It's just another 'currency' (read: shiny object) to collect to keep players buying.

Because it happens that you don't manage to do something in time. New tasks come with higher priority, some bugs appear which you need to fix ASAP, and so on. There is no any special reason for that. We just missed the deadline and need some extra time.

What kind of gift are you going to give for the keys? You keep giving dates and delaying them. We are expecting a nice gift because of the delay in the keys. For example, takoıns are waiting, the size of the gift increases with each delay.

To me this seems like a method to make it more difficult to open the containers and get what is inside. That is, if "you want" you have to spend more time on the game.........but I could be wrong.

Every single update is geared towards making cash and giving players less and less. Whether it's for crystals, TK, or cash the devs screw the players every time, they always have and always will.

Don't get me wrong, I think @RIDDLER_8 is a rare and special poster in this forum, long may he continue to post.

My own take on these "keys" is that I'm not bothered about them. I have and will continue to open every "NERFED" container that i get.

I will deal with the keys when they eventually come into the game.

They said the same about drones. As we all know drones were not the problem, the huge amount of different augments for every hull/turret was the problem, facing not only "new players" but seasoned players to, as they just kept adding them to the garage AND changing the parameters whenever they felt like it. 

As for "old containers". Back in the not to distant day "the old containers" gave out much better rewards. One example of this was the crystals you got, 3.500 which has been reduced to 1,000. Old back in the day containers were far superior to the nerfed garbage we now have.

This ratio of 1/10 seems very unfair unless the new containers via "keys" actually is a better/more rewarding system. Somehow I doubt this new update for containers will match the old back in the day container.

The devs are systematically devaluing anything that helps players out with in-game currency. 

The devs have the monopoly on the game and their greed has no limitations, which means more of the same cash grabbing via updates, with the players getting less and less for any currency they spend on the game. 

For all those who give a  for every single update the devs have ever brought out  GET A LIFE

I think we all miss good old conts, where you could get skins and premium.

If I am correct, for epic reraity in ultras you get 100k cry, now you get 25k. And it is fixed, so you actually can't get better rewards,

 

Still waiting for contracts, we will soon have aniversery, 1 year ago they announced contracts!
