Proposal to Separate Hover Hulls from Traditional Tanks for Balanced Gameplay

Anyhow, the rest of your post seems to be just repeating in different ways

It's normal for it to look like that, because each of you is looking for some details, has some special questions, of course there will be discussions about the same. I'm not going to write about Area 51... and it will remain so, it cannot be written in any other way when the situation is catastrophic

It doesn't matter at all how old the video is, the point is to show the difference between floating hulls and tracked hulls.. This looks more like star wars and some circus than the game we are all used to, and therefore it is clear that more real players use tracked hulls..

This is like showing the video of an airship and saying that it demonstrates the mechanic of the current airplanes. The way hovering hulls worked back then the video was made and the way they work now is completely different.

Hovering hulls as a concept don't fit the game, regardless of how you apply them. It is just like the saying: "Fruit of the poisonous tree", it is useless to try balancing an imbalanced concept. It will always feel wrong.

Actually yeah, you're absolutely right.

On a somewhat related note, I can't believe that teleport hackers are such a massive problem in Tanki

Spoiler

It doesn't mater that the video is 13 years old. The point is to show that developers do nothing to fix teleport hacks in battles!

@GhostLynx, it's refreshing to see the detailed opinion of a newer player reaching endgame or a returning player from a long time ago being thrust into the modern 2024/25 Tanki. However it's very clear some of the things you say are misguided if not overreactive.

The game has a strong and loyal player base, and addressing this issue would only strengthen that bond...

Addressing this issue as wildly as you suggest will hamper the experience for the remaining players. The game does not have enough players to enforce segregation of hull types.

Let me get this straight again.. you’re telling me hover hulls don’t have a significant edge, yet even at their lowest upgrade levels, they already outperform tracked hulls in crucial stats? Fine..

  • A Hooper hover hull at MK1-0 starts with 9.00 max speed.. that’s its baseline.
    - How much does that increase as you upgrade it?
    - How many classic hulls have that kind of initial speed?
  • An Ares hover hull starts with 2000 armor at MK1-0, while a Dictator hull, a tracked tank has only 1500. Is that balance?

Yes, ignore the fact light hulls are meant to be fast while having relatively paper HP. Ignore the fact that that 9.00 is the TOP speed and that every hull has an acceleration paramater dictating how that hull feels to play with that top speed along  with other movement parameters. Ignore the fact hulls of the same weight category had the SAME top speed and HP at Mk1 and Mk7+. Ignore the fact that weight categories even exist and try to prove a point by comparing a heavy hull with a medium hull.

Forgive the developers for trying to create interesting and imaginative event modes (do you know what these are?). They should just create the same bland Deathmatch in [insert small map] forever and ever with no variety. Evidently that's what people want, going from your complaints.

And if you aren't aware, event modes are separate limited time queues from the general Matchmaking pool that employ different game modes and gimmicks. Some of them you may be familiar with in other games, some of them are imaginative using the equipment and mechanics that are present in Tanki, such as the video you were posting. What you see there is edited stats of Hopper to shape the gameplay experience into the gimmick they want.

You should add an option for us to exclude hover tanks from games we create.

They ruin games, 4 tanks in a game one is hover, they pick up flag, fly from one base to other, drop flag, job done ???

Makes me want to quit tankie.

I use low gravity in games because it speeds up the game and requires a bit mor skill or experience to use.

I used to drive tanks for real so the si fi stuff relly bugs me, with the fancy weapons and plasma shells etc.

No skill needed to dominate  a game.
