If you haven't noticed yet, every statement coming from you on this topic is basically rephrase of what Alternativa has announced. Opex said, Opex said, Opex said... There is no thinking, reaching, and analysis involved at all.

I'm sharing my opinions, as well as what I hear directly from devs. The fact is that whatever is said by Opex or explained in the Vlogs is our only official information about the game's development. Sure, you can take what they say with a grain of salt, but I don't think that they're outright lying.

Now, since devs are planning to continue developing Tanki Classic for HTML5 and in-browser access, logically it must mean that enabling browser access is essential enough for them to make this major decision. That's my "thinking and analysis" in action, if you will.

If your believe is to be believed, then we won't be seeing a sustain drop of players through out the years.

How would we NOT see the player count graually dropping? Tanki Classic won't be attracting any new audience, while the existing audience will gradually stop playing as they get bored. It's inevitable.

Dude... you really need to see beyond "Tanki Online"... and their official information. I know you guys have gotten used to this pattern, but come on... You are a grown man with independent thinking.

About HTML5, like I said, that's a reverse causation.

Have you ever considered the options available to them in a "hypothetical scenario" where browser support is not relevant? Switch to a "proper" game development framework like Unity or Unreal? That's almost equivalent to making a new game from scratch. The team skill set, on the other hand, is also another concern. The expected effort and risk simply outweigh the potential return.

Or maybe they could revive Tanki X, and make changes accordingly. Oops... that name is taken. That's sucks, right? We can't call just it Revive Revive Tanki X or something like that. That would be really lame.

So today, whether the team wants to support browsers or not, keeping the current HTML5 stack is the only viable option for them. And that's not a good thing really. They have already lost the golden opportunity to do so in 2017. At this stage, there is barely any room to recover in this department.

About Tanki Classic, first of all, that statement of yours is completely irrelevant to what you quoted me at all.

Secondly, Tanki Classic is exactly about capturing new audiences, aka people who played TO a long time ago, but eventually stopped.

I mean come on... why would a project team want to focus on existing audiences in this situation? Drawing people away from their main project to a side project that is known to be less monetizable, and expected to have less feature update? This absolutely makes no sense.

The question is, whether it will work as they have planned, where there will be enough people decided to jump back into the game. Or like I said, a decent number of existing players get drawn to Classic, leaving even fewer people in the original game? What you have posted previously summarizing the "official information" has some hints of the answer to these questions BTW. Go take a look.

Lolwut? That's not a new audience.

Tanki Online runs on HTML5, so if Tanki Classic is also made with HTML5, then both games can essentially run the same back-end systems while maintaining completely different front-end facades. This allows devs to release technical updates (like anti-cheat and performance improvements) to both projects simultaneously. It also means that they can have one big team of HTML5 devs who can work on either project, if needed, as opposed to two separate teams with different people specialising in different game engines.

By the way, Tanki X was created in Unity and that project failed. Why would it work the second time?

I suppose the kind of people that will actively play Tanki Classic are the type that are disappointed in the current game and likely spend little to no money on it, whereas in Tanki Classic they'll be more inclined to support the project.

There's also another indirect reason for creating Tanki Classic, which I can't disclose. But it boils down to "we need to give existing players something nice that they will appreciate".

How is tanki advertising? There is an age factor. Many of the players playing in tankis golden years are much older now, maybe with families and jobs. The decrease in players may be ones like myself that just dont have as much time as we once did. Will this crowd come back? Maybe ?

tanki needs new 14 y/o kids to get hooked like we all did. I fear that classic might bring ppl back for a bit before busyness of life takes over

Been living under a rock lately when it comes to TO (I've been playing other games, for one) but this actually seems pretty interesting. The main thing I'm hoping for - besides the lack of excess Content (I still have no clue about grenades or new augments) - is that it'll be less intense on devices. One of the main reasons I slowly started playing less Tanki was the amount of projectiles/items in the game causing random, significant FPS drops coughScorpioncough

I've heard about Tanki Classic's return (that is what brought me here, after years), and I'm looking forward to it. Those were the days, simple days, without modules, augments, overdrives, and drones, only supplies... before developers decided to go into the completely wrong direction, so we have what we have now.

Developers have decided to bring back the 'Old Tanki' version of the gameplay under the name of 'Tanki Classic' which will feature the Flash interface and the old mechanics... No hovering hulls, no current overpowered mechanics, just simple classic gameplay.

That's all I know...

Please bring back the old over drives, the one with the blue sphere and gives all supplies. It's the best.

I don't mind getting magnum as well.

I would also like some of the older alterations, those from before the name was changed to alterations. They were pretty balanced I think.

Give it time.

If TC takes off (big IF) they will revert back to their scam tactics, It's all they know.

Early Access information, if you haven't watched episode #530 V-LOG and don't want to:

  • Access to those tests are via T.O account.
  • Account will be verified to according to what special offer ("Nostalgia" or "Old School") was purchased.

For Early Acess there's gonna be 5 phases:

1. Main Testing Phase: Participating in iterations of test builds, which has different settings for mechanics and visual components. Players can create reviews, comment, discuss and share their feedback. When those tests close, Classic account will reset.

2.Preliminary Voting Phase: This will end with voting. Before it, mechanic configurations will be tested multiple times. It's goal is to form personal opinion on tested Classic aspects before the voting begins

  • Voting will be available until test closes. It's anonymous. There are 2 votes which will be calculated as %, "Approve" and "Disapprove".
  • List of voting (IMPORTANT: NOT FINAL)

               a) Overdrives: Enabled or disabled by default
               b) Supply cooldowns: Activation with short intervals or "garland mode" (activation of all supplies at once)
               c) Gold Boxes: Periodic fund-based drops or random drops (with or without fixed drop zones)
               d) Skin augments: mentioned in episode #523(Skins-Tanks of XT,LC,PR; mentioned Augments in Skins dependent on voting) and #528 (equipment Skins for Garage)
               e) 12th turret in Tanki Classic: Striker or Gauss
There will be 4 ranges of turrets, like in T.O

  • Melee,
  • Short range,
  • Medium range
  • Long range

In every range there are 3 turrets. Related to equipped modules, protecting against 3 turrets each.
By now there's 11 turrets and 2 ranges finalized:

  • Melee range: Firebird, Freeze, Isida
  • Short range: Hammer, Twins, Ricochet

Placement of the rest of turrets in range will depend on voting results:

  • If Striker chosen, turrets will be assigned like that:

Medium range: Vulcan, Smoky and Striker
Long range: Thunder, Railgun, Shaft

  • If Gauss chosen, turrets assigned like that:

Medium range: Vulcan, Smoky, Thunder
Long range: Gauss, Railgun, Shaft

3. Final Game Build: Building the final version after voting on Classic settings.

4. Early Access: Launched after final account reset. Road To Legend for those who bought those "Nostalgia" and/or "Old School" at least 1 week, 1 month max earlier than for others.

5. Global Launch: After Early Access

  • Those who bought "Personalized" special offer can activate nickname reservations.
  • Early Access T.C nicknames will copy them from T.O. When nickname changed after global launch, that feature will be available in the game. It will cost you with Crystals.
  • Fresh start for those who hadn't bought any offers.
  • No need to hurry, devs are focused on battle interface, adding hulls and turrets assembling interface, and many other things. It's planned to be finished by the end of July to the beginning of August. After that tests will start.

Possibility to buy Early Access special offers prolonged till the End of July.

And when did they charge money in order to be able to continue working on this?

Was that back in April...?

@Jeers4U hypothetical situation: if they actually end up releasing tanki classic and all those testing phases really happen... what would you do then?

This shouldn't be a hypothetical situation since they have already charged money for it.

Nothing.

Why would I have to DO anything?

Do I think it will suck? Yes.

Will I try it? Also yes--as long as it is free and costs me nothing to play it.

Tell me... in your country, is it common to give your money away and not know whether or not you will get anything in return for it?

I'm just asking.

It's when the first tests will begin for those who bought Early Access and first votings. It won't be a global launch, when they open game for everyone, not just those "Early Access testers". I guess it will be something like test server, you play on it for some time and at some point it gets closed and testing Classic account is reseted. And meanwhile players can share their feedback/opinions regarding it.

There has been chit-chat that a subscription might take effect, "TO KEEP ANY SCAM CASH MAKING TO A MINIMUM".

We both know because this is TO, THE biggest scam racket in gaming that they will DEFFINATELY be charging cash for in-game gear, this is a given, set in stone, written in blood, and good "ol" hazel will make sure it happens and that players dig deep and spend blindly.

If it wasn't so pathetic it would actually be funny.

SCAM?????? ?????? you really don't know the meaning of the word “scam”. and TO the biggest scam of gaming? yo rlly don't know about "the day before".
The game will be free and the "subscription" that you say scam, is just a thing optional,  premium, just that that will be cheapier than the TO premium. iirc the items that will be on shop will be just crystals and premium, just that, but saying the TO is the biggest scam is not knowing nothing about scam word

I'd go as far as to say the game should be a paid experience to begin with with benefits like infinite supplies and ranking up automatically unlocking equipment/upgrades. Add achievements and references for the old fans.

This is already a niche thing a vocal minority of the fanbase wants myself included, and I would pay decent money or even a subscription to have a nostalgic recreation of my childhood without all of the negatives.

Also I had a random idea: This game's equivalent to Juggernaut/TJR should be a gamemode where there's a powerful Godmode_ON everyone is trying to destroy.
