think of off the top of my head.

We could, but it might be better and probably easier to just separate them. If we give mobile users more advantages, pc players will complain that the mobile players have "so many unfair advantages". And vice versa. So that they wouldnt have to deal with one another in battle.

It's not a case of laziness. Every change has a resource requirement (i.e. how many man-hours does it take to implement it) and a list of advantages and disadvantages, as well as an evaluation of how it will contribute to the project's success and revenue.

Splitting PC and mobile players doesn't seem beneficial overall. Let's see:

Disadvantages
- Significant effort required to rework server architecture to separate the player bases onto different servers by platform
- Players will face more bots in games instead of real players, reducing the quality of gameplay

Advantages
- PC players don't have to deal with having mobile players on their team
- Mobile players don't have to face the more capable PC players

Considering the casual nature of Tanki MM games, I don't think those advantages justify implementing the feature. Am I missing something?

No thanks. Mobile version was made to increase the number if online players, so what's the point of removing the crossplay ability, if that's what the reason for it's creation is?

Nevertheless, as a mobile player, i want to play with my friends paying on PC, not with bots all the time.

They already do, even after the advantage we had was nerfed.

If it makes the game more fair and balanced for all to play, that--in itself--is the benefit.

(The matchmaking is already a farce--please don't waste our time by disputing this. Everyone complains about the unfairness of it. This isn't even in question.)

 

Who says there needs to be more bots in games at all?

Why cant tanki reduce the number of tanks required to play in an arena and start a game?

Why is the number of tanks in an arena a rigid number?

 

Do some arenas really need 14 tanks on each team to make it fun to play?

If it didn't increase the number of players--or if the number of mobile players are decreasing again, maybe the developers should focus their attention on other aspects of the game.

This is more of an advantage than a disadvantage.

It's not a rigid number, but I'm not sure if you remember that the current set of maps and player limits on them is a result of a long process of experimentation. Developers came to the conclusion that the current setup is the most appropriate, and that was actually one of the decisions where they had a lot of players' support.

And now that there has been a lot of changes to tanki, that number is antiquated and needs changed again.

I certainly remember the 16v16 fiasco from a couple of years ago that we all complained about.

 

And really, do we need seige (for example) or juggernaut?

Yeah, they might have been interesting, but just like all the dozens of maps (like skyscraper) that disappeared, maybe we don't need to have those games to dilute the player base. I thought the game was perfectly fine when it was just Deathmatch. Not sure all these silly side-games make tanki better.

Less tanks in an arena takes care of that.

That doesn't take care of whatever advantage Piratespider was referring to.

 

 

Why is making the game more fair always met with resistance by people who run tanki?

Actually I'm currently thinking of a massive idea to revamp matchmaking. And one of the things that's included is changing the player limit per battle, or rather the option to change it.
