Can someone please explain why....

 Share

Question

- 75% of my railgun shots are missed. Sometimes even in front of an enemy tank. I have 100 Mbps of internet and I am not cross-eyed.

- If I target a tank that is in a higher or lower level, even a little, always a miss. Playing with Hunter mainly, sometimes Dictator (I do not have others doing the swinging motion).

- My loading time seems to be longer than other railguns, but this is just a feeling for now.

Railgun is 100% upgraded and using PC.

PS.: I forgot to mention: sometimes it does not even start to load, but I guess that might be due to some kind of augment of the enemy.

You already mentioned that horizontal auto-aim is for users on mobile devices only. Now you mention upwards auto-aim: is that also for mobile devices only?

Am I the only one playing on a PC? That would explain so many things...

Most turrets have vertical auto-aim.

Tesla ball, Twins, Hammer, Ricochet - 11° up, 14° down

Smoky, Thunder, Scorpion - 9° up, 12° down

Gauss, Shaft, Railgun, Terminator - 7° up, 10° down

Striker and Vulcan were the same as Smoky and Thunder until late 2021 when their upward auto-aim was increased to 45° as an anti-Hopper measure. Everyone has this.

Mobile and gamepad players have horizontal auto-aim, ranging from 3° to 5° to the left or right. Again, until we can see a video recording of your issue, we cannot help you.

You need to record a video of this.

Thank you for getting back, but I remember from long time ago how difficult it is to record and post a video for this game (download a specific software, passing through a specific program, then enter a specific website, all unknown to me).

Without a video it will be really difficult for anyone to have a clear understanding of the issues you mentioned.

I would recommend you to try out Bandicam. It is a simple, free to use recording software that many Tanki players (myself included) used at some point. Yes, there might be better alternatives out there but in order to assist you all we need is some footage of your game. Here is a simple tutorial focused on how to use Bandicam and another one focused on uploading a YouTube video.

If none else understands the problem, it means that I am the only one having it. Everybody else seems to easily shoot up, down and especially on target. Can you guys at least tell me if people playing on the mobile phone have some kind of auto-aim that PC people do not have?

It can also mean that you may have been misunderstanding a series of events in the battle. This is why having proof of the occurrence helps in solving the mystery. It answers as many questions as possible.

Mobile (and gamepad) users have horizontal auto-aim on some turrets. But this has nothing to do with what you're reporting here.

It happens to me, I suffer it specially when being a Juggernaut: shots go exactly over the enemy, even when we are both at the same level. I guess it is related to high ping and aggressive maneuvering while shooting, and nerfed vertical aim assist (it was better some time ago). You can hit all your targets if you manage to delay your shoot a fraction of second in order to let the aim assist work.

Aim assist with railgun on a PC? No, my shots do not go over. They simply miss the target too many times, right or left when on the same level. And most times I cannot shoot higher or lower, not even a bit, shot goes straight level. Other railguns never miss even if they are doing all sort of jumping, turning, etc. Me, steady, aiming, shooting... miss!

One thing I noticed: other railguns do not use Dictator or Hunter, which are the only hulls I have. And I am talking about Pro Battles, just in case it could make a difference.

Do you have a video recording of this? Do you remember the latest time period when things felt normal with it?

I do not have video recordings because I do not record. Vertical aim was nerfed around... two years ago?, after the increase of vertical aim range (introduced to counter Hopper) turned out to be too good.

Only Vulcan and Striker received increased upwards auto-aim and that was in late 2021. Are you saying your vertical auto-aim has not been working for almost 3 years?

It is not difficult. You download OBS to record and maybe watch a short video on how to set it up. Should take not more than 5-10 minutes.

Then, it's just one click to start or to stop recording. Once finished, OBS automatically saves what you recorded where you want it to be saved, and you just upload it unlisted to YouTube. You need to "pass it through a specific program" only when you want to edit your footage, but you don't have to edit it. Overall, recording and uploading is a pretty easy process nowadays.

But yeah, we can't really help you figure out your problem without a video about this.

@Gabe2607 Hi did the above answer help to illuminate the problem? Can we close the topic?

All interesting info, but I seem to have a unique problem with my railgun missing 75% of the shots and not having any vertical aim at all.

As annoying as it can be, I guess I will have to live with it and close the topic.

Thanks for asking.
