The module step should match the protection in %

Recommended Posts

The module step should match the protection in %, this will make it easier to understand the protection each step gives.

Alternative 1:

  • This alternative is a display only change. Just rename the module steps to match the protection in %.
  • When buying a module (with 5 % protection), let the module be on step 5 from the start, with protection of 5 %.
  • Then it can be micro upgraded from step 5 to step 50, with protection from 5 % to 50 %.

Alternative 2:

  • This alternative will introduce additional micro upgrade steps.
  • When buying a module, let the module be in micro upgrade step 0 from the start, but with 0 % protection.
  • Then it can be micro upgraded from step 0 to step 50, with protection from 0 % to 50 %.
  • Adjust the price for the module itself to 40 000 crystals, the price for the 5 first steps could be 1 000, 2 000, 3 000, 4 000, 5 000 crystals. This will give the same price as now for a 5 % protection module.

On one hand I understand your point and I agree that it's annoying to have the step number always have a 5-digit offset from the protection value.

On the other hand, both of your proposed solutions will cause module MUs to be inconsistent with the rest of MUs. It will result in confusion among players, who will be asking why they bought a module that does nothing (option 2), or why there's a "glitch" that caused the first 5 MU steps to be skipped (option 1)? And the only thing you're improving with this change is the mildly annoying situation of step and protection numbers not being the same. In reality, I doubt that many players even look at the numbers — they just see a shiny "upgrade" button and they click it.

Well, it could be done so that you buy and get step one (1%), and then upgardes start from there. Step one wouldn't seem to be a jump nor it'd be completely useless.

Thanks for the feedback Maf.

The main reason why I think it would be nice for the numbers to match is that you most often enter the module section of the garage to change modules (in battle). Then the micro upgrade level of all the modules are very visible, while the protection % is only visible after you select one module. In such a situation it is more useful to see the protection % of all modules.
