I wonder why devs don't want to bring back old matchmaking system where players were able to choose what and where they wanted to play?

Modern MM is extremly uncomfortable. Once I joined and left the battle six times to play on the map I waned, which took much time.  

What you guys think. do you like current MM?

They can't bring the old MM system back as far as choosing the map you wanted to play. There currently aren't enough players to fill all the maps that were available. My personal favorite was skyscrapers, but I guess that one didn't make the cut. Personally, I'd rather see a weekend where they bring back a bunch of the older maps for us to play in rather than the completely tired, worn out, and thoroughly hacked 'Event Modes (of Boredom)'.

I leave many, many matches before finding an evenly matched map as well. It's normal now. I look at the balance of the teams when I first enter a match. If it's uneven, I leave. Sucks that we have to do that, but they really don't care to fix it.

I think it depends on what the definition of 'broken' is to each person here. You're both correct.

For me, 'broken' means 'unfair'. And the current MM system is vastly unfair (broken).  Back in the old days, I probably wouldn't have joined a 10v5 battle either. but I'd be more likely to join the match knowing they all had similar gear score strengths. I leave 10v10 battles right now where 80% of the tanks on the enemy have a gear score of 4-6k higher than me

Matchmaking in this game has caused many players to quit or remain highly inactive, such as myself. It is really unfortunate that this feature was removed as I think it has something to do with tanki rigging the game so buyers win more often. However, I feel that the decision to remove that nostalgic feature (which was before I ever started playing tanki offline) leads to its own set of issues primarily being that players would invite all their friends in a game to prey on a team of lower skilled players. The current matchmaking system does limit that to some extend, but seeing tanki's developers and their thought process, this issue likely never crossed their mind though.

Regardless, tanki needs to balance the matchmaking system as well as removing certain maps such as Berlin, Dusseldorf, Highways, Magistral, and Yorkshire as they promot camping meta and disappointing gameplay.
