Friend cant connect to tankionline.com.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

my friend cant connect to the server "Tankionline.com", but he can view the forums, but when he tries to enter the game, to register etc, he cant connect, instead, he gets this error message:

Connection to server c10.tankionline.com failed

Hope you can fix this?

That is not a matter for Tanki to fix. Something is blocking the connection on your friend's side. Either his/her firewall' date=' ISP or other program/function.[/quote']

Just asking, but what is the ISP?

ISP = Internet Service Provider

Ok, Thanks :)

He has now tried every thing you mentioned. Firewall is clean. ISP is not causing it. But he still can't connect to the server.

Why Don't You Tell Him To Disable His Firewall While He Is Playing Tanki?

Or Clean His Cache Or Un-Install Adobe Flash Player And Re-Install It From The Website.

Does anyone know the port ID of tankionline?

Port 5222 or 5223

When you say the firewall is clean, I do not know what that means. Is the firewall allowing a connection to Tanki?

Have your friend "ping" Tankionline:

Open the command window by clicking START, then RUN. Type CMD, and press Enter or click OK. Type ping www.tankionline.com. Click Enter. Post the results for me to see.

It does allow tanki.

1. Pinging www.tankionline.com does not means that you can play tanki. Ping uses the ICMP to comminicate and ICMP is a protocol not a service. Hence it does not use a specific port. In this case it means that you can "physically reach" the machine that the tankionline.com domain is hosted on.

2. Your friend being able to access the forum means that he can also reach the webserver that the domain tankionline.com is hosted on. Forum.tankionline.com is a subdomain pointing to the same IP address as the main domain, this being declared in the DNS zone of tankionline.com:

*          IN A	62.152.57.2 (maybe)
www IN A 62.152.57.2 (this means that typing www.tankionline.com in the browser's address bar takes you to that IP address)
forum IN A 62.152.57.2 (this means that typing forum.tankionline.com takes you to the same place)

Meaning there is nothing wrong with port 80.

A couple of reasons and things you can try:

1. Ports 5222 or 5223 are being used by the flash client to communicate with the game server/servers. He really needs to check if those are opened and accepting connections. Is he using a proxy?

2. As I remember, the error which Flash Players throws could also mean that your friend IP is banned because of various reasons if (notice the condition) he fooled around.

3. To really see what's happening, you can try Firefox + Firebug+Flashbug+Flash Player Debug version. Next step is to look at the traces Flash Bug trows in Firefox.

4. Use a packet sniffer and do some packet monitoring for a while. That would really give you an idea but only if you know what you are doing.

5. Antiviruses have firewalls, they can "learn" certain things and apply certain restrictions.

6. Uninstall flash player with Adobe uninstaller. Reinstall the last version.

7. Btw, game servers have different IP addresses. For example c1.tankionline.com is resolved at 62.152.57.11, c2@62.152.57.12 ad so on.

First of all you should try what NoblePlatOne already said. Clean cache, clear browser cookies and so on. Good luck.

Sometimes this can be caused by a misbehaving router overloaded by a torrent downloader, but generally this error means that outgoing connections to ports 5222, 5223, 5190 are blocked somewhere. Your friend should check the local firewall/antivirus settings, check the router settings, contact the ISP if he (she) believes that it's not a client configuration problem. After removing the prohibiting rule, it would be better to clear the Flash player cache.

It's enough to allow connections to just one of the above ports, not all three (5222 is the preferable choice).

Hi, I had the same problem and tried all that you mentioned but with no success. Finally I reset my McAffee firewall to ¨reset default settings¨ and it worked! It seems like McAffee decided to block something that by resetting default gave me access again. Hope this works for you.
