Mix old and new maps in events instead of only new ones

I want to suggest something about how maps are chosen for events. In Quick Battles, there's a good mix of old and new maps, so players with weaker PCs can still play smoothly most of the time since they end up on lighter, older maps a lot.

But some events only use the new maps, and these new maps are a lot heavier graphically. I'm already playing on the lowest graphics settings possible and I still get massive lag on these maps. My ping jumps to 999 and sometimes I can't even move for the entire match — I'm just stuck watching everything happen around me with no control over my tank.

This means players like me who have older or lower-end PCs just can't compete in these events, even though we can play the rest of the game totally fine on older maps.

My suggestion is simple: events should use a mix of old and new maps, same as Quick Battles does, instead of only picking the newest ones. This way everyone gets to join in on events, and the new maps still get shown off to people who can run them well.

Let me know what you think, or if you've faced similar issues with new maps on lower-end PCs.tanki.gif

Declined

Its not about the FPS sadly, many of the old maps were made and designed for old turrets and a pretty stable gameplay; they are not suited for the current state of Tanki Online including grenades, hefty augments and overpowered turrets.

Its funny that you use this argument to decline this idea, while Tanki itself is contradicting you with quite few events they made on exactly the old maps, but ok.

I believe only some open maps could facilitate the game, let me remind you that too with certain equipment, like mammoth hammer, wasp fire etc. If you have old maps like Combe, atra, esplanade, noise etc with the current matchmaking game equipments, you will break the game.

First the OP is not talking strictly about non MM maps, but rather having an option to play non remastered MM maps in event modes from what I gathered from the post (basically not making special weekend events only on remastered maps, but mixing remastered and nonremastered maps). And sure some older non MM maps have been ruined by the updates like Grenades, Magnum, and such but frankly, with how broken several equipments and modes are, its really hard to even consider current MM maps as being balanced for gameplay.

And when it comes to older maps that arent in the current MM pool. Tbh, the stuff that was happening with, for example, Magnum in Noise at its release, is still something that is happening even in current maps and with many different variations of turrets, hulls and augments that have been, are and will be abused on these MM maps in many different modes. So even if Tanki would tomorrow decided to introduce some of these old maps like Combe, Atra, Deck-9 with Grenades, Ods and augments in them, they would hardly be much worse compared to what is happening in the dead, predetermined and poorly balanced battles on current MM maps.

Lets be honest, the idea of the current 10v10 battles on "maps that will be playable for every equipment" that they were trying to sell to public when MM was about to be introduced was a pipe dream all along.
