Introduce proper aiming for mouse controls

@Maf yeah but I was talking about aiming up and down with isida. Broadband emitters augment only works horizontally.

The cone for Firebird, Freeze, Isida and Tesla are both vertical and horizontal.

@Maf the game is automatically aiming vertically for you. Take that away and the game requires more effort. Instead of moving your mouse left and right only, now you are required to move it up and down at the same.

But like, it would take us more effort, and... then? What will you have achieved? There are games that are noticeably faster than Tanki, for example Counter Strike or Valorant, where you have to aim both on the horizontal and vertical axis on your own, and it is not a problem at all. We would not struggle with this and after needing to get used to it for a while maybe, we would end up being stronger than before. By the way, we will be stronger and you keyboard players will still have to deal with your same old outdated controls. You really think this would make the situation better for you?

The main problem still, is that since you want this for mouse only, it would make mouse significantly different than keyboard, and that's just a bad design. It will play like two different games. So, if mouse has this, keyboard will need to have it too.

@TheCongoSpider I'm not even going to start with you

Fine, fine. ?

I'll just leave this here and tell you that it increases the entire cone angle which is both vertical and horizontal. Here in this video it is utilising the increased downward (vertical) cone angle from below.

My man, if you can do that faster than my team you have a bright future in game development.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's actually easy to outsource production of skins using all the money you guys make ?

That way it won't take six months to release a skin.

that isnt even that much angle downward. and notice how hard it is to keep the beam connected consistently

Did you not watch the video I sent? Let me quote it for you: "The idea of mouse controls in Tanki has been around since the game was first introduced. There was no way practical way of implementing it in Flash." That's why it took so long. Not my words, that's what literally the developers said.

Yes that video was from 2015 (5 years after Tanki), but mouse controls weren't superior / more OP except in late 2020's after Ares. If you was using mouse controls in 2018, no one would argue, yes you may have the peek advantage but the controls were very hard. So mouse controls are an intruder thing to Tanki, not since its starts.

I may have not played Tanki for around 6 months, whenever I enter I see oh they did something new, but just when I enter the Ratings page, they still haven't updated it and it takes ages to load. One time they weren't adding the new turrets / modules icons because they were delaying them for the new interface. Years and they haven't implemented anything. HD skins started in 2020 and they still haven't finished them all.

Not since Tanki started, yes, but the developers clearly mentioned THEMSELVES that they had planned to have mouse controls ever since the game was first introduced. How clear can a sentence be? It was not possible due to flash restrictions apparently, but eventually, as technology and knowledge progressed, they seemed to have found a workaround.

Mouse controls are not only about hovering hulls. I play XP/BP mainly, which is arguably harder than MM, since around 2016-2017 with mouse only, and ever since then I've always had an advantage over players who insist on using keyboard, simply because of the unrestricted field of view you have with mouse. So them not being superior before hovering hulls is wrong. Getting used to them on tracked hulls was a bit difficult in the beginning (especially with Railgun), I have to admit, but once you had it, you were simply better.

who insist on using keyboard,

Another one who puts the blame on the players who play with keyboard in TANKI ONLINE. I don't have problems with who play with the old mouse controls, I've never get used to them and they weren't making a problem in the game. Heck, Tanki didn't even just introduced the broken mouse controls with hovering hulls, they introduced them with weird advantages like being unflippable, sliding to the sides with high speed, crossing over the tanks, hopper-crisis combo, etc... This was a very unwise decision from developers to introduce such a controversial concept with the worst way. This definitely caused a high resentment between players and at that time players were explicitly leaving battles when they see that combo.

I said I never get used to old mouse controls but the flying mouse controls I got used to them in like 10-20 seconds maximum.

The vertical aim limit (a.k.a. the maximum elevation and depression angles) would definitely need to stay, as it's an important factor used in balancing turrets.

Yeah.
